During our 2 week trip to Copenhagen, Denmark, we rented an apartment in a local area of the city. It was a fantastic area, a quiet and friendly neighborhood, but just a short distance from downtown Copenhagen. In this video, I’m going to give you a full video of our apartment in Copenhagen.
Vesterbro - When I mentioned we were staying in Vesterbro to many locals in Copenhagen, many mentioned that they loved the area, and that it was one of their favorite neighborhoods in Copenhagen. And I figured out why pretty quickly - the area is quiet and peaceful, yet not far from downtown, it has a nice friendly feel to it, and there are many great restaurants, cafes, and shops in the area. I would highly recommend Vesterbro when you visit or live in Copenhagen, I loved the area.
Total price - The price to rent this apartment on a short term basis like we did, was $189 per night, which came with two bedrooms, and a full house. It’s still not cheap, but when you compare it to a hotel room in Copenhagen, it’s much more affordable and you get much more space.

Walking down Vesterbrogade in København, Denmark
Vesterbro is located just outside Copenhagen's city center—the Inner City or Indre By—making it a very attractive place to live, as are the other areas immediately outside the center: the Indre Nørrebro (Inner Nørrebro), Indre Østerbro (Inner Østerbro), Frederiksberg, and Christianshavn.
The district is located west of the city center at the location of the old Western Gate (''Vesterport''), access way into the old city. The gate, along with the other three gates into the old city-- Østerport (Eastern Gate) near the current Østerport station), Nørreport (Northern Gate) near the current Nørreport station, and Amagerport (Amager Gate, i.e. functionally the Southern Gate) between Christianshavn and the island of Amager-- were dismantled in 1856.
The name Vesterbro literally translates into English as Western Bridge, and refers to the paved (Danish, brolagt) road leading into the city through the Western Gate. Vesterbro is the area of the bridge into the city of Copenhagen, which was a much smaller city at the time when the name was created. At that time, the city was ringed by a moat which exist today as the Tivoli lake and others.
The area is under the process of being renovated to a great extent and the renovation will end in 2017.[2] The environment and sustainability is one of the essential reasons for the renovation.[3] Vesterbro has a central location that makes it a favored place to live. It has had a reputation as a center for prostitution and drug trafficking, where only the poorest would live, and there is still a certain amount of these activities in the area, especially on Istedgade and near Halmtorvet, but there has been police focus on clearing up troublesome areas. The area is also known as the easy place to get drugs in Copenhagen.

Walking to the Comfort Hotel Vesterbro in Copenhagen, Denmark
Average 3* hotel with great location, very close to central station and main attractions of the city. No need for taxi or any other additional transportation. Hotel serves very good breakfast, wide choice of food. Room and bathroom is normal size. Bed and pillow soft and comfortable. My room had some kind of smell. Despite of that it was quite ok, good value for money as Copenhagen is rather expensive city.

Just behind the main railway station on the vibrant Vesterbrogade is KöD Vesterbro located. In addition to serving as a link between Vesterbro and inner Copenhagen, there are countless restaurants, cafés and bars on Vesterbrogade. At no. 33 KöD opened in April 2016, and has since been the favorite place for meat-hungry residents from Copenhagen as well as tourists.
As the name suggests they serve steaks from various carvings from Denmark, Uruguay, Australia, and the United States, served with homemade sauces and delicious side orders.
