Музей кошек Мурариум в ЗеленоградскеГородская водонапорная башня была построена в Кранце в 1904 году на Аугуста штрассе. Высота башни составляет 40 м.

В первые послевоенные годы была предпринята неудачная попытка ремонта водонапорной башни, после чего башня по прямому назначению не использовалась.

Krynica Morska, Poland

The Vistula Spit offers wonderful opportunities for motorhomers in summer. With sea, forest and beaches on both sides, there are plenty of places to spend the day - and although in theory one is not allowed to camp there no-one has ever moved me on. Krynica Morska is the main town on the spit.

Before 1945 the area was part of East Prussia (within Germany from 1870) and was known as Kahlberg. The settlement was first mentioned in 1424, and became a summer resort around 1840. Following World War II the native German populace was expelledand replaced by Poles. When it came under Polish rule after the Second World War, it was given the name Łysica (the Polish rootłys- corresponding to the German kahl, meaning bald). In 1958 it was renamed Krynica Morska (Krynica is an obsolete, poetic term for spring; Morska meaning of the sea, i.e., sea spring or seaside spring) as opposition to the other famous Polish resort of Krynica.

Krynica Morska is the main tourist destination on the Vistula Spit. The administrative area of the town extends along most of the Polish part of the spit, up to the Russian border, also including a number of other localities such as Przebrno and Piaski (the latter being about 4 kilometres from the border, which is not crossable at present).

​The Lighthouse in Krynica Morska was originally built in 1895. It was destroyed in 1945 after being mined by retreating German forces. A new lighthouse, now open to visitors, was built in 1951. Adjacent to it is a small cemetery with a monument to the Sovietsoldiers killed in the explosion that destroyed the original building.

The Curonian Spit - Part 1

The Curonian Spit (Lithuanian: Kuršių nerija, Russian: Куршская коса, German: Kurische Nehrung, Latvian: Kuršu kāpas) is a 98 km long, thin, curved sand-dune spit that separates the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea coast. Its southern portion lies within Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia and its northern within southwestern Lithuania. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared by the two countries.Unfortunately, the dunes are threatened by drifting sands and an increasing number of tourists. In the last 30 years the Parnidis dune lost about 10 m in height. (Wikipedia)

The Hanseatic League (; Middle Low German: Hanse, Düdesche Hanse, Hansa; Standard German: Deutsche Hanse; Standard
Dutch: De Hanze; Latin: Hansa Teutonica) was a commercial and defensive confederation of merchant guilds and market towns in Northwestern and Central Europe. Growing from a few North German towns in the late 1100s, the league came to dominate Baltic maritime trade for three centuries along the coasts of Northern Europe. Hansa territories stretched from the Baltic to the North Sea and inland during the Late Middle Ages, and diminished slowly after 1450.
Hanse, later spelled as Hansa, was the Old High German word for a convoy, and this word was applied to bands of merchants traveling between the Hanseatic cities – whether by land or by sea.Merchant circles established the league to protect the guilds' economic interests and diplomatic privileges in their affiliated cities and countries, as well as along the trade routes which the merchants used. The Hanseatic cities had their own legal system and operated their own armies for mutual protection and aid. Despite this, the organization was not a state, nor could it be called a confederation of city-states; only a very small number of the cities within the league enjoyed autonomy and liberties comparable to those of a free imperial city.

Ball lightning

Ball lightning is an unexplained atmospheric electrical phenomenon. The term refers to reports of luminous, spherical objects which vary in diameter from pea-sized to several meters. It is usually associated with thunderstorms, but lasts considerably longer than the split-second flash of a lightning bolt. Many early reports say that the ball eventually explodes, sometimes with fatal consequences, leaving behind the odor of sulfur. Many scientific hypotheses about ball lightning have been proposed over the centuries. In January 2014, spectrography data that was captured by chance (discussed below) lent support to the vaporized silicon hypothesis.
Until the 1960s, most scientists argued that ball lightning was not a real phenomenon, despite numerous sightings throughout the world. Laboratory experiments can produce effects that are visually similar to reports of ball lightning, but whether these are related to the natural phenomenon remains unclear.

Scientific data on natural ball-lightning remains scarce, owing to its infrequency and unpredictability. The presumption of its existence depends on reported public sightings, which have produced somewhat inconsistent findings. Owing to inconsistencies and to the lack of reliable data, the true nature of ball lightning remains unknown. The first ever optical spectrum of what appears to have been a ball-lightning event was published in January 2014, and included a video at high frame-rate.
