We had 1 hour time in Vilnius on our bus tour to Eastern-Europe.Vilnius is quite near the border of Belarus.

I had been in Vilnius 2 times before, i.e. the city was familiar to me.
Baltic Pride 2019 Vilnius, Lithuania.
Oftentimes called a Pride Parade, the March for Equality is both a celebration of who we are as well as a protest demanding equality for members of the LGBT* community. This year the March for Equality will take place in Vilnius. Last year, more than 8,000 individuals participated in this event in Riga and we hope to keep growing!
Do not miss the opportunity to celebrate and support local LGBT community by marching down Gediminas Avenue with us! Support the movement working towards a more inclusive society by joining this historic event!
Remember, Baltic Pride only comes to Vilnius once every three years. This will be our fourth time here! It is a great opportunity for busy locals to get involved as well as for those from farther away to explore our beautiful city! This event is free of charge.

hi guys this is one of the biggest supermarkets ive been in and the selection beats our UK stores im not joking simple amazing!
This is the place for middle of the night needs. Maxima is Lithuania's own supermarket chain and though this is one of their smaller stores (compared to the HyperMaxima at Akropolis [shudder]), it's still probably the best supermarket within walking distance of the Old Town. They sell everything you could possibly need and a lot that you would never. We recommend buying the 8lt snow disc in winter - Vilnius has some killer hills. To ensure your kids (should you have them) don't nag you to buy them everything in the store, we recommend depositing them in the 'bouncy room'; at 1 lita an hour, it's a bargain. Open 24 hours, you'll find Maxima near the train station.

Erasing geographical boundaries lead to various discussions: birthplace vs. home -- it's a global debate on local identity. Emigrant vs. immigrant -- where you live is not the same as who you are. Crossing international borders and what your passport/identity document says about you: what data is fixed to your person. Bi-locality: being seen in two different places at the same time - as the bridge between being local and a stranger.
Laimonas Briedis is a native of Vilnius and currently a resident of Vancouver, Canada. A writer by vocation and cultural geographer by education with a doctoral degree from the University of British Columbia. Laimonas has written a critically acclaimed work Vilnius: city of strangers. The widely reviewed book was described by The Economist as a “subtle and evocative” portrait of the city, leaving readers with a sense of being “stalked by horror and steeped in wonder” as they follow the story of Vilnius through darkest chapters of European history.

Vilnius, In the Old Town - Lithuania 4K Travel Channel
Accidentally, we notice an announcement of a new opening right next to our accommodation, the Rentida Apartments. It is Theobromine Chocolatier, a tearoom in the heart of Vilnius. The name derives from the bitter alkaloid of the cocoa plant, the theobromine. Theobromine is structurally related to caffeine and has a stimulating effect like this.
Ursula insists on exploring Theobromine Chocolatier. From the young women in the shop, she learns that the manager is a Belgian. And so you can also enjoy Belgian chocolates in Vilnius.
The delicious creations, such as Strawberry-Basil or Mango-Pepper are made in the basement of the house.
The place makes a fresh, friendly impression and after a short tasting, Ursula wishes them a successful start and all best for the future.
We stroll through the old town of Vilnius, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994.
At the northern end of the Pilies gatve, we come across a group of Spanish musicians, who entertain the passerby.
Again, we come across chocolate.In the AJ Chocolate Restaurant, you can see the chocolate room. The furniture and decor in this room are completely made of chocolate.
Afterwards, we visit the Church of St. Casimir, which was opened in 1615. It was the first church of the Jesuits in Lithuania and is designed after the Il Gesù church in Rome.
We walk south and discover the gate entrance to the church and Monastery of the Holy Trinity. In the courtyard, it still looks very original. Unfortunately, filming is not allowed.
Our next destination is the Gate of the Dawn, which houses the icon of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn. It is a place of pilgrimage for Lithuanian and Polish pilgrims. Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn is one of the most important sanctuaries in Lithuania, Belarus, and Poland.
The Gate of Dawn was built in 1522. In addition, one built a Carmelite monastery in 1626. The icon came to Vilnius in 1652. Pope John Paul II visited Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn in 1993.
The coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania adorns the outside of the gate. The national coats of arms of Lithuania and Belarus derived from this coat of arms.

Zufällig fällt uns eine Ankündigung einer Neueröffnung direkt neben unserer Unterkunft, den Rentida Apartments, auf.
Es ist die Theobromine Chocolatier, eine Teestube im Herzen von Vilnius. Sie ist benannt nach dem bitteren Alkaloid der Kakaopflanze, dem Theobromin. Es ist verwandt mit dem Coffein und hat wie dieses eine anregende Wirkung.
Ursula lässt es sich nicht nehmen, das Geschäft zu erkunden. Von den anwesenden jungen Frauen erfährt sie, dass der Geschäftsführer ein Belgier ist. Und so kommt man auch in Vilnius in den Genuss belgischer Pralinen. Die köstlichen Kreationen, wie z.B. Erdbeer-Basilikum oder Mango-Pfeffer werden im Keller des Hauses hergestellt.
Die Teestube macht einen frischen, freundlichen Eindruck und nach einer kurzen Kostprobe wünscht Ursula den Anwesenden alles Gute für die Zukunft.
Wir schlendern nun nochmals durch die Altstadt von Vilnius, die seit 1994 zum UNESCO Welterbe zählt.
Am nördlichen Ende der Pilies gatve. stoßen wir auf eine spanische wandernde Musikkantentruppe, die ihre Künste zum Besten gibt.
Auch hier treffen wir wieder auf Schokolade. Im AJ Chocolate Restaurant kann man den Schokoladenraum sehen. Hier ist die ganze Einrichtung komplett aus Schokolade.
Danach besuchen wir die St. Kasimir-Kirche, die 1615 eröffnet wurde. Sie war die erste Kirche der Jesuiten in Litauen und ist der Kirche Il Gesu in Rom nachempfunden.
Wir gehen weiter Richtung Süden und entdecken die Toreinfahrt zur Kirche und Kloster der Heiligen Dreifaltigkeit). Im Innenhof sieht es noch sehr ursprünglich aus, leider wird uns das Filmen hier untersagt.
Unser Ziel ist das Tor der Morgenröte, das ein Bildnis einer Schwarzen Madonna aufbewahrt wird. Sie dient als Wallfahrtsort für litauische und polnische Pilger. Sie zählt in Litauen, Weißrussland und Polen zu den bedeutendsten Heiligtümern.
Das Tor wurde 1522 erbaut. Daneben entstand 1626 ein Karmeliterkloster, in das 1652 die Ikone der Schwarzen Madonna kam. 1993 besuchte Papst Johannes Paul II. die Madonna.
Außen ziert das Wappen des Großfürstentums Litauen das Tor. Aus diesem Wappen leiten sich die Staatswappen von Litauen und Belarus ab.

UFO Vilnius Lithuania
Strange cloud like UFO filmed by local militia over the parliament building in Vilnius, Lithuania (date unknown). The next morning the object was still in the area and appears to change shape around a large red light at it's centre.
The night time footage is then displayed enhanced showing the tripod like shape of the object, that seems to behave more like a life form rather than a structured craft. I also slowed down and brightened the video so you can see more detail.
USSR October Revolution Parade & Riots Vilnius 1989
During the annual celebrations of the anniversary of the October Revolution in 1989, what begins as a typical military parade turns into a full blown riot by the locals in Vilnius, the capital of (at the time) the Lithuanian SSR. Anti Soviet sentiment was very strong and the independence movement was in full swing. This video highlights the chaotic and decaying situation inside the Soviet Union at the time. The year 1989 truly was the beginning of the end as Moscow began losing more control over the Union Republics, and the economy began to tank.
