Alexei Leonov, the first man to ever walk in outer space fifty years ago today (March 18), will take part in line celebratory events marking the occasion.
At the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre, the legendary soviet astronaut will be joined by the first soviet female astronaut Valentina Tereshkova.
Program:
- 12:00 GMT opening of the monument marking 50 years since the first space walk.
- 13:00 GMT Award ceremony of the Soviet/Russian cosmonaut and Air Force Major General Alexei Leonov.
Leonov's space walk on March 18, 1965 beat US astronaut Ed White's by three months. Leonov was launched to the ISS in a Voskhod capsule along with pilot Pavel Belyayev who was on board to man the ship while Leonov attempted the space walk. It was the first trip into space for both the crew members. Leonov was awarded the rank of ‘Hero of the Soviet Union’ on March 23, 1965, and was also awarded the Order of Lenin and the ‘Golden Star’ Medal.

Vladimir Zhirinovsky about renaming things (English subs)
FOR SUBTITLES TURN CAPTIONS (CC) ON.
In this video, Zhirinovsky speaks about 2 things. Renaming cities, streets, etc. The second subject is about money leaking to abroad.
Hey, everyone, I was thinking. Would you want to have a talk on Skype? About politics, some other subjects, maybe. Maybe on subject you are interested in. Or I ask questions or something. Leave your opinion in the comment below. If I gather 5 people, + me, so 6, then I think we could try. I won't record it. Just talk about stuff. See how it goes.
Speech in Duma on: 10/11/2015

Remarks:
1. So, here is the deal. A few days ago, a matter arose about renaming Voikovskaya station of Moscow subway. Because allegedly this guy Voikov was one of those who killed Tsar Nikolai 2-nd. So they put it on the internet voting. And, the result was negative to rename it. So, they unfolded this campaign, showing documentaries and news reports about how he was killing Tsar and such. It seems it worked and they got positive result. Idk personally, I didn’t followed this story, cuz idc. Although I voted the 2-nd time as soon as it came up, cuz of so much turmoil around this thing. There were 4 options: Yes, no, don’t know, and experts should decide this. I voted for the experts, but negative was leading at that moment.
2. Metrostroyevskaya… Just rolls off the tongue, isn’t it?
3. OK, this is over exaggeration. There were more to it, but w/e. And definitely more that 1 drop of blood was spilled. That’s not the point right now.
4. The movie he’s referring to is where the famous scene of Winter Palace assault, where workers with rifles ran to the gates, climb over them, and eventually opening it and going inside. Zhirinovsky says what he says, because it is the only known depicted material of that event. So it is usually used as a point of reference. If you want, see it for yourself:
Thanks for watching!
Trolls and haters: Go to hell.
