Nachdem ich fast 10 Jahre lang diesen Ort besuchte, wurde es Zeit, meine Eindrücke in einem Film festzuhalten. Für das Internet habe ich zwei Tage in Valle Gran Rey festgehalten. Ich hoffe, dass ich mit diesem Streifen Menschen, die Valle noch nicht kennen, dazu bewege, das Tal zu besuchen. Für diejenigen, die das Tal kennen, hoffe ich mit diesem Film Erinnerungen geweckt zu haben.

La Gomera 08.08.2013: Im Hafen von Vueltas, Valle Gran Rey kommen seid einiger Zeit regelmaessig Rundkoepfige Stechrochen, Adlerrochen und Schmetterlingsrochen vorbei. Vueltas ist ein alter traditioneller Hafen in dem noch Fischerboote auf das Meer hinaus fahren. Oft werden Fische an der Landungstreppe ausgenommen. Der Beifang wird waehrend der Einfahrt in den Hafen ebenfalls ins Meer geworfen. Das hat dazu gefuehrt, das die Tiere auf Futtersuche immer wieder vorbeischauen. Ein kleiner Junge (Joel) hat sich daraus seinen Spass gemacht und zusammen mit seinen Freunden lockt er besonders einen grossen Stechrochen zur Treppe und fuettert ihn mit Fisch. Langsam entwickelt sich das Ganze zu einem kleinen morgentlichen Spektakel.

Vueltas es un antiguo puerto tradicional donde vela todavía barcos de pesca en el mar. A menudo se utilizan peces de las escaleras de aterrizaje. La captura incidental tirada también durante la entrada al puerto en el mar. Esto ha conducido a la caída de los animales alimentándose una y otra vez. Un niño pequeño (Joel) tiene su diversión de esto y junto a sus amigos atrae sobre todo una gran raya a las escaleras y lo alimenta con peces. Lentamente, el asunto se convirtió en un espectáculo mañana pequeña.
La Gomera 08.08.2013: In the harbour of Vueltas, Valle Gran Rey are coming some time regularly sting rays, eagle rays and Butterfly rays past. Vueltas is an old traditional harbour where sail still fishing boats on the sea. Fish of the landing stairs are often used. The bycatch thrown in also during the entrance to the port in the sea. That has led to the drop the animals foraging time and again. A little boy (Joel) has his fun from this and together with his friends he attracts especially a large stingray to the stairs and feeds him with fish. Slowly, the whole thing evolved into a small morning spectacle.
La Gomera 08.08.2013: No porto de Vueltas, Valle Gran Rey vêm algum tempo regularmente arraias, raias e raios de borboleta passados. Vueltas é um antigo porto tradicional onde a vela ainda barcos de pesca no mar. Peixe das escadas de desembarque é usados frequentemente. A captura acidental lançada também durante a entrada do porto no mar. Que levou à queda os animais forrageando e outra vez. Um garotinho (Joel) tem sua diversão deste e juntamente com seus amigos, ele atrai especialmente uma grande arraia para as escadas e alimenta-lo com peixes. Lentamente, tudo evoluiu para um espetáculo de manhã pequeno.

Come Hike With Us: From Arure Down Valle Gran Rey And Taking The Bus Up Again - LA GOMERA
When we woke up and looked from the terrace of our guesthouse in Imada, we got greeted by a lovely sunrise. But since the weather is constantly changing on La Gomera, the weather has changed again when we started to descend into the Valle Gran Rey and it was actually kind of chilly.
But luckily, the close we got to sea level, the better the weather go, the sun was peeking out and again the temperatures were good enough to finish the hike just in a T-Shirt.
What a lovely hike that was, constantly going down hill. Even though it sounds easy but it's hard on your thighs and knees after a while but the stunning views made up for it.

Valle Gran Rey: Beaches, Points of Interest and Hiking (2017)
I hope you enjoy this video I made of Valle Gran Rey, when I visited the coastal village in south-western La Gomera (Spain) in the summer of 2017. The video includes the harbour in Vueltas; the Charco de Conde Beach (known as 'Baby Beach' by the tourists); the main Paya de Valle Gran Rey situated at the delta of the valley's rivers. Moving up from Vueltas and La Puntilla (where you'll find the Hotel Gran Rey I stayed at and highly recommend), you move on to the ever slightly more 'touristy' La Playa de la Calera and the dangerous yet tranquil and beautiful Playa del Inglés, with Charco del Cieno just before it (with an unusual circular site visible in the video).
In the video I've also included a small part of my walk to the inner part of the valley, with St. Anthony of Padua's Church situated by El Retamal. I hope you enjoy the video.
