Yerevan’s Flea Market is probably one of the best open air markets in world. It is called VERNISSAGE (varnishing, from French) — a term used for a preview of an art exhibition. A visit to the market could be a full day excursion on a beautiful weekend day where you will find everything from vintage meat grinder parts to puppy dogs for sale. It is bargain hunters heaven.
The Vernissage is the right place to get little taste of Armenia and a special spot to witness the fusion between national traditions and modern taste. It offers various kinds of nice national souvinirs, jewelry and other traditional items.
Vernissage is held behind Republic Square metro on Nalbandyan street, selling everything under the sun. This is your best place to get souvenirs, since the back half has many handicrafts including ceramics, carved wood, stone, lace, needlework, dolls, paintings, jewelry and other things such as carpets, books and t-shirts. Rummage around this exciting and colorful market on weekends — open from spring to autumn (weather permitting).
Currently, one can come across with almost anything in this weekend-open market. It is open only on the weekends, except for the part at the end of the Vernissage venue where it connects with Khanjian Street.
Initially this word denoted the inauguration of a modern exhibition. However, the Vernissage has certainly been one of the most essential elements of Yerevan’s cultural life.

Vernissage is a large open-air market in Yerevan, Armenia. The name of the market is the derived from the French word vernissage. The market lies along Aram and Buzand streets at a length of 350 metres, connecting the Hanrapetutyun street with the Khanjyan street.

The Yerevan Vernissage is an open-air exhibition-market. It was formed during the 1980s by Armenian artists who started to display their artworks in the square next to the Artists Union of Armenia (the current Charles Aznavour Square). The exhibition-market was gradually enlarged and finally moved to Aram and Buzand streets, starting with the Republic square metro station and ending up with the statue of Vardan Mamikonyan. In addition to carved wood and artworks, traditional carpets, old collections of coins and medallions, books, jewelry, musical instruments, electronics, and even pets are found in the market.

The Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral (Armenian: Սուրբ Գրիգոր Լուսավորիչ մայր եկեղեցի, Surb Grigor Lusavorich mayr yekeghetsi), also known as the Cathedral of Yerevan is currently the largest cathedral of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the world, effectively making it the current largest Armenian cathedral. It is located in the Kentron District (Central District) of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, and considered to be one of the largest religious buildings in the South Caucasus along with the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi (known as the Sameba Cathedral). Adjacent to the General Andranik metro station, it's visible from the numerous corners of Yerevan.
