Lil Hope | Hope Town | Abaco | Bahamas
Adorable 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage in the heart of Hope Town. A great location across from the Mission House, steps from Vernon's Grocery, Hope Town Coffee House and the beach. Lil Hope was built in 1995 in the traditional Loyalist style but with all the modern conveniences. It boasts an open floor plan, cypress walls, pine floors, central a/c, hanging impact shutters, outdoor shower, and a small storage shed out back. Recent upgrades include: Bermuda-style roof, Hardi-panel exterior and a back up generator. Lil Hope offers one of the best porches to sit on and visit with friends passing by, just like in the days of old. Fully furnished and landscaped. A great house at a great price!

Sailing to Hope Town On Elbow Cay in the Abacos - Bahamas
Bahamas sailing trip aboard Latitude Adjustment.
Today we are sailing from Man-O-War Cay to Elbow Cay in the Abacos.
We anchored outside the harbor at Hope Town and went ashore to see the Elbow Reef Lighthouse. The lighthouse was busy with a school field trip, so we walked the streets of Hope Town looking for other adventures while we waited for our turn to see the lighthouse. The beach on the southeastern shore had beautiful white sand and endless colors of blue as the reef dropped off into the Atlantic Ocean. A quick shopping trip at Harbour View Grocery for provisions and then on to the lighthouse!
Next week, we will continue our adventures by going back north in the Abacos! Another stop at Great Guana and seeing the pigs at No Name Cay. We can’t wait to see the pigs!

exploring hope town by land air and sea 49 sailing saoirse
We leave Marsh Harbor for a short sail to nearby Elbow Cay to visit Hope Town. It feels like you are transported into New England. Which makes sense, because British Loyalist settled the area after fleeing America after the Revolutionary War.
We visited the iconic candy stripped lighthouse, which is the last kerosene burning lighthouse in the world. What a view from the top! We were able to spot Saoirse because of her solar panels off in the distance floating in the crystal clear water.
We take Oona for a walk around town. Most of the town is block from cars, so we only had to worry about the golf carts and bicycles!
Our join our friends from Sailing Uma, Dan and Kika, for a GORGEOUS dive on one of the reefs nearby. and saw the most beautiful spotted eagle ray!
We try our luck at grabbing some key lime pie at Vernon's... but you'll have to see if we are lucky or not.
big love,
beau, brandy, and our salty dog, oona

Green Turtle Cay Flooded As Hurricane Dorian Sweeps Through Bahamas
Hurricane Dorian struck the northern Bahamas on Sunday as a catastrophic Category 5 storm, its record 185 mph winds ripping off roofs and tearing down power lines as hundreds hunkered in schools, churches and other shelters.
Dorian hit land in Elbow Cay in the Abaco Islands at 12:40 p.m., and then made a second landfall near Marsh Harbour on Great Abaco Island at 2 p.m., after authorities made last-minute pleas for those in low-lying areas to evacuate. (Credit: Jason Bethel via Storyful)
