Seychelles | La Digue Islands
La Digue is an island in the Seychelles, in the Indian Ocean off East Africa. It’s known for its beaches, like Anse Source d’Argent, dotted with granite boulders, on the west coast. To the south, isolated Anse Bonnet Carré Beach, with calm, shallow water, is accessible only on foot, as is Anse Cocos Beach, in a protected bay on the east coast. La Digue’s diverse wildlife can be seen in the Veuve Nature Reserve.
SEYCHELLES, LA DIGUE, THE WONDERFUL BEACHES
by Marco Petruzzelli
tvreporter.it
La Digue is one of the most undeveloped and traditional islands in the entire archipelago. The beautiful, uncrowded beaches are perfect for taking walks, as well as snorkeling in the crystalline water and swimming. The beaches of Anse Source d'Argent, Grand Anse, Severe Petite Anse, Anse Union are the most well known and beautiful beaches on La Digue. Petit Anse and Grand Anse are beautiful beaches, but the currents make them dangerous for swimming.
Some people consider La Digue to be the most beautiful island because of the combination of palm lined beaches, crystal blue waters, and enormous granite boulders. La Digue has a fish market at La Passe, which is full of fishermen selling fresh fish. You can rent a bicycle and travel all over the relatively flat coastal areas and beaches from the Anse Fourmis to the Grand Anse. La Digue Island is also the name of an upscale resort that is located farther inland close to a bird sanctuary called Veuve Reserve. Veuve Reserve is the home to numerous bird species, including the Black Paradise Flycatcher. There are only about 100 of these birds in existence.
Many of the attractions of La Digue are located only a short boat ride away from the larger island of Praslin. Tourists from every part of the world come to La Digue in the Seychelles so they can enjoy a wonderful vacation in comfortable, affordable accommodations, including the resort, lodges, and guest houses. The amazing land forms of La Digue including the white beaches and the granite cliffs give the island an aura of peace and serenity. The island is quite unspoiled, and life here is reminiscent of what the Seychelles looked like before becoming the tourist heaven it is today. The roads in La Digue aren't tarred, and there are only a few cars on the island. Most people get around on foot, by bike. Off shore are coral reefs, and snorkeling, swimming, or strolling are all very relaxing activities in this beautiful environment. Bacardi rum once filmed an ad on La Digue because of its great natural beauty. Nothing this beautiful can be found anywhere else in the world.
Seychelles Travelogue
ROBANCA TRAVELOGUES: A few days in the Seychelles in May 2019, staying firstly on Praslin Island at Anse Petite Cour and then moving on to the tiny Island of La Digue, staying close to La Passe. The Seychelles are famed for beautiful white sandy palm fringed beaches of the Indian Ocean and we are not disappointed. On La Digue we walk the one coastal road to Anse Fourmis and visit the Veuve Nature Reserve.

La Digue Island Lodge is one of the most unique and vintage establishments of Seychelles - surrounded by a lush green environment and a private stretch of beach. Nestled at the heart of 17.51 acres of sprawling grounds at Anse Reunion, the hotel is a time-honored establishment with its iconic Yellow House - that transcends the island’s traditions and way of life.
Our unique beachside setting boasts magnificent vistas of the neighboring islands and beautiful crystalline waters where colourful sunsets paint the skies on a daily basis.Arriving at La Digue feels like sailing straight into a painting, brimming with brush strokes of blue, green and tan. The beaches here are spectacular, particularly Grand Anse and Anse Source d'Argent, which is strewn with pink granite rocks. There are very few cars here, so traveling by bike or by ox cart is the way to go. Pedal over to Ile de Cocos for snorkeling or gawk at the rare Paradise Flycatcher (a beautiful black bird) at the Veuve Nature Reserve.

Seychelles Travel Guide - Exploring a hidden paradise
Seychelles Travel Guide - Exploring a hidden paradise
The Seychelles are a group of 115 islands, only a few inhabited, in the Indian Ocean that lie off the coast of East Africa, northeast of Madagascar. It's home to numerous beaches, coral reefs and nature reserves, as well as rare animals such as giant Aldabra tortoises. Mahé, a hub for visiting the other islands, is home to capital Victoria. It also has the mountain rainforests of Morne Seychellois National Park and beaches, including Beau Vallon and Anse Takamaka.
Mother Nature was unbelievably generous with the Seychelles, a fabled paradise whose islands lie scattered across the Indian Ocean. Spellbinding beaches are the main attraction. Exquisite ribbons of sand lapped by turquoise waters and backed by lush hills, palm trees and Dali-esque boulders. Beyond the beach, diving and snorkelling are brilliant in the warm waters amid abundant marine life, while few places on the planet do ocean-side luxury quite like the Seychelles. Mahé is the largest island and entry point to the Seychelles, with some fabulous resorts, restaurants and beaches, not to mention the small capital city of Victoria. But it's also the busiest island, with glorious Praslin and La Digue a short boat ride away. Even further out, there are real lost-world islands to be found.
