Places to see in ( Montefrio - Spain )
Montefrio is a municipality in the province of Granada. The ruins of a Moorish castle sit near the highest point. Being built midway between the Sierra de Priego and Sierra Parapanda, and commanding the open valley between these ranges, Montefrio became one of the chief frontier fortresses of the Moors in the 15th century.
The climate of Montefrío is a continental Mediterranean type. The economy is typically agrarian, with olives as the main crop. The relatively limited industry revolves around agricultural processing such as oil and dairy products. Near Montefrio is a vast archaeological site known as Las Peñas de los Gitanos, famous for its prehistoric tombs and remains of Roman and Visgothic settlements.
Montefrío's main road has many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. It leads on to Plaza Virgen de Los Remedios which then leads on to Plaza de España. Montefrio's primary church is the only round church in the whole of Spain since its recapture from Arabian control.
Montefrío is in the northwest of the province of Granada, situated in the region of Loja. The township occupies about 254 km2 and has a density of 25.37 inhabitants / km ². Montefrio is limited on the north with the municipalities of Priego de Córdoba and Almedinilla (Córdoba) and Alcalá la Real (Jaén); the southeast with íllora, on the south by Villanueva Mesia and Stump; and on the southwest by Loja and Algarinejo, the latter belonging to the province of Granada.
The municipality counts with the annexed of Lojilla . This small village is located about 7 km from the village. The only access is to Lojilla is by the road between Montefrío and Alcalá la Real, from the junction at “La venta del conejo”. From the A92, exit Huétor-Tájar, then up the road connecting the two towns, bordering the creek Milanos, which is the best option. One can also reach Montefrío from neighboring villages and Algarinejo íllora through local roads. The major elevations are the Sierra de Parapanda with 1,604 m at the boundary between Montefrío and íllora, and saw the peak Chanzas Pepper of 1,213 m between Montefrío and Algarinejo.
Montefrio´s economy is based on agriculture and animal husbandry. Must emphasize the 16,221 olives of which 15204 belong to dry farming and irrigated rest. Within arable crops we highlight the 471 ha of barley and 12 ha of potato (SIMA 2007).
As for livestock, Montefrío in the eighteenth century became one of the most important pastoral areas of eastern Andalusia (about 50,000 head of cattle). Currently these figures are substantially lower, highlighting the pigs won, goat and sheep. It is this primary sector that derives little existing industry. A cooperative dairy related products, the cheese is famous throughout Spain; several mills, two of which incorporated cooperatives; companies engaged in the development of products derived from the olive; and a high-quality meat products. Finally, we mention the tourist sector. Montefrío has one of the richest historical and cultural heritage of the province, however the impact of tourism in the city is minimal.

The castle of Moclín in Andalusia, Spain
Moclín is an atmospheric mountain village located around 26km from Granada. The place has a fascinating and violent history, but is relatively unknown.
I was there a Friday afternoon in July 2018. I only saw three people -- and they lived there. The castle was closed and just open on weekends, if you call in advance. That's how unpopular it is.
Since I couldn't enter the fortress, I decided to walk around it and watch it from above.

Calafell itself is a town steeped in a rich historical heritage. Set around a medieval castle, Calafell is a typical Roman Villa, which was actually created around 2,500 year ago and then taken over during the Roman Occupation and further developed.
The charming town offers typical amenities and services of a small town, with a selection of shops, bars and restaurants. For more options, you just need to head down the hill to Segur and to Calafell Beach where you will find a decent shopping centre, outdoor markets and tourist shops at the area known as La Platja, the old fishing quarter, or to the new Marina de Calafell.
Calafell situated on the Costa Dorada in Catalonia is a historical town situated atop a hill, 1.5 kilometres from its coastal counterparts, Segur and Calafell Beach. The area is a popular holiday destination, set between Tarragona and Barcelona, around 47 kilometres from Reus Airport and 60 kilometres from Barcelona Airport.
Calafell is an ideal destination for those wishing to combine a beach holiday, with a chance to explore the Costa Dorada and some of the wonderful old Roman and medieval towns in the area, including Calafell itself.
Close by it is worth visiting the small village of Les Toixoneres, which dates back to around the 5th and 2nd centuries BC and is know as the Iberian Citadel of Calafell. The village was reconstructed to show how citizens might have lived 2,500 years ago. In Calafell itself visit the 11th century Romanesque church of Santa Creu.

This is a really special town house due to its location in a very lovely square in the heart of this popular town. It would make an ideal holiday home and would rent well to people wanting a taste of a real spanish town with amazing features.
This property has been reformed to a really good standard and because of the layout it could even be converted to two apartments as both floors have a kitchen. On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen, double bedroom and bathroom plus cosy sitting room with log burner. Up on the 1st floor there are 3 bedrooms - two doubles and a single. All you need to do is fit a bathroom on this e is already a wash basin and wc. It might also be prudent to make one of the bedrooms into a sitting room then you would certainly have another apartment ready to rent or for holiday lets. On this floor there is access to a small outside terrace. Then up a few steps to a storeroom which has a door leading to another terrace with great views of the castle and the countryside. Excellent value for money and loads of potential to offer as a holiday home and renting out.
