Via Garibaldi is street of the historical centre of Genoa, northern Italy, well known for its ancient palaces. The street dates back to the year 1550. Originally named as Strada Maggiore, then Strada Nuova, only in 1882 its name was dedicated to Giuseppe Garibaldi.
The street is 250 metres long and 7.5 metres wide. Since July 2006 Via Garibaldi is inscribed in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites as part of the system of the Palazzi dei Rolli and Strade Nuove del Centro Storico of Genoa.
Via Garibaldi, the Strada Nuova (New Street) dating to the mid-16th century, is also known as la Via Aurea (the Golden Street). With its beautiful palaces, it boasts some of the world's most fascinating architecture.

Palazzo Bianco (English: White Palace) is one of the main buildings of the center of Genoa, Italy. It is situated at 11, via Garibaldi (known at one time as Strada Nuova, and before that, Via Aurea).
It contains the Gallery of the White Palace, one of the greater city art galleries, and together with those of its neighbors Palazzo Rosso and Palazzo Doria Tursi, it forms part of a cluster of museums at that end of the street.
Genua Via Garibaldi 2011
Via Garibaldi is de paleisstraat van Genua en staat op de werelderfgoedlijst van de UNESCO. Een aantal paleizen zijn door bedrijven in gebruik en 3 zijn ingericht als museum. Palazzo Rosso met prachtige fresco's, de jaren 50 woning van de voormalige directeur en een geweldig uitzicht vanaf het dak op Genua. Palazzo Doria Tursi waarvan een deel het stadhuis is en Palazzo Bianco.
Mimo in Via Garibaldi a Genova
Quando torno a Genova mi sento un po’ ospite e turista, non più abituato al traffico, ma anche emozionato e stupito dalle sue bellezze.
Ieri in via Garibaldi, illuminata, magnifica e silenziosa, uscendo da Palazzo Tursi alla fine di un magnifico concerto verso le ore 23, ho incontrato un Mimo, che in modo discreto e gentile salutava i rari passanti, con una gradevole musica a basso volume di sottofondo. La serata era mite ed il mimo nel suo abito di scena non doveva aver freddo. Gli ho chiesto se fosse italiano e lui, professionalmente, senza parlare, mi ha fatto capire che veniva dall’isola greca di Rodi.
Mi pare di averlo già incontrato in passato, ma non so mai se si tratti di un déjà vu per l’emozione, che provo quando ritorno a Genova.
Spero che la città gli sia calda e ospitale come appariva ieri sera.
