This is the short audio-video presentation they do at the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo, Norway on the lifecycle of a Viking ship.
Viking Ship Museum in Oslo, Norway!
Let's head to the Vikingskipshuset Viking Ship Museum in Oslo, Norway! This museum has 3 separate viking ships with 2 that are mostly complete: The Oseberg and The Gokstad, and a 3rd that is only partially complete: The Tune.
All the viking ships at the museum were ocean going vessels before they were hauled onto land to be used in burial rituals for their wealthy owners. In the burial mounds, archaeologists unearthed sceletons, wood carvings and many artifacts from the time of the vikings!

OSLO PASS | Oslo on a budget with Oslo City Pass | Plus, the Viking Ship Museum
Oslo, Norway is an expensive city. Thankfully, you have the option of Oslo Pass, a bundle that can save you money while traveling in Oslo.
Full review of Oslo Pass here:
The Oslo Pass gives you the freedom to travel by bus, tram, underground for free within Zone 1 and 2 - pretty much all of central Oslo. I chose to ride bus 30 to the exciting Bygdøy Peninsula, where two of Oslo's most popular museums are located. By the way, if you have an Oslo Pass, admission to these museums is free - along with about 30 other museums in Oslo!
The Viking Ship Museum is one of the best museums I've ever been in. It was built specifically to house two excavated, well preserved Viking Ships from the 800s. You can also find so many Viking artifacts inside the ship.
Not far from the Viking Museum in Oslo, the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History is also highly recommended. There are around 150 structures here to showcase Norwegian culture and architecture in an open air museum. You can also visit some of the inside exhibits, where you can find several friendly and knowledgeable attendants.
The highlight of the Norsk Folkemuseum is the Stave Church. It was an authentic 13th century wooden church, brought over from Gol. You can step inside to admire its amazing preserved structure, and talk to the attendant lady to learn more about it.
Thanks to Visit Oslo for providing me with an Oslo Pass.

Archaeologists Scouring The Norwegian Countryside Have Discovered An Enormous Viking Ship
Archaeologists working in a Norwegian field didn’t rate their chances of finding anything exciting. However, then they came across the remains of a Viking longship from around 1,000 years ago. It’s spring 2018, and archaeologists are exploring the area around a 30-foot-high Viking-era mound southeast of Norway’s capital, Oslo. Rather than digging, the team are…

World's best preserved Viking ships - the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo
The Viking Ship Museum in Oslo houses the world's best preserved real viking ships from the Viking Age. The largest of the ships, the Oseberg Ship, is believed to have been the burial site for one or two very wealthy Viking women, perhaps even a queen. The Oseberg ship was found in 1903 and excavated over the two following years. New viking age discoveries and finds of this size are rare so travel to Oslo and learn more about the Vikings and their culture!
