About this video:
Virasat-e-Khalsa (Punjabi: ਵਿਰਾਸਤ-ਏ-ਖਾਲਸਾ) is a museum of Sikhism, located in the holy town, Anandpur Sahib, near Chandigarh, the capital of the state of Punjab. The museum celebrates 500 years of the Sikh history and the 300th anniversary of the birth of Khalsa, based on the scriptures written by the tenth and last human guru, Guru Gobind Singh.
There are two complexes at each side of a ravine, connected by a ceremonial bridge:
The smaller western complex includes an entrance plaza, an auditorium with 400 seating-capacity, two-story research and reference library, and changing exhibition galleries.
The eastern complex contains a round memorial building as well as extensive, permanent exhibition space, consisting of two clusters of galleries that try to evoke the fortress architecture of the region (most evident in a nearby Gurudwara) and form a dramatic silhouette against the surrounding cliff terrain. The gathering of the galleries in groups of five reflects the Five Virtues, a central tenet of Sikhism.
The buildings are constructed of poured-in-place concrete; some beams and columns remain exposed, though a great deal of the structures will be clad in a local honey-colored stone. The rooftops are stainless steel-clad and exhibit a double curvature: they gather and reflect the sky while a series of dams in the ravine create pools that reflect the entire complex at night.[1]
The building was designed by Moshe Safdie and Associates.

Baoli sahib in Sri Anandpur Sahib| Punjab| Rupnagar-Ropar| India
Baoli is a Punjabi word which refers to an open well. One will find steps leading down to the water level. Many such sacred wells were constructed during the times of the Gurus and are still a feature at many historic Gurdwaras.
The most popular baoli Sahib is found at Govindwal at the site built by Guru Amar Das, the third Sikh guru. This has 84 steps denoting the 84 lakh (which is written as 84,00,000 or 8.4 million) species of life forms on Earth. At this Baoli a grand staircase leads from ground level down to the water. This Baoli Sahib was contructed after Sikhs were prevented from fetching water from a local source. The digging started in 1556 and completed in 1559.
Gurudwara Qila Anandgarh Sahib is situated on another spur, about 800 metres south-east of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib. It is a newly constructed building though marks of the old, original structure are also still traceable.
Gurudwara Shri Qila Anandgarh Sahib is situated in the middle of the town of Shri Anandpur Sahib. This is one from five Kilas (forts) built by Guru Gobind Singh for the protection of Sikhs and other residents from the Mughals and the Hill rulers. In Gurdwara Sahib there is also a sacred Baoli sahib. It is situated in the south east side of Gurdwara Sri Takhat Kesgarh Sahib.
This Gurdwara was one of the five forts constructed by Guru Gobind Singh at Anandpur Sahib for the defense of the Sikhs. Guru Gobind Singh spent 25 years at Anandpur Sahib. To protect the Sikhs from the hill Rajas or Mughals, Guru Gobind Singh began the construction of five defensive forts all around the town. Keshgarh at the center (now a Takht), Anandgarh (fort of bliss), Lohgarh (fort of steel), Holgarh (fort of colour) and Fatehgarh (fort of victory). All the forts were joined together with earthworks and underground tunnels. The construction began in 1689 and took over ten years to complete.
The present building complex was raised during the 1970's by Sant Seva Singh (d. 1982) whose successors are now managing and further developing it.Earlier, during the 1930's, Kartar Singh Kalasvalia had got a fort-like building constructed which is still intact on top of the hillock. The present Gurdwara, separated from this building by a spacious terrace paved with slabs of streaked marble, is a 15-metre square hall with an 8x3 metre porch in front.
The 6-metre square sanctum within the hall has above it a lotus dome topped with a gilded pinnacle and khanda as a fmial. The entire wall surface has a facing of streaked marble. This building was completed in 1970. The water level of an old baoli, a stepped well 4-metre in diameter, is approached through a covered passage. The baoli has 132 marbled steps. At the lower levels on the eastern flank of the main building are a spacious hall for Guru ka Langar constructed in 1972, and 300 rooms for pilgrims and administrators.
