Хайкинг (hiking) — часто, хайкингом называют поход с оздоровительными и познавательными целями, который проходит по оборудованным и хорошо маркированным маршрутам.
При хайкинге ночевка предполагается в кемпинге (палатке или домике), поэтому в рюкзак турист берет с собой только дневной запас еды и воды. Иногда хайкингу присущ характер путешествия выходного дня.
Хайкинг получил широкое применение в Испании, в связи с огромным количеством гор.
В английской терминологии идёт разделение пешеходного туризма на более простой хайкинг (с англ. — «hiking») и более сложный и длительный трекинг (с англ. — «trekking»).
Треккинг или трекинг (от англ. trekking) — разновидность пешеходного туризма, означает передвижение или переход по горной, пересеченной местности. Как правило, это рекреационный, а не спортивный туризм, если он не является частью альпинистского мероприятия по восхождению на гору. В последнем случае треккингом называют переход до базового лагеря альпинистов под горой.
Природный парк Уркиола (Urkiola) находится в на границе между Бискайей и Алавой, на склонах горного массива Дурангесадо.
Она находится в географическом центре Страны Басков.

Basque Country has places you must see for climbing, trekking, and hiking… such as Gorbea, Amboto, Txindoki, Aizkorri, coastal routes, etc. Outdoors, you can enjoy the rich ecosystem that Basque country offers to visitors and locals. They are a fundamental part of understanding Basque society as well as its gastronomy and culture.
Urkiola Natural Park is a protected area located in the southeastern corner of Biscay and Álava in the northern Basque Country, Spain. It is a protected area of 5,958 hectares (14,720 acres). The Park's highest mountain summit is Amboto at 1,337 metres (4,386 ft). Urkiola Natural Park and Gorbea Natural Park form an important environmental unit. The Natural Park is located in eight municipalities, seven in Biscay and one in Álava.
La palabra trekking proviene del término “Trek”. Esta palabra empezó a ser utilizada por los escaladores que probaban suerte en las cordilleras del Himalaya y Sudamérica. El trekking era la palabra con la que se referían a los desplazamientos a pie necesarios para llegar a las bases de las montañas. En la mayoría de ocasiones los términos trekking y excursionismo son equivalentes.
Mientras que el trekking o excursionismo se realiza por caminos salvajes y sin señalizar o directamente por lugares donde no existe el camino, y normalmente con con grado de dificultad relativamente elevado, otras modalidades como el senderismo funcionan de manera diferente. El trekking es un tipo de montañismo que implica un mayor esfuerzo físico, las rutas por las que discurren las caminatas no existen como tales y son los excursionistas las que las crean o encuentran. El trekking o excursionismo se practica en todo tipo de terrenos desde montañas, bosques, selvas, costas, cañones, ríos, cavernas, etc.

Basque Country Spain in 5 Days - Euskadi With Family
We just spent 5 days as a family in Basque Country (Euskadi) which spans both Spain and France. We didn't really have an itinerary or use a travel guide, thats not really our style, but if you want some pointers then maybe you can use this as a What to do in Basque Country travel guide for you and your family. Some of the highlights that we saw were we had an amazing time visiting San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, San Sebastian, Bilbao, Bayonne, and Hondarribia. The food scene with pintxos, which are like tapas, is amazing, the countryside is beyond beautiful, and we really love the unique culture.
We fortunate enough to see an amazing festival in Hondaribbia, Subida Calle Mayor Alarde Hondarribia, which was a great way to finish off our trip to Euskadi.
If you're trying to figure out what to do in Basque Country, this travel video can definitely act as a guide and give you some ideas on what to do and what we enjoyed.

Life balance in Basque Country
Not all the people know that in Spain there is one particular territory called Basque Country. They have their own language, culture and traditions. They live in a perfect balance between nature and people. Most of the territory is covered with national parks. Fresh air, wild ocean , animals... It is a perfect example how people should behave themselves.

Breaking in some new boots while the boy was at school. Didnt get to the lake I wanted to go to. The trail ends and its boulders and cliffs at the top and I was lazy and didnt want to climb them in the snow. Ran into some mule deer on the way out.

Urkiola's Sanctuary with wheelchair Joelette

Parque Natural Aizkorri-Aratz
Este parque toma su nombre de dos de sus cimas más representativas: Aratz y Aizkorri. La sierra de Aizkorri-Aratz forma una frontera natural entre Gipuzkoa y Araba, además de conformar la divisoría de aguas cántabro-mediterránea.
En las faldas de la sierra de Aizkorri se encuentra el Santuario de Nuestra Sra. de Aránzazu, patrona de Gipuzkoa. Aránzazu ha sido referente de la cultura y lengua vasca, y símbolo del arte moderno religioso.
Al caminar por las campas de Urbia estamos cerca de los dominios de Mari, la diosa más importante de Euskal Herria, la que representa a la Madre Tierra.
En las sierras de Elgea y Urkilla, se encuentra el único parque eólico gipuzkoano, compartido con Araba.
