Vidurashwatha (ವಿದುರಾಶ್ವತ್ಥ) : Jallianwala Bagh of the South
Vidurashwatha (Kannada:ವಿದುರಾಶ್ವತ್ಥ) is a small village located in the Gauribidanur taluk of Chikkaballapur district in the state of Karnataka, India. Situated near the Karnataka - Andhra Pradesh border and about 6 km from Gauribidanur, it had a major role to play in the freedom movement of India. The name Vidurashwatha is derived from that of a big Ashwatha (Ficus religiosa) tree located in this village. According to a legend of the times of Mahabharata, this tree was planted by Vidura, a courtier in the kingdom of Dhritarashtra; and hence the name Vidurashwatha. Unfortunately, in 2001, this ancient tree fell to the ground. There is also Naga Devatha Temple which is as old as the tree, here people do the prathishtapana of the naga god, to fulfil their desires, like having child, do better in business etc., the pooja here is done to alleviate all problems concerned with Naga dosha.

Nagashilas at Naga Devatha temple - Vidurashwatha, Kolar
Another beautiful temple located near Bangalore. Naga Devatha temple as the name suggests is dedicated to Naga Devata or the Snake God of the Hindus. People here install Naga Silas to ward off Naga Doshas.
However this Vidurashwatha and Gauribidanur as a place has their own importance.
Vidurashwatha is actually a small village situated in Gauribidanur taluk and relates to an event in Mahabharta. It’s 6Kms from Gauribidanur city. According to a legend during the period of Mahabharata, an Ashwatha (also called as fig) tree was planted by Vidura. Hence the name Vidurashwatha. It’s said that the tree fell in 2001. Vidura came here because he was advised by Krishna to go on a pilgrimage as he was remorseful after seeing bloodshed during the war between Kaurva and Pandava. After visiting many places, Vidura came to this place, which was actually a hermitage of Maithreya Maharishi.
Vidurashwatha is also known as the “Jallianwala Bagh of south India” because a similar incident of smaller scale took place here. On April 25, 1938, as a part of the freedom struggle of India, a group of villagers had gathered here to organize a Satyagraha. Similar to what happened at Jallianwala Bagh, police fired indiscriminately at this group, resulting in the death of many people.
A memorial has been erected in this location bearing the names of those who lost their lives in this incident.

India's 1st Somkeless Village Vychakurahalli, Gauribidanur
SashcollectionS: Until last month, Thimmakka had to blow her lungs out even to make a cup of coffee. And this had been her ritual for 40 years now. Not any more. Her kitchen is now fitted with an LPG stove. Like 274 other households in Vyachakurahalli of Gauribidanur taluk in Chikkaballapur district.
Cooking with firewood is passe in Vyachakurahalli since all households here have LPG. The Union petroleum ministry has officially declared it as India's first smokeless village, owing to its conversion from conventional fuel to LPG. My compliments to the residents of Vyachakurahalli which has been declared as the first smokeless village in India, tweeted petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) piloted the 'Mission Smokeless village' project here, about 77km from Bengaluru. The idea was to redeem women's health, said Moti Sayi Vasudevan, general manager (smokeless villages) at IOC. Due to the continuous inhalation of particles, women are more prone to pneumonia due to usage of firewood as a fuel.

Kappe Arebhatta Inscription
A small explanation video by Revival Heritage Hub regarding the Famous Kappa Arebhatta Inscription found in Badami, Karnataka, India.
Shrungagiri Sri Shanmukha Temple , bangalore
It was Lord Shanmukha’s own will to choose the barren Hillock in Rajarajeshwari Nagar as His abode and He inspired His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji of Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, to appoint Dr. R. Arunachalam as His contractor to build Shrungagiri Sri Shanmukha Temple on the hillock.
Thus ordained and blessed, Dr. Arunachalam’s extraordinary visionary capacity guided him to design the entire temple structure based on the very name of Lord Shanmukha, which means a ‘Six Faced God’. In other words, the design of the whole Temple is based on ‘Star” concept. The Sanctum (Garbha Gudi) and its outer circle (Prakara), devotees’ hall, outer walls, roof design – all are ‘Star’ shape constructions. The Temple Gopuram structure is the six faces of Lord Shanmukha.
This unique Temple is situated on a hillock which is 240’ from the ground level. The total height of the temple is 123’ of which the six faced Gopuram itself is 62’ (including 19’ up to neck). The Crystal Dome above the Gopuram has a height of 42’, with 33’ Diameter and 105’ Circumference. The six faces of Lord Shanmukha are 6” thick concrete moulded structures.
The Temple is the first of its kind not only in India, but also in the world. The salient features of the Temple can be summed up thus - the Sanctum Sanctorum (Garbha Gudi) is of traditional design, while the exterior of the Temple is of architectural design and the Temple Tower (Gopuram) is totally unique depicting the six faces of Lord Shanmukha. The Temple Tower is ultra modern and is being fitted with thousands of Crystals to receive and disperse an array of colorful LED & Laser lights. A laser graphic sky show is also being organized and the work is in full swing. Once completed, the Temple is bound to be a land mark tourist spot of Bangalore.
In addition to the Shanmukha Temple, a Panchamikhi Vinayaka Temple has also been constructed at the foot-hill of “Shrungagiri”. This temple is also unique inasmuch as the Panchamukhi Vinayaka is “Simhavaahanaroodha” (riding a lion). The temple complex also houses a “Nagara Katte” and plans are afoot to build a Shiva Temple and Navagraha Prathishtapana – both of which again would be unique in nature
