Clipstone Colliery Annual Outing 1967
In 1967, Passenger trains arrived at Clipstone Colliery Railway Sidings for the first time since World War One. In this archive footage, 440 Children and 390 Adults travel by train from Clipstone, Nottinghamshire on the annual Colliery Outing to Cleethorpes on the East Coast of England. This archive material was originally captured by members of the Clipstone Colliery Cine Club and later transferred to video offering a rare glimpse into a bygone age.
Although Clipstone Colliery closed in 2002, the headstocks (Grade II listed structures) are still standing. The Clipstone Colliery Regeneration Group, established in 2013 wish to restore the site, finding alternative use for the headstocks, winding-house and surrounding grounds.
One concept involves its development as an Extreme Sports and Leisure Complex, enhancing other tourist attractions located in Sherwood Forest and the Dukeries such as; Centre Parcs Holiday Village, Sherwood Forest Holiday Cabins and popular cycle-routes that are located between Sherwood Pines, Kings Clipstone and Vicar Water Country Park in Clipstone Village.
The scheme which includes affordable housing, workshops and heritage centre, suggests adapting the Headstocks as a platform for Europe's longest Zip-line ride, providing local employment and building North Nottinghamshire's proposition as a viable world-class visitor destination.

In Memory of Old King Coal
The last of the UK's Deep Coal mines closed in Nottinghamshire. History and pictures of the Closed Clipstone Colliery. and Thoresby Colliery the most productive and one of the last to close. A sad demise of a once great industry that started the industrial revolution.
The once great nation that Built Ships of the Worlds Nations, and invented the railway. The last link with Britain's Illustrious industrial past has now gone. The Lights may now go out!

Silverhill Wood - The Summit of Nottinghamshire
Silverhill Wood which is on the site of Teversal Colliery (1868-1980) and Silverhill Colliery (1875-1992) contains the highest point in Nottinghamshire at 205 metres where there is the statue of a miner 'Testing for Gas'.
Views from the summit include:
Hardwick Hall
Bolsover Castle

Thieves Wood, Nottinghamshire.
This Woodland once straddled each side of the route known as the Great King's Way, linking London with Nottingham, Mansfield, and on to Yorkshire. It became known as Thieves Wood due to the Outlaws and Thieves who hid here, awaiting unsuspecting travellers to pass by.
Robin Hood's Way as referred to in this video, is now a popular public pathway through the woods. Picnic facilities and guide map are available. A part of the original Great King's Way still exists in this region.

My Story of Science Lab to Silly Vicar
The one Question I get asked more than any other is why I gave up work as a scientist and became a Priest. My son asked the TGI Mondays show how you can tell that God called you, did you feel him, see him or see him. I suppose I felt him deep within me and that was very annoying. I tried to get out of being called just like everyone else does, from Jeremiah in the Bible to Christians through the ages. In the end I gave in and tried to be as honest as possible in the interviews. I even said, 'I'm giving the world the finger'. Hoping that they would just say no to me. Sadly for my bank balance they said yes. But money is not worth that much I'll take Joy over cash any day. Also, I say some soppy things about my wife too.
I did a blog on what I said in the Vicar interviews ages ago and here it is:
26 mile bike ride around Sherwood forest & The Dukeries
visiting lots of interesting places on the way: Clipstone, Vicar Water, Welbeck, sherwood forest. Clipstone Junction. hazel gap,
The Dukeries is an area of the county of Nottinghamshire so called because it contained four ducal seats.
Worksop Manor: a home of the Dukes of Norfolk, and nearest to Worksop;
Welbeck Abbey: seat of the Dukes of Portland and
Thoresby Hall: seat of the Dukes of Kingston (later of the Earls Manvers);
Clumber House: seat of the Dukes of Newcastle
A fifth large country house, Rufford Abbey in this area belonged to the 2nd to 8th Savile baronets,
1st to 3rd Lords Savile. Welbeck Woodhouse is a further notable mansion, in the former park (grounds) of Welbeck Abbey and was built by Lord Portland in the 1930s.
Family Fishing Event in Nottingham!
Fishing is a fantastic sport and means of enjoying the environment and spending leisure time. Millions of people across the globe enjoy fishing on a daily basis. There are many different reasons why people go fishing - but the ultimate aim remains constant: to catch fish! Fishing rules and cultures vary, however, from country to country - which can be very confusing for our mobile 21st Century generations, as people from different countries travel across and to different continents to set up new lives. Alongside them are many indegenious anglers who are aware of their country's laws and culture, and who, of course, wish to continue enjoying their fishing and protect fish stocks. It is vitally important, therefore, that we all understand the angling law and culture in the country in which we live and fish.
Building Bridges is a joint project administered by The Angling Trust and Environment Agency

Apologies for the video quality as I had some stability issues wit the camera, this will be sorted in future videos. I thought that even though the quality was bad it was worth sharing this cool spot to Boondock/Free Camp.
