Venetian Castle in Naoussa, Paros
Kastelli or Venetian Castle of Naoussa is a circular fort located in front of the old harbor of the village of Naoussa on Paros island.
The half-submerged fortress is reachable only via a narrow walkway often splashed by sea waves - sure way to get yourself wet!

Castles of Crete - Frangokastello's Venetian Fortress, Touring the Historic Landmark
Crete is not just beautiful beaches, rugged landscape, and great parties - its all about history, too. The island is strategic, meaning it was a target of many empires and civilizations through the millennia, including the city-state of Venice. It was during Venetian rule over Crete when this fortress was built.
In a previous video we highlighted the Frangokastello beach and we passed the castle on the way in - this time we won't just walk by en route to the beach bar, we'll take a stroll through the fortress, checking out every nook and cranny while discussing the history of the place.
We also mentioned another local legend relating to this castle in our Orthi Ammos video, which is located just at the end of Frangokastello beach. The sand shares a storied past and we are reminded of it every year, so it is said.
Enjoy this bit of Cretan history and subscribe to the good life!!

Paros Scooter Day: Naoussa Village
A short walk through the fishing village of Naoussa
Paros, Greece - Naoussa - AtlasVisual
Paros Video Map:
Naoussa, a formerly quiet fishing village of Paros, is located on the north side of the island, 10 km from the capital. It is built around a beautiful, safe harbor, for many the most beautiful of the Aegean. The beautiful town of Naoussa is an extremely popular and beloved destination thanks to its authentic Cycladic identity and its stunning natural beauty. In the area there are several hotels and many tourist shops. Walking through the narrow cobblestone streets and observing the uniformity of the architecture and construction of houses and churches, one understands the unique beauty of the Cyclades. At the entrance of the town is a Venetian castle, built in the 14th century. Also characteristic to the town are the old warehouses of fishermen around the harbor which have been converted into bars, tavernas and restaurants.

Welcome to Paros, Greece???????? Is it the Best Greek Island? Things to do in Paros & Antiparos
We spend a day exploring the town of Parikia in Paros, as well as the island of Antiparos, Greece to find out the best things to do! The islands can be found in southern Greece and are part of the Cyclades islands.
We started our day exploring the town of Parikia, walking around it’s beautiful white washed streets to see the class cyclades buildings. We walked around the Frankish Castle and also visited the old church called Panagia Ekatontapiliani.
Paros is known for being relatively chic so we walked around to window shop at the boutiques.
We then make our way to the waterfront area to check out the local beaches and walk along the promenade.
Here we pick up a bus that takes us to another town to take a ferry to the small neighbouring island of Antiparos (FYI- Tom Hanks has a house here- watch the video to see if we meet him!).
In Antiparos we take the drone up to get great views over the town, hit up the lagoon like beach next to the main town, and explore the beautiful streets. Antiparos is known for being even more chic than Paros and you can notice it in it’s beautiful boutiques and restaurants.

Places featured:
Paros in Greece is among the most popular islands of Cyclades. Located in the heart of the Aegean Sea, Paros island is ideal for young people, romantic couples and families, too. The Parian traditional villages, particularly Naoussa, Parikia and Lefkes, are perfect samples of Cycladic architecture, with whitewashed sugar houses, paved streets and blue-domed churches. The beaches are famous for the exotic water and the golden sand. The beaches on the south eastern side, such as Golden Beach and New Golden Beach, are particularly popular for windsurfing.
Parikia: This is the beautiful capital of Paros, Parikia is a beautiful village with whitewashed cubic houses, impressive neoclassical mansions narrow cobbled paths, the old churches, the small shops and the houses in blue and white. Parikia is today one of the most popular and busiest spot of the island, as its cafeterias and restaurants along the waterfront attract many visitors. Parikia is also famous for its vivid nightlife, which makes it along with Naoussa village, the two busiest tourist resorts of Paros.
Frankish Castle:
Perched atop the highest point of Pairikia is the Frankish castle, built in the 13th century. It was constructed in 1260 by Marcus Sanudus, who had conquered, along with Crusaders of Venetian origin, the Cyclades as well as other parts of Greece, and established the Duchy of the Aegean Sea, based in Naxos. Nowadays, only one of the castle walls remains. The material used for its construction was taken from ancient sites that existed nearby, such as the temple of goddess Athena, the protector of the ancient town of Paros.
Panagia Ekatontapiliani:
Panagia Katapoliani is a historic Byzantine church complex in Parikia town, on the island of Paros in Greece. The church complex contains a main chapel surrounded by two more chapels and a baptistery with a cruciform font.
Antiparos:
Antiparos is a small Greek island in the Cyclades group, seperated from Paros by a narrow and shallow strait. It has an area of 45 square kilometers with a 57 kilometer coastline. The capital Antiparos is on the north eastern coast, while the other villages Kambos and Agios Georgios are in the mid-west and on the south western coast, respectively. The islands houses just over 1,000 inhabitants. Antiparos is well recognised for its relaxed, authentic atmosphere. It has many beaches on all sides and offer a nice alternative to the more crowded and hectic islands around it.
