Austrian Food Review - 4 Dishes to try in Vienna, Austria
Come join us for Austrian Food as we review 4 different dishes that we try eating in Vienna, Austria at Schweizerhaus restaurant located in Prater. Having arrived in Prater to film the amusement park and famous ferris wheel Wiener Riesenrad. Knowing us, eating some traditional Austrian food was a priority before we got on any rides. Overall, we tried four different dishes keying in mostly on Viennese classics such as wiener schnitzel and apfelstrudel (apple strudel). The following is a list of food items from our meal:
1) Austrian Goulash (tasted more like Pörkölt)
2) Schnitzel (Wiener Schnitzel vom Schwein) with pork
3) Viennese potato salad (Wiener Erdäpfelsalat)
4) Viennese Apple Strudel (Wiener Apfelstrudel)
*A note about wiener schnitzel. It should be made with veal to be authentic. The one we got with pork would actually be called Wiener Schnitzel vom Schwein or Schnitzel Wiener Art.*

Austrian Food Review - 4 Dishes to try in Vienna, Austria Travel Video Transcript:
hello from a rather unusual dining spot. Today we're at an amusement park. We're visiting Prater (Schweizerhaus) and we got really hungry so we figured let's make a food video first, go on the rides later and we figured we should probably try some Austrian food.
So it is one of those cases where the food arrived before we even started filming our intro. So everything we're having is already at the table. We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel, we got some goulash, Viennese potato salad and it all looks amazing. So yeah let's dig in. And we even have dessert coming too. And beer.
And the beer is going to go so nicely with the schnitzel and goulash as well. So that is also exciting.
So you want to introduce us to your dish? Ah, I sure do. This is one of my favorite dishes in Central Europe. Look at that. Beef goulash. And you can see here it comes with pickles as well. Yeah. And it also comes with bread dumplings. Mmmhmm.
And I remember we made the mistake in when we had goulash in the Czech Republic of eating our bread dumplings with our hands and everyone was like you guys are like barbarians. You guys are like barbarians. Apparently you are supposed to use your fork and knife. Alright. We'll use our fork and knife. I'm going to do that this time. Proper cutlery.
The meat is so tender, the sauce, the gravy is so rich and flavorful. And just having the bread compliments it really nicely too. Oh my gosh this is awesome. I think the last time we had goulash must have been in Budapest so it has been a little while.
Back to the food. So I ordered the wienerschnitzel but the classic it is supposed to be veal. Yep. But they don't have that on the menu here. They have one made with pork. Um, so yeah that is the one we ordered. It is actually a lot cheaper when you order the one with veal it costs double. Yeah.
And this was only about 10 Euros. This was about 10 Euro. The one with veal you're looking more at around 20 Euros.
That is really nice. It is a really thin cut of meat. Um, I believe the way they make it is that they dip it in like whisked eggs. Or no, first flower, whisked eggs and then breadcrumbs. And then they fry it.
So over here we have potato salad. Yeah, this one apparently is a Viennese potato salad. Viennese. Austrian potato salad. Let's try that. Yeah. And it has onions. Red onion.
price point. So that meal came to 36 Euros and 10 cents. That was for beer, for mineral water, the potato salad, the wienerschnitzel, goulash, apfelstrudel (apple strudel) for dessert. So ordered quite a bit. Yeah. We are leaving stuffed.

On a spur of the moment trip, we decided to catch a train from Munich, Germany to Salzburg, Austria - which is just a 1.5 hour train ride away. We only had a few hours, so I wanted to make the most of eating Austrian food for the time we had. We also were able to walk around Salzburg and visit some famous attractions during the day.
Here’s the list of Austrian food I ate during a one day trip to Salzburg, Austria:
1. Cafe Am Kai - Cafe Am Kai is a nice trendy cafe along the river with great views. I ordered a kleiner brauner, a type of Austrian style coffee and an apple strudel. Total price - 14.40 EUR for 3 of us
2. Bärenwirt Restaurant - This is a restaurant that serves fantastic home-style Austrian food in Salzburg. To begin with I ordered frothed beer soup, which was very creamy and pretty good. I ordered my first ever wiener schnitzel in Austria, which is one of the Austrian food national dishes. Finally I had to try the Austrian käsespätzle an extremely warming and cheesey pasta dish. Price - 33.90 EUR
3. Balkan Grill Walter - Balkan Grill is known to serve the best bosna sausage, a type of Austrian food sausage that originates from Salzburg. It was honestly an amazing sausage, but I think it would have been better with some kind of sauce on it. Bosna sausage - 3.70 EUR
4. Augustiner Bräu Kloster Mülln - There’s no doubt Augustiner Bräu Kloster Mülln is the best of the best, an institution beer garden and hall in Salzburg. They serve your beer right out of the barrel, and it’s amazingly crisp. You can then walk around and order Austrian food from any number of the food stalls. Small beer - 3.10 EUR, ribs and sausage plates - 14.95 EUR, fish - 9 EUR
We then completely ran out of time and had to run to the Salzburg train station to catch our train back to Munich!
Thank you very much for watching this Austrian food tour in Salzburg!

Vienna Apartment Tour in Austria
Join us in Vienna, Austria for an apartment tour as we showcase our airbnb rental in Neubau neighborhood of the city.
AirBnB Discount Code:
Our AirBnB In Vienna:
Apartments in Vienna are typically rather expensive so for us to find something in the $60 USD range so last minute was quite a deal in our opinion. Our friends, for instance, ended up paying over $100 for a last minute booking. The apartment itself was adequate and featured everything we needed for our stay. The views outside on the balcony were definitely the best feature along with the tasteful decorations with a vintage camera atmosphere.
In terms of our location Neubau ended up being a great location as it was only about a 20-25 minute walk away from the city center and features a lot of great restaurants, cafes and a flea market. Think hipster hangout. My suggestion for those finding it difficult to get an apartment within your price range would be to seek an apartment in Vienna (Wien) slightly on the outskirts nearby an U-Bahn line as the public transportation in Vienna is excellent and reaching the center on the train would be really easy.

Vienna Apartment Tour in Austria Airbnb Rental Video Transcript:
Good morning good morning. Where are we and why are we here? Well, it is time for another apartment tour. We're in Vienna, Austria. A city we've wanted to visit for a long time. Yeah, and yeah we're staying in the 7th district. What is the neighborhood called again? We're in Neubau. Ah, right. And we really liked this neighborhood. Very hipster. Super hipster. Oh my goodness. And not too too far away from the city center. Like we were able to walk to the center you know. Usually like 20 minutes which isn't bad. Yeah. But without further adieu let's get the apartment tour underway.
Let's wrap this up. So this place came to around $60 USD a night. Yeah. And you might think that is typically more than what we spend on an Airbnb. But Vienna is a very expensive city. Yeah.
It is probably one of the most expensive cities we've ever visited in Europe. It is like right up there for everything. Meals are expensive. Um, attractions are expensive and also accommodations is. Like normally for other apartments that were of this size and quality a lot of them were going for $80 to 90 dollars. Yeah. So we thought we got a bit of a steal at sixty bucks a night.
And you know what? We had some friends who booked an apartment very last minute and they ended up paying over 100 bucks for an airbnb which is like what?
That is Vienna (Wien) for you. Yeah. So we got a really good deal. Um, one thing that is really cool though about this city is the city has great public transportation. Yes. With trams and also with U-Bahn so if you are finding like the prices a little bit too high around the center you can consider staying in more of the outskirts of the city. Even more so than what we did. Yeah. That would be my recommendation but yeah the city is fantastic and we did have a really good time here.
Mmmhmm. We sure made the most of it. We had a lot of meetups with friends. We did a lot of sightseeing and we also got a lot of work done. So it was just like a go go go time here.
Our week just flew by. And yeah we really like Vienna, Austria and I'd definitely I'd definitely come back here again. I don't know about you? Of course! Of course. Oh my gosh. Of course. I loved it. It is a beautiful city. You loved it too. Yes, but anyways now it is time to head out to the train station because we are going to Bratislava. Bratislava. So tata. So stay tuned for our content from there. Yep. Tschuess. Cheers.

Naschmarkt Wien - Daily Market Vienna - Österreich / Austria
A new Naschmarkt Wien - Daily Market Vienna - Österreich / Austria video
The Naschmarkt is Vienna's most popular market. Located at the Wienzeile over the Wien River, it is about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) long.
The Naschmarkt around 1900
The Naschmarkt has existed since the 16th century when mainly milk bottles were sold (as milk bottles were made out of ash (wood from an ash tree), Asch (German for ash) led to the name Aschenmarkt). From 1793 onwards, all fruits and vegetables brought to Vienna with carts had to be sold there, while goods arriving on the Danube were sold elsewhere. Nowadays, one can buy fresh fruit and vegetables from around the world, exotic herbs, cheese, baked goods such as bread, kaiser rolls, and torte, meats, and seafood. There are also many small restaurants which offer e.g. sushi, kebab, seafood, traditional Viennese food such as Kaiserschmarrn or Palatschinken (compares to rolled up crepes) and stalls which offer clothes and accessories. Since 1977, the market extends further along the Wienzeile to an adjacent area every Saturday, when a flea market takes place there.
The atmosphere of the Naschmarkt is famous far beyond the borders of Vienna, and large numbers of tourists visit the market every year.

Austrian Breakfast in Vienna, Austria | Wiener Frühstück (Viennese Breakfast) Food Video Transcript:
Good morning good morning. It is a beautiful Friday here in Vienna (Wien). Yeah, it is. And we're hungry. We woke up with an appetite so we're going to go in search of a typical Austrian and Viennese breakfast. Oh yes, and there is a place we have in mind just around the corner. So let's go there.
We've also noticed there is a big cafe culture here in Vienna so you always see you know the patios, cafes, restaurants they are full no matter what day of week it is, what time it is. People are out brunching and eating. So yeah, that is one thing that I really do like about the city because I like my food.
This is our beautiful street. Just look at that architecture up ahead. The streets in Vienna are stunning.
We made it to the restaurant we had in mind. It is called Wirr. Not entirely sure what that means but they do have a cool menu with alien cats.
We came here a few days ago and we actually had more of a Middle Eastern breakfast. Like Sam had this giant hummus platter. It was so good. With falafel and it had shakshouka and it was really good. Yep. But we also noticed on the menu that they specialize in a Viennese breakfast and they also have a farmer's breakfast. Yes. So that is what we've ordered and yeah it should be coming soon.
I got myself a cafe latte. Nice and milky and frothy. Yeah.
And we've been noticing they sure do good coffees in this city. Oh, they do. Oh my. They do. And Sam got a little cappuccino in a cute little blue cup.
Our Viennese breakfast has arrived. This is the Wiener Frühstück and it comes with semmel which I've already dug into. It is for our Spanish speaking clip we did. Haha. It is just so warm and fresh out of the oven. This is a nice bread and it also came with croissant. We have some ham, some cheese, a hard boiled egg, butter, jam and I can already tell you I am a big fan. This is a typical Viennese breakfast. Yep. This is the Viennese one. Yep. We'll showcase the other one in a moments time. But this bread roll. Oh my gosh. I don't know like we've been in Vienna how many days and we've managed to only discover this bread roll today? How is it possible?
So now let's dig into the farmer's breakfast. Yeah, this poor little plate has been neglected. We've been chowing down on the other one so much.
So we'll give you a little tour. So we've got the nice bread over here. Yeah and it came with two slices. Yes. Two very thick slices of cheese. It looks like aged cheese. And then we have um the egg which I'll be giving to you. This is I think kind of like a carrot cream cheese.
And then of course we have the gurken - the pickles. And then we have something like prosciutto. It does look like deli meats. It looks like really good quality meat.
And price point for that meal? And to wrap things up yeah that came to just over 23 Euro so that included the two drinks and the two mains. So yeah it was a really good breakfast. We'd recommend going there and yeah we're very satisfied. We're very full. But also ready to start the day we're going to go explore more of Vienna (Wien) right now.
