Ushiku Daibutsu（Tallest Buddah）［ZEKKEI IBARAKI］
The Ushiku Daibutsu was built in Hitachi Province (present-day Ibaraki prefecture) to commemorate the area’s connection to Shinran (1173-1262), the founder of Jōdo Shinshū Buddhism. Construction began in 1986 and was completed in December 1992.
At 120m (base 20m, statue 100m), it is large enough to hold the Nara Daibutsu in the palm of its hand, and holds the Guinness Record for tallest bronze Buddha statue in the world.
Inside the statue are five levels with different areas, such as World of Infinite Light & Life, World of Gratitude and Thankfulness, and World of the Lotus Sanctuary. From an observatory in the chest 85m above the ground, you can look out in all directions, and on a clear day you can even see Tokyo Skytree and Mt. Fuji
In the vast Jōdo-style gardens you can relax and spend a whole day enjoying the stores and restaurants, fields of flowers that bloom in all seasons, and a petting zoo with squirrels and rabbits.

The “Ushiku Buddha” is designated by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest bronze statue. It is well known by many as a symbol of the garden cemetery, “Ushiku Jouen”, where many people gather and relax.

Ushiku Daibutsu (牛久大仏) is a statue located in Ushiku, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. Completed in 1993, it stands a total of 120 metres (390 ft) tall, including the 10 m (33 ft) base and 10m lotus platform. An elevator takes visitors up 85 m (279 ft) to an observation floor.

A tour of the Ushiku Daibutsu starts on the first floor in a dark room called the World of Infinite Light & Life. Visitors proceed to the the Observation Room (Room of Mount Gridhra-kuta; Vulture Peak) in an elevator with exhibits dedicated to the historical Buddha at 85m and then descend to the third floor (World of the Lotus Sanctuary) - which represents the Pure Land of Amida and is surrounded by 3,300 images of the Buddha.
