Victory memorial, Netanya, Israel
We have made a number of aerial videos of Netanya and this time we were flying over a unique memorial, The Victory Monument commemorating the victory of the Red Army over Nazi Germany. The memorial symbolizes the transition from darkness to light, it is designed as a maze, where historical tragic events during the Holocaust are depicted, and at the end of the maze you go out into the light facing the white wings, which symbolize hope and peace. The monument was inaugurated in the presence of Vladimir Putin and Shimon Peres. The Victory Monument is located near Yad Lebanim house (“A Memorial for the Sons”) and there is a memorial for the citizens of the city that have fallen in terror attacks in Natanya and elsewhere.

Wikipedia:
The Victory Monument in Netanya is a memorial that marks the victory of the Red Army over Nazi Germany in World War II. The monument was established by decision of the Government of Israel with the consent of the Russian government. The project was first proposed by Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on a trip to Moscow in February 2010.
The memorial consists of two elements which symbolize the transition from darkness to light reflecting the Russian military victory to stop the Holocaust of the Jewish people, followed by the establishment of the Jewish state in Israel. The memorial is designed as a maze, in which key tragic events in the history of the Jewish people during the Holocaust are depicted in reliefs.
A representation of the Second World War is contained in black bunker. On the right describes the Holocaust, and on the left describes the war between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. At the end of the maze - the emergence into the light and open air, where white wings soar to the heavens as a symbol of victory, hope and peace, against the backdrop of Netanya's coastline.
The monument was inaugurated at an official ceremony on 25 June 2012 with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. A number of Russian billionaires and Jewish philanthropists, including Mikhail Fridman, Boris Mints, and German Khan donated to create the memorial, in conjunction with efforts made by Keren Hayesod, the Russian Jewish Congress, the World Forum of Russian-Speaking Jewry, and United Israel Appeal. Yury Kanner, who heads the RJC, along with other state officials from both nations and Jewish leaders from around the globe, attended the memorial’s opening. The monument is believed to be the first memorial dedicated to the Red Army’s victory over German forces during the second world war, outside of former Soviet Union states.

Russian President Vladimir Putin attended a ceremony in Israel on Monday to unveil a monument to Soviet soldiers who fought against Nazi Germany.
The Red Army memorial in the city of Netanya was designed by Russian architects and sculptors.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres attended the event.
In his speech, Putin thanked Israel for helping preserve the memories of war heroes.
This will symbolize the undying memory of the heroic deeds, the courage of the whole wartime generation, of the numerous victims and irreplaceable losses... We highly appreciate that Israel shares our sincere feelings.
He also spoke out against attempts to falsify history.
We must preserve and defend the truth about the war and oppose any attempts to justify Nazism accomplices... Such revision of history is a crime to the memory about millions of people who sacrificed their lives for the victory.

Jun 25, 2012 Israel_Israel builds memorial to Soviet victory over Nazi Germany
A memorial dedicated to the Red Army's victory over Nazi Germany will be unveiled in the Israeli city of Netanya later on Monday.
It's the first national memorial in Israel devoted to the Soviet role in World War II.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who agreed to build the monument back in 2010, will be attending the ceremony, along with Israeli President Shimon Peres.
The monument consists of two parts - a corridor of memory and mourning with relief images of the Great Patriotic War and the Holocaust, as well as a white marble platform with the wings.
The monument was designed a team of sculptors including Israeli artist Khan Fiklr.
The work was difficult, as each artist has his own views and ideas. But it was great. And I hope that in future we can work together. The main idea of this monument is the recognition by Israelis the Soviet Army's victory over the Nazis, as well as support of warm relations between the Jewish and Russian peoples, Fiklr explains.
Netanya is home to many Soviet-born survivors of World War II.
Mark Zlobinsky, deputy head of the Municipality of Netanya, says: Among the new immigrants, about 1,000 people who know the horrors of war are now living in Netanya. We try to make sure that local people paid tribute to them, to understand what a huge contribution to victory was made by these people.
