Vanathirupathi ~ Sthala of fusion of Vaishnavism & Saivism
Vanathirupathi has been not only one of the abodes of Lord Vishnu , but also remains as the fusion of the main two divisions of Hinduism, the Saivism, and the Vaishnavism. Here, lord Vishnu enshrines as two presiding deities, namely Srinivasa perumal, and Aathi Narayana perumal. Both of them have been in the posture of standing, but one difference in their postures, that lord Srinivasa perumal is standing alone, whereas Lord Aathi Narayana perumal stands in the posture of standing with embracing the Shiva Linga on His chest and thus paves way to the fusion of two divisions as one.
Vanathirupathi, situates at Tuticorin district in Tamil Nadu, India, on the way to Nazareth from kurumbur. It’s been very near to Thiruchendur, which is one of the six abodes of lord Muruga. Again, it’s well situated near the compilation of lord Vishnu's nine abodes, which has been collectively called as 'Nava Tirupathi' in Tamil language.
One of the special features, to be noted in this temple, has been that the sun rays fall down on the right hand of lord Vishnu, as it seems to receive the grace of this lord, daily. Again this temple has been built under the guidance of the great devotee, and religious propagandist of lord Muruga's, Thirumuruga kirubanatha warrior.
This sthala, Vanathirupathi has been noted especially, for its granting child boon, to those, who are childless, for very long time. In order to receive the child boon, the couples, that is, husband and wife should come to this temple, on their wedding day, which would fall on the three consecutive months, and should worship this god, by offering with nine lotus flowers. It’s very good for them, to stay at the temple premises on that worshiping night.
