Váci utca (Váci street) - Budapest, Hungary
Budapest walking street - A walk on on Váci utca shopping & restaurant street - Budapest attractions
Tourist attractions in Budapest, Hungary. We are on one of what can be described as Budapest´s man tourist shopping and restaurant streets, many others call this area Budapest´s tourist trap lined with tourist shops, retail stores, restaurants, bars, cafe´s and fast food outlets. This is also the location of The Budapest Hard Rock Cafe! We are on the main walking street called Váci utca (Vaci Street).
We stayed at the Budapest Sofitel Chain Bridge Hotel which was located just a few minutes walk from the Vörösmarty tér (Vorosmarty Square). Our Budapest walking street tour begins from this town square which is also the location of the Easter Market and I would imagine the Christmas Market. It is early morning and the City of Budapest is just waking up, the little wooden houses on the Vörösmarty tér are the stores and restaurants all part of the lovely Easter market. This square is also the location of the Hard Rock Cafe Budapest. After passing the Vörösmarty Town Square we soon find ourselves on the main walking street Váci utca (Vaci Street) heading in the direction of the Budapest Great Market Hall (Nagycsarnok). The Vaci utca walking street is either lover or hated by tourists. We where there early before the locals and tourists crowds had begun and it was a nice walk which gave us time to calmly look at the retail shops, bars, restaurants, tourist shops and fast food outlets offering their services to both locals and tourists, not to mention viewing the beautiful architecture of many of the buildings found in this area. After a longer walk down the Váci utca walking Street we find ourselves crossing the busy Kossuth Lajos utca (Kossuth Lajos road). When lthe camera turns to the right viewers will see one of Budapest´s major bridges which connects the two areas of the city divided by the Danube River Buda and Pest hence the name Budapest! The bridge that connects Buda and Pest is called the Elisabeth Bridge (Hungarian: Erzsébet híd). Our city walking street walk then takes us all the way up towards the Budapest Central Market until we reach the busy city square Fővám tér (Fovam Square), this is a busy public transport intersection where travellers will find a selection of trams travelling in all directions. The bridge crossing the Danube River here is called Szabadság híd (in English: Liberty Bridge or Freedom Bridge).

Váci Street (Váci utca) Budapest, Hungary
This wonderful pedestrian-only street runs from Vorosmarty ter all the way to Vamhaz korut and the beautiful Market Hall.
It is located near the Elizabeth Bridge and is the point where the pedestrian section used to end but a few years back a second section was made pedestrian as well.
While the first section is lively and popular, the new area has more charm and authenticity. Together, they are both truly European: dozens of cafes, fancy shops and boutiques and some truly stunning architecture.
Don't forget to look up as you stroll down Vaci utca - some of the façades are truly amazing.

Váci utca (Váci street) is one of the main pedestrian thoroughfares and perhaps the most famous street of central Budapest, Hungary. It features a large number of restaurants and shops catering primarily to the tourist market. The Lonely Planet says It's tourist central, but the line of cafés and shops are worth seeing — at least once.[1] Whilst the big name stores are safe enough, the smaller shops and cafes are not averse to ripping off tourists. Tales of woe abound about Pertu Station cafe and some souvenir shops will exchange to euros at 20% more than bureaux de change.

Hungary, Budapest Travel Guide - Shopping in Vaci Utca
A pedestrian street with shops, cafes, and historic architecture. (Budapest, Hungary)
Vaci Utca is a pedestrian area in Budapest, most know for the upscale shopping. It starts from Vörösmarty here and extends to and the Market Hall. Walking around you would see many expensive stores, particularly that relate to fashion. Since the area is so popular, it is not surprising that cafes and restaurants are not hard to find. And if you are taking some Hungarian souvenirs back home, you should be able to find some good ones here.
I am Arpad Polgar, the owner of Polgar Gallery and Auction House. The compnay deals with art works: paintings, furniture, carpets, jewels, clocks and sometimes we even sell cars. But most memorable about Vaci Utca is the architecture of some of the building in and around the area. Number 11 which has Zsolnay ceramics in the facade. House number 5 that has some beautiful and novel decorations. The 18th century town hall that has baroque architecture. I am Gyongyi Ludwen, showing you Budapest.
