Iceland 20150724.5 Birkimelur Swimming Pool to Breiðavík
Drive day #2 of our two week road trip around Iceland. This is Mobius ActionCam wide angle video of the drive from Birkimelur Swimming Pool to Breiðavík along 62 and 612 in the Westfjords. We are driving a 2014 Kia Sorento Diesel.
These two roads are noted as having high rates of accidents for visitors to Iceland. There are examples of the road exposure at 14:00, 32:00, 37:30 and 43:30, but due to the wide angle lens it doesn't appear as steep as it actually is.

Ég vefðist um þig, væri í faðmi þínum,
uns vekti ég þig, með ljósgeislunum mínum.
Ég vildi feginn verða að ljósum degi,
en vera stundum myrk og þögul nótt;
þá væri ég leiðarljós á þínum vegi,
þig lyki ég faðmi þá þú svæfir rótt.
Svo undur dauðtrúr ég þér skyldi reynast
og o´ní gröf ég með þér færi seinast.

Sundhollin Thermal Pool
Sundhöllin (Translation: The Swimming palace) is a thermal pool a short walk from the bus station at Hlemmur. Sundhöllinn is an indoor pool with an outdoor Jacuzzi and hot pots. Just a short distance from the center of town, it is the oldest pool in Reykjavík. The pool is always popular with locals who feel it has a certain level of authenticity to it.
Laugavegur shopping street is just a stone's throw away, so for those shopping or walking in the vicinity, dropping in at Sundhöllinn is a wonderful way to relax and recharge. If it's cold outside or perhaps even snowing and you're not inclined to swim outdoors, then this is the pool to visit.

Dangerous world-famous Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach in Iceland
Visitors to Reynisfjara must be made well aware of the potential dangers present at the beach. First of all, the rolling, roaring waves of Reynisfjara are particularly violent, often pushing far further up the beach than many would expect.
These are called sneaker-waves, and they can appear when least expected, even on incredibly still days. There are no significant landmasses in between Antarctica and the shores of Reynisfjara, meaning waves have thousands of kilometers to build.
Visitors are advised to never turn their back on the waves, and keep a safe distance of at least 30 meters (98 feet).
Seljavallalaug Swimming Pool, Iceland, April 2017
Seljavallalaug is an outdoor swimming pool in South Iceland, roughly ten kilometres (six miles) east of Ásólfsskáli.
History of Seljavallalaug
The pool was built in 1923, making it one of the oldest swimming pools in Iceland. The actual oldest is the Secret Lagoon in Flúðir, which dates all the way back to 1891.
Seljavallalaug is 10 metres (30 feet) in width and 25 metres (82 feet) in length. This made it the largest swimming pool in Iceland until 1936. The largest today is Laugardalslaug in Reykjavík.
Its establishment was designed to be a place for children to learn how to swim. In spite of being a nation of largely fishermen, swimming was not a widely practised skill back then. Nowadays, every child is taught it in school as a mandatory requirement.
Since it was built, Seljavallalaug has experienced few changes. Because of its South Coast location, however, it was affected by the 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajökull glacier. It was entirely filled with ash, making it unusable, until the following summer, when a team of volunteers cleared it out.

Swimming Iceland 2017
After a wonderful day of driving and seeing the amazing Dynjandi Waterfall, this finished the day of just perfectly.....
We had driven through deserted mountain gravel roads and down into the base of a Fjord only to find this Swimming pool, quite literally in the middle of nowhere..... Amazing....
It would have just been rude to just drive by!
Enjoy the view....
Fontana Spa Iceland 2018
A unique experience of the healing powers of the geothermal springs. Soak in a natural pool, listen to the bubbling hot spring in the steam rooms, or for the venturesome, take a dip in an icy cold but refreshing lake.

This is where Dir Holley is drawing pretty pictures of black sand and white waves. At the end of the Dirhallay, there is Rainni Speara, a unique white stucco that is one of the best in Iceland. It seems as if someone has carved a stone into a square shape and piled it up. Everyone who visits here has one thing to do. Sitting in a variety of poses right on the stone, and taking pictures. It's a dream for photographers. I have a lot of opportunities to take pictures. I only used two batteries today. The second camera, too. On the cliff, you can also see a small cave built by a rugged terrain. In this cave you can see the lower section of the stone pillar. It seems to me to see the great work that the Creator made for a long time. Today is one of the many days that have created the work.
[Iceland: Google Translator]
The second myndavél líka.
