Urigo ruins - Yayoi Period - Japan
The Urigo ruins are of the Yayoi period c. 300 BCE to c. 250 CE. During this period people were starting to use metal but still used stone tools like the ones found on and around this area such as arrowheads. The ruins are a short distance from Toyohashi station and just across the Toyogawa river. I was able to spot pottery shards among the gravel that was dumped off to the side after the archaeological dig. The pit house is a reconstruction of a typical house of the period.
