My Choice - Victoria, Gozo: Villa Rundle Gardens (Capriccio Italien)
The Capriccio Italien Op. 45 is a fantasy for orchestra and was composed by Pyotr llyich Tchaikovsky in 1880.
We'll take a tour of the newly rehabilitated Villa Rundle Gardens found in Victoria, Gozo, Malta. This Garden was laid out by the British in 1910 and in it we find a wide variety of local and imported trees. It is a garden of peace and tranquillity filled with colorful flowers, palm trees, indigenous ficus nitida trees, olive and palm trees and many beautiful bushes and plants, a nice bridge and a fountain.

We start amongst Villa Rundle Garden Triq Ninu Cremona, Victoria .Right next to the Duke Shopping Centre these delightful gardens are beautifully maintained and a lovely way to while away an hour or so.
Then it follows Victoria (also known as Rabat) the capital of Gozo Island, in Malta.
We pass Independence Square and we are then welcomed by St George's Basilica.
Our next stop is at The Citadel Victoria, Island of Gozo, Malta
Once in Gozo, one should surely go to the Citadel. With only a few families living within the Citadel walls, and the magnificent baroque Cathedral of Gozo, the Gozitan Law Courts and the Bishop's Palace at the piazza, this place will take you back in time and helps you imagine of how live was back in the days.

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and national shrine located some 700 metres from the village of Għarb on the island of Gozo, the sister island of Malta. The church is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu.

Right next to the Duke Shopping Centre these delightful gardens are beautifully maintained and a lovely way to while away an hour or so. Some lovely statues and some impressive plants and trees, some of which, were planted over 100 years ago. A lot of thought has gone into the use of space and colour in this garden and the centrepiece bridge is lovely.

There's a visitors' Centre, the Cathedral Museum, the Museum of Archaeology, the Folklore Museum, the Gozo Nature Museum, the Old Prison, the Old Gunpowder Magazine, the Grain Silos, the Battery and the World War II Shelter. So if you're into history, there's a lot to see.
Just walk in the Citadel's narrow streets, and appreciate the calmness it is surrounded by.

To complement our tour we're featuring two beautiful musical selections:
1. The beautiful Overture - Prelude to Act 1 of La Traviata, an Italian Opera by Giuseppe Verdi, played by Andre' Rieu. La traviata is an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi set to an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave. It is based on the novel La dame aux Camélias by Alexandre Dumas, fils, published in 1848. The title La traviata means literally The Woman Who Strayed, or perhaps more figuratively, The Fallen Woman. It was originally titled Violetta, after the main character.
2. Nuns' Chorus from the Opera Casanova by Johann Strauss II. The Nuns' Chorus is an extract from the operetta Casanova by Johann Strauss. Seducteur 'par excellence', soldier, spy, diplomat, writer and adventurer Giacomo Casanova who lived in Venice during the 18th century and is known above all for his conquests of women. Worried at the inquiries being made by certain Venetien husbands, he flees the town and we find him in a Bohemian castle where he has been welcomed by the Duke of Waldstein who suggests he should make an inventory of the vast library there. However, our hero is fascinated by his own written works with which he attempts to lure the serving-girl Laura Brock. In this aria and dialogue with the nuns, the soprano cornet tells of the juxtaposition between the devout (chorale) and the attempted seductions of Casanova.
