Venice Italy - Arriving By Private Water Taxi & St Marks Square At Night
Venice Italy Travel Vlog Day 1 -
We booked an Airbnb apartment from Friday to Monday in San Marco, just a 2 min walk away from Santa Maria Del Giglio Vaporetto stop. We arrived in Venice around 7.30pm. We pre booked a private water taxi from the airport to near our apartment, so so glad we did....it was an amazing experience!!!
In this vlog, we take a walk around St Marks square at night and go for a meal in a restaurant. We had been told that restaurants close early in Venice however, while we were there, we did not feel this to be true, we ate out most nights around 10pm and went on to some bars until around 1am. Venice is amazing, I hope you like these vlogs. Thank you for watching, take care. Claire xxx

Venice and the Ottoman Empire: Crash Course World History #19
In which John Green discusses the strange and mutually beneficial relationship between a republic, the citystate of Venice, and an Empire, the Ottomans--and how studying history can help you to be a better boyfriend and/or girlfriend. Together, the Ottoman Empire and Venice grew wealthy by facilitating trade: The Venetians had ships and nautical expertise; the Ottomans had access to many of the most valuable goods in the world, especially pepper and grain. Working together across cultural and religious divides, they both become very rich, and the Ottomans became one of the most powerful political entities in the world. We also discuss how economic realities can overcome religious and political differences (in this case between Muslims and Christians), the doges of Venice, the sultans of the Ottoman empire, the janissaries and so-called slave aristocracy of the Ottoman Empire, and how money and knowledge from the Islamic world helped fuel and fund the European Renaissance. Also, there's a They Might Be Giants joke.
If you really want to read about Ottoman eunuchs (warning: it's explicit), here you go:

Traveling to Venice, Italy with your dog
I have to start off by saying how surprisingly easy it was for us to travel to Italy with Tucker! The only time our paperwork was checked was at the ticket counter in the United States. The rest of the trip not a single person looked at it or even asked for it. I am not saying that this will always be the case but that is what we experienced. Furthermore, once we were in Italy, Tucker was treated just like a human and in some cases better!!! We only had one instance the entire trip where a cab driver did not allow us in his car with Tucker and he wasn’t even Italian so….. Everywhere else we went he was invited in with us. With that being said, it is super important that you do your homework and have all of the required paperwork filled out properly before you go.
Venice
If you have never been to Venice I highly recommend you take a private water taxi to your hotel. I emailed the water taxi company before we left to make sure that it would be okay to have Tucker in the boat with us and they were fine with it. It is one of the most expensive ways to enter the city, but trust us, it is an awesome experience!!! Here is a link to the company we used.
Boat to Hotel: Venicelink
We quickly learned once in Italy that all restaurants are dog friendly as long as you have a well-behaved dog. You do not even need to ask .....you just walk right in with your dog! If only it was like that in the US!
Venice Hotel : Novecento Boutique Hotel
We loved this hotel! The staff was really friendly and knowledgeable! Out of all of the hotels we stayed at in Italy this one had the best breakfast! It is very close to the famous Piazza San Marco but just far enough away to not feel like you are in the hordes of tourists. Another plus is that it is just a short walk from a boat dock and you do not have to wind around and cross footbridges with your luggage. Trust me if you have never been, this can be a huge plus! Tucker’s luggage is not small either despite his size! The only two downsides to this hotel were the size of the shower and that the hotel was not on the water - so there are no water views from the room. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Most importantly they loved Tucker and Tucker loved the hotel!
If you do decide to stay at this hotel please book through our site as it helps us create these awesome videos and to maintain

Venice part 1
Explore Venice with its historic attractions and gorgeous canals which are one of Italy's most famous attractions. I spent three nights in the city taking photos while I tried to find the best places which are free to visit. The Biennale Art Exposition happens in Venice every odd-numbered year and lasts from May through November. This tradition, which dates back to 1895, is an essential part of the Venice art scene with artists from over 30 different countries.

There are several ways to get around in Venice. The vaporetto goes around the City on the Grand Canal, and most tourists use the gondola to see Venice from the small canals. I personally think the best way to explore the city is walking around and through the small streets, bridges. Try to find the places where there are less tourist and look for the opportunity to see the face of real Venice. During my journey I met some fantastic people and I really enjoyed this city.

Venice part 3
Venice is one of Italy's most picturesque cities - and a popular destination for travel! Houses in Venice are numbered according to districts, not streets, making it difficult to find addresses. If you lost just try to look for a monument, shop, or landmark in close proximity and you will find the way to your place. In the night you will find more difficult to get the right direction amongst the small canals. The tradition of Biennale Art Exposition, which dates back to 1895, is an essential part of the Venice art scene with artists from over 30 different countries. I would like to thank you for the lady who invited me to the Biennale, I really enjoyed it.
