Vaso Katraki was a Greek painter and engraver. She was known for her passionate depictions of the sufferings of the Greek people during and after World War II. In 1967 she was exiled to a barren island by the military junta on the day that it took power. She started with wood engraving, then developed an original and very unusual technique of sandstone engraving.

Muse Project: Cultural identity of Messolonghi-Aetoliko
At “Vasso Katraki” museum in Etoliko

Strengthening the model of Port-Museum of Tricase by transferring it to the Greek communities of Messolonghi and Corfu is the aim of MUSE Project -Development and enhancement of port museums as natural and cultural heritage sites.

Messolonghi-Aetoliko
Lead Partner of the project is the Municipality of Tricase; the project partners are CIHEAM BARI, the Municipality of Messolonghi, the Port Authority of Corfu and the European Regional Framework for Cooperation (ERFC-Greece).
The Port-Museum is a dynamic place of research, collection, exchange and deepening of knowledge linked to the traditions of the sea and of coastal communities.
It is a model of development of coastal territories that, through the involvement of the community, enhances the cultural heritage -tangible and intangible-, develops the territory, supports local economies, promotes responsible tourism contributing to the sustainability of the coastal marine ecosystem.
The project will try to develop actions in some areas at high risk of depopulation and abandonment, by creating a network between Ports Museum and by strengthening facilities and services for cultural, natural and scientific tourism.

Το μοναδικό μουσείο χαρακτικής τέχνης στην Ελλάδα, βρίσκεται στο Αιτωλικό, στη δημοτική ενότητα του δήμου Μεσολογγίου. Η χαράκτρια Βάσω Κατράκη με καταγωγή από το Αιτωλικό, σημάδεψε με τα έργα της, πάνω στην πέτρα και το ξύλο, την παγκόσμια τέχνη της χαρακτικής.

Πάνω από 100 άτομα βρέθηκαν στο Μουσείο ΒΑΣΩ ΚΑΤΡΑΚΗ, στο Αιτωλικό, και γνώρισαν από κοντά το μεγάλο έργο της μεγάλης χαράκτριας, με την ευκαιρία της συμπλήρωσης 100 χρόνων από τη γέννησή της

Το Τμήμα Πολιτισμού της Κ.Ε. του Κ.Κ.Ε οργάνωσε αυτή την εκδρομή με αποκλειστικό σκοπό την επίσκεψη - ξενάγηση στο Μουσείο.
