Fling Golf - New Way to Experience a Traditional Game
By Meg Matthews, Public Information Coordinator Arkansas State Parks
Two of the most beautiful golf courses in Arkansas are at our state parks: DeGray Lake Resort State Park in Bismark and Village Creek State Park in Wynne. Spending the day enjoying the lush greens and beautiful natural surroundings is an experience familiar to golfers. However, you don't need to know the difference between a 9-iron and a pitching wedge to join in on the fun. Fling Golf is a cross between lacrosse and traditional golf. Players use a fling stick to toss the ball down the course and eventually putt it in. This new game is easier to learn than traditional golf and much less expensive. State park visitors can rent a stick for FREE and just pay the green fees. It would be a great part of a family weekend getaway. For those of you who enjoy the comfort of a hotel, the lodge at DeGray Lake Resort State Park is for you. After a round of fling golf you can eat at the delicious Shoreline restaurant and retire to your room. For those of you who like a more rustic experience, the cabins at Village Creek will be right up your alley. Either way, working in a game of fling golf will be a memory making experience!

Dogpatch USA Theme Park | Abandoned Amusement Park | Arkansas | USA | HD
Dogpatch USA was a former theme park located in northwest Arkansas along State Highway 7 between the cities of Harrison and Jasper, an area known today as Marble Falls. It was opened in 1968, and was based on the comic strip Li'l Abner, created by cartoonist Al Capp and set in a fictional village called Dogpatch. The property that comprised Dogpatch USA was leased in late 2017 to Heritage USA, Inc. and is being renovated to become the site of production and broadcast studios, and an RV park, hotel, theater and theme park. The new park is named Heritage USA Ozarks Resort at Historic Dogpatch, and is currently open while undergoing renovations.

Finally got the bros to Arkansas. Once they arrived we got and the car and just let the stoke lead the way. Ending up seeing a lot of what Arkansas has to offer. Highly recommend taking a road trip with some close friends with no agenda and just seeing where the trip takes you.

Patricks Point State Park
This California State Park is possibly one of the best camping spots if you like dramatic ocean vistas. It is in Northern California in Humboldt County. The beach is called Agate Beach as it is common for people to walk the shoreline and find beautiful agate stones at the surf line. The park setting and stone grotto is ideal for weddings and other special occasions. The campsites are very private, other than the abundant wildlife (Steller's Jays were everywhere) but there is no electricity, wi-fi or showers available and the nightly rate with a small senior discount was still a hefty $33 a night. Still a very beautiful and quiet place to spend the night.
ARKANSAS VAN TRAVEL TO CROWLEY`S STATE PARK
Rising in some places two hundred feet above the delta region of northeastern Arkansas is a narrow strip of gently rolling hills known as Crowley’s Ridge. Two hundred and ten miles in length and situated between Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Helena, Arkansas, this unique geological feature is one of the most beautiful and fascinating areas within the United States. The ridge was formed when two ancient river systems, the Mississippi and Ohio, cut vast trenches across the plains of eastern Arkansas. Crowley’s Ridge was once a giant sand and gravel island left between these two rivers. Through time, wind blown dust, called loess, built up on the area left behind, in some areas forming a cap of fine, sandy soil sixty feet deep. Crowley’s Ridge State Park occupies the former homestead of influential pioneer Benjamin Crowley and the ridge bears his name. A large monument in Shiloh Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in Greene County, marks his grave. The cemetery is located in the park just east of the CCC Pavilion.
