BOMAS OF KENYA (Pt-1) 5.11.2016
Bomas of Kenya (conventional farm houses) is a tourist village, about 10 km south of Nairobi city center, towards Nairobi National Park. It was conceived and planned by Barrack Obama Sr. (father of American 44th President, Barrack Obama) in 1971 in his capacity as Head of KTDC (Kenya Tourism Development Corporation) in Kenyan Government. Bomas (homesteads/ traditional huts) is in fact a museum of hut like houses depicting the living style of various tribes of Kenya. There are two main attractions at this place for the visitors, one models of hut-type houses/homesteads of about 22 ethnic groups of Kenya and second an Auditorium (theater) where traditional songs, music and dances are performed daily at 3.00 pm in a show of about one hour. The entry fee to the auditorium is 600 shillings. Another attraction at the place is Utamaduni Restaurant where one can have traditional and continental food at reasonable charge. There is also a small row of shops where souvenirs, handicrafts and traditional artifacts are sold.
Bomas of Kenya is an interesting place from viewpoint of tourism as well as preservation of traditional culture. It is open daily 10am-6pm; Cultural Dances from Mon to Fri 2:30-4pm, weekends and public holidays 3:30-5:00pm.

4. Mombasa City Tour - Curio Craft Shop - Tuesday 22nd August 2017 - Clip 2
A Walk Through A Curio Shop - Narok, Kenya
This was a typical shop for souveniers along the tourist trail. Lots of wood carvings of various animals / people crafted from varying types of wood. The quality of the workmanship in this particular store was exceptional !!
No price tags on anything. You pick up what you want and start to deal. All items are subject to 'mzungu' pricing and nothing is cheap. Definitely haggle! Be ready to walk away and not get what you want.
We bought some cool things, but every time we did I felt like I needed a cigarette afterwards, and should have had dinner bought or kissed or something (if you get my meaning)!
