Altea The Cultural Capital of the Valencian region Costa Blanca Spain (Tour)
Altea.
This typically Spanish town is approximately 12 kilometres north of Benidorm. This picture postcard town offers you the visitor a chance to experience 'old Spain'. The old town with its cobbled streets winds up to the church and the central piazza area. Why not stop and rest and enjoy a drink or a meal in the many restaurants and bars dotted throughout the square.
All along the bustling streets leading up to the church you will also find many high end boutiques and artisan shops, specialising in arts and crafts, jewellery and designer clothing.
The walk back towards the sea leads onto a cosmopolitan sea front which has been landscaped with hundreds of palm trees offering some much needed shade. Here you will also discover a huge selection of cafés and restaurants. There a many shops here and Altea's weekly market takes place each Tuesday.
Altea makes for a perfect day out from Benidorm and is easily reached by public transport. From the centre of Benidorm simply hop on the number 10 bus. This service runs every 15 minutes and the journey time is approximately 35 minutes. The tram also whisks you effortlessly from Benidorm train station to Altea station in approx' 20 minutes. If you have hired a car then it is a simple 15 minute drive from Benidorm centre. Take the N332 (national road) direction north (Valencia) and park! Check at your hotels reception desk, they most likely will have details of organised day trips.
For a more traditional taste of Spain, Altea is the place to go at any time of the day or night.

Santa Maria Del Mar – Presentation – Barcelona – Audio Guide – MyWoWo Travel App
Hi, I'm James, your personal guide. Together with MyWoWo, I'd like to welcome you to one of the wonders of the world.
Today I'll accompany you through the Esglèsia de Santa Maria del Mar.
Santa Maria del Mar is one of the most loved churches of the inhabitants of Barcelona!
This 14th century church, which is also one of the most beautiful Catalan Gothic style churches, contends for the affection of both locals and tourists along with the Cathedral and Sagrada Familia.
Can you imagine, it was built in just over 50 years, a record time for those years! From its beginning it was a building of the people: once a week, the bastaixos (the unloaders) would carry the stones needed for its construction that had been taken from the royal quarries of Montjuïc on their backs. The main doors have reliefs that show the work of these men.
The majestic façade overlooking Plaça de Santa Maria del Mar encompasses all the austerity of the Catalan Gothic style. As you can see, the portal is set back, and the top is dominated by a rose window and closed on the sides by two octagonal towers.
Before entering the church, go around it and admire the structure from every angle. The narrow streets that surround it are characteristic of the merchant quarter Ribera.
Once you've made it back to the starting point, go ahead and enter the church…
