London, England: Westminster Abbey
Kings and queens have been crowned and buried since 1066 here in this most historic church in the English-speaking world. Filled with the remains of people who put the Great in Britain — saints, musicians, scientists, and soldiers — gloriously Gothic Westminster Abbey is the national church and the religious heart of the nation. English literature lovers find strolling through the memorials in Poets' Corner is a pilgrimage in itself.

Spootiskerry Swing (Nino Rota - Django Reinhardt - Ian Burns/Irish Trad.)
This is a medley of four tunes: the first one is “The Godfather – Love Theme” by Italian composer Nino Rota. Followed by Minor Swing, a popular Gypsy jazz tune composed by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. It was first recorded by The Quintet of the Hot Club of France in 1937. It was recorded five other times throughout Reinhardt's career and is considered to be one of his most covered compositions, as well as a Gypsy jazz standard.
Spootiskerry was composed by Shetland fiddler Samuel Ian Rothmar Burns (Ian Burns for short) in 1980. Spootiskerry is the name of a farm in the Burns family. A skerry is a group of rocks which is covered by the sea, but can sometimes be visible depending on the tide. It’s very popular in sessions in the northeast of England. Staten Island is a widely known session tune. This is one of those tunes which gets played as a reel in Scotland and England, and as an hornpipe in Ireland.

Melthem are:
Antonio Curiale: Fiddle, Viola d’Amore, Oud
Neil Corkery: Guitar
Alicja Omyłka: Voice
Matthew Mefford: Bass
Caspar Haslam: Percussions
The Project:
Led by Sicilian musician Antonio Curiale (Fiddle, Viola d’Amore, Oud), who has been active on the folk-world music scene in Italy and Europe since 1990, Melthem is a new interesting crossover music project based in York (UK), with multi-cultural influences and musicians.
It explores the boundaries of folk music across Europe through own original compositions or reinterpreting and renewing the traditional ones. In new compositions, folk traditions are considered as a substrate, a box full of artistic information that can suggest other relationships.
A characteristic feature of the band's sound is the Viola d'Amore, a 10 strings instrument, played in Europe in the 1700s, with 5 resonating strings. Also complete the sound a double bass, a violin, an Oud (12 strings Arabian lute), a voice and a mix set of drums/ethnic percussions.
