Uyuni Salt Flats Tour (Salar de Uyuni Bolivia) 3 Days in 9 Minutes
Day1: Uyuni to Colchani, Piles of Salt, Eyes of Water, Incahuasi island, Salt Hotel in San Juan
Day2: Salar de Chiguana, Ollagüe Volcano, Lagoons and Flamingos, Colored lakes.
Day3: Geysers, Thermal Water, Desert Salvador Dali, Green Lagoon, Villa Mar, Uyuni
Tipp: Don't book at Camel Tours. We were not satisfied with our driver Roberto, since he pushes very aggressively to keep the schedule. You'll have more then enough time at the market to buy souvenirs but will be urged to hurry up at the sights like salt flat, salt hotel or Geysirs. No sense of customer is king was visible :-(

Salar de Uyuni Tours in Bolivia
South East of Bolivia is the location of the biggest Salt Flat in the world, Uyuni Salt Flat.
Music: Cliff Martinez - I that everybody wants (from the motion picture Solaris)

In a world where the time flies, where people are required to work on a fast speed and stress is more and more common in humans, the choice of where to go gives now priority to places that offered silence and tranquility. In Bolivia, near the border with Chile, there is a small community where the main economic activities apart from llama-herding and quinua-farming, is mining salt. Uyuni Salt Lake is a peculiar place. About 40,000 years ago, this arid area used to be part of a lake that covered a large swath of the Andes. Nowadays it is The World's Biggest Salt Desert.
South East of Bolivia is the location of the biggest Salt Flat in the world, Uyuni Salt Flat. The crust of salt covers a surface of 10.582 Km2. of extension, at an altittude of 3.653 meters above sea level, like a static sea touched by by the southern winds.
Like any other desert, the weather conditions in Uyuni Bolivia are extreme, from freezing night temperatures to fierce desert sun. In the Salar itself, you can find several hotels which have been made from salt bricks, including beds, chairs and cocktail bars. All is made from salt!
Furthermore, the Salar de Uyuni has impressive views. A flat whiteness, fringed by the peaks of mountains on the horizon beneath a bright blue sky can be admired by tourists. Besides, the silence that one can experience in this region is captivating. Calm and tranquility, not easily found anywhere, characterizes this landscape. As many other parts of South America, this developing area has very little to offer in terms of commodity. However, if you have an adventurous spirit you will be overwhelmed by its natural beauty.
Travel to the Salar of Uyuni, we'll guide you with pleasure!

WORLD'S BIGGEST MIRROR | Uyuni Salt Flats, Bolivia
THIS ADVENTURE MADE POSSIBLE BY: Kuoda Travel
/// The Bolivian Salt Flats in Uyuni, Bolivia are one of the most beautiful and unique places we've ever been! They are the biggest in the world (10,000 square kilometers of salt!). We drove 70 miles in the middle of the flats and had a gourmet picnic, and then hiked on an island that has formed on top of the flats. We ended the day with a gorgeous sunset and settled in our salt hotel for the night!

Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat at 10,582 square kilometers. But there is much more to explore than only the salt flats in Bolivia. It's a bizarre, beautiful geographic location with bright blue skies, high winds and chilly temperatures. Home to a rare breed of pink Flamingos, strange rock formations, vulcano's and lagunas with stunning color palettes, it was an amazing opportunity to view natural beauty not seen anywhere else in the world.

Uyuni Salt Flats Tour - Salar Uyuni Bolivia
The Bolivian Salt Flats just outside of Uyuni are world renowned attracting thousands of travellers every year. To cater for the hundreds of tourists there are hundreds of Salar De Uyuni Tour options.
There is the popular and more know route that you can take from Uyuni Bolivia, but there are also a few more options, Including starting in Tupiza. Tupiza to Uyuni tours is popular as you get another day through terrain that you wouldn't get from Uyuni.
There is also the option to go from Chile, all tours vary on price and experience, so its best to do your research to see what suits you. We decided to go from Tupiza to Uyuni as Tupiza is the closest border town to the North of Argentina where we crossed.
The tour lasted four days and crossed some of the most hostile and beautiful landscapes I have ever seen including the famous Laguna Colorada.
After talking to people who do other forms of the tour it sounds like our option was the best, because of the extra day you get from Tupiza. But I'll let you be the judge, here are the full four days from Tupiza to Uyuni Bolivia.

Salar de Uyuni - Bolivia at night

From La Paz we took the night bus to Uyuni, the long tiring journey worth it because Salar de Uyuni is a unique place. Upon our arrival we found a nice café for some coffee energy and then we booked our tour at one of the countless local agents. If you are after a day tour just pick a cheap one but for 2 or 3 day tours choose more wisely as you will spend hours inside a jeep…
The town is boring but we didn’t really care, we came here for the landscape and… oh my… what a place… for two days we saw some really beautiful corners of this planet. Our route was designed to be kind of lazy (with lots of photo stops), in most part away from other groups so we barely met with other tourists (or people in general). Lakes, flamingos, volcanos and the never-ending white of Salar de Uyuni as the highlight. Great place…
This is our video from our 2day tour in Altiplano & Salar de Uyuni
