City Twin Cinemas (Australian ad) 1983
City Twin Cinemas commercial from 1983 transferred from beta tape. A very cheesy obscure early 80s commercial for City Twin Cinemas in Launceston Tasmania. Did a Google map street view of the location, it is now Village Cinemas.

20 years later: return to Launceston
I moves away from Launceston, Tasmania at the start of 1999. 20 years have passed by in a flash.
I decided 20 years was a good time to return and I re-vist my old apartment in Launceston.
It was good to be back at an apartment I had lived at for over three years in the 90s. Some things had changed, some just looked a little different.
Will it take me another 20 years to return?

Arthouse Hostel - Launceston Backpacker Hostel
The Arthouse Backpacker Hostel is Launceston's newest backpacker hostel in one of Launceston's oldest buildings. Built in 1888, the building at 20 Lindsay Street has seen quite a life, and has now been completely refurbished, and the bathrooms have been literally removed and replaced. Being Heritage Listed, we have taken care to keep the original Victorian Italianette character, and kick-your-shoes-off comfort.

Tasmania is great from the sea to the mountains
The world is like a brand new coloring book...
Tasmania is an island located south of Australia. In the space of three days, the Tasman crew and I ventured through the island's most interesting spots while experiencing landscapes that I had only seen before in movies and wild fauna like I had never experienced before.
From Hobart to Launceston, Tasmania gave us the opportunity to commune with nature, I mean, it even deprived us of our cell phones so we had a better appreciation of what was around us.
Heaps of wild wallabies, equidnas, wombats and many species of birds were surrounding us at all times. They were sharing with us this adventure and actually welcomed us really well into their homes amongst nature.
I loved the alpine hikes that you can find in Tasmania, especially Cradle Mountain which I found a little bit challenging, but beautiful. If you are planning to go there, I recommend you bring some good warm clothes and also some beer for the way, I assure you it will stay cold at all times xP

The 1929 Launceston floods
In April 1929, Launceston was devastated by floods which inundated large parts of Invermay and Inveresk, as well as other low lying areas of the city.
Inveresk and Invermay were evacuated without loss of life, but 22 people were killed in other flood-affected areas around Tasmania.
More than 4000 Northern Tasmanians were left homeless by the floods, and the city took many years to recover from the disaster.
Since 2010, the City of Launceston and Launceston Flood Authority have been working on a $58m project, aimed at reconstructing the city's flood levees.
