Monteverde Costa Rica Night Walk and Tour at Valle Escondido
For our night hike / tour, we were shuttled to Valle Escondido Preserve about 5:00pm straight from our lodge. The area of Monteverde, during our stay, was really windy and the location of the night hike was no different, super windy.
When we arrived we were greeted by our guide and were given our flashlights. We still had a few minutes until the night hike started so I ran down and got a time lapse of the sunset... stunning!
Once we got down into the jungle / forest a bit, the wind wasn't as bad but you could still see and hear it blowing fiercely above us. Our guide showed us everything he could find but apparently the strong winds kept a lot of the night life out of the trees.
We saw several types of birds, spiders, and ants but that was about it. A bit disappointing, but to no fault of our tour guide or the establishment. You can't make animals appear on demand unless you're at a zoo or Disneyland :)
Overall, just being in the forest, in central america, in Costa Rica, in Monteverde... in the middle of nowhere was really awesome. Although we didn't see much, just being out in nature was awesome. Highly recommend the night tour and walk at Valle Escondido Preserve.
On a technical note, I tried shooting this footage with my GoPro Hero4 Silver in low light mode at 1080p / 60fps and think it turned out pretty good.
Comment if you've had better luck with other settings in low light situations.

Valle Escondido at Monte Verde Inn - Costa RicaNature preserve starting at Monte Verde Inn in Costa Rica. It offers wonderful trails, rain forest, waterfalls and views. In my opinion, it is as good if not better than Bosque Nuboso that costs $25 to enter.

Costa Rica Day 4: Monteverde Cloud Forest, Hanging Bridges, & Spooky Night Tour
It's a been a long time since I've uploaded a video! The files of this video were corrupted, and I've done my best to salvage what I could to upload this video, which is choppily edited. Today will be a double upload, Day 5 will be up later as well. In this video, we begin with an adventure through Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve, enjoying the natrual beauty's along the way, watching as the clouds pass us by. In the afternoon, we go to a Costa Rica adventure park named Selvatura. There is a superb Humming Bird Garden and then I rant about overpriced hanging bridges. Finally to cap off a Day where we spent a s*#@load of money, we enjoy a night tour after a beautiful sunset over the Gulf of Nicoya. Important Links:

Night tour at Bajo del Tigre trail, Monteverde, Costa Rica
Part of the Children's Eternal Rainforest, the cool Bajo del Tigre trail has a nice night tour. It was chilly and windy when we went and we were pretty tired. But we got to see some neat species in a setting you don't normally get to see them.
