Irena's Holocaust Museum in Ariel - Campaign
Donate now:
Holocaust survivors Irena Wodislavsky and her late husband, Kuba (Yaakov), overcame limited means and personal hardship to convert their home into the Ariel Holocaust and Heroism Memorial Museum. Their mission and lifetime goal was to ensure that the voices of those who perished in the Holocaust will forever resonate.
Irena is now determined to upgrade the Museum to benefit generations to come. She is working to move the Museum to a nearby, more accessible location, renovate the property to house the Museum and add technologies that will bring personal testimonies to life.
The Museum is the only facility of its sort in Samaria and one of a kind in Israel, with an educational engagement emphasis on personal stories of victims and survivors. The Museum houses a sculpture gallery, photo gallery, personal belongings gallery, and a letters and postcards gallery. All artifacts are authentic and were purchased and collected by Irena and Kuba.
There are two stages to the fundraising campaign for this project. Phase One is dedicated to funding the design and renovations of the new site. Phase Two focuses on integrating a new interactive technology, equipped with artificial intelligence, which will enable visitors to have conversations with a life-size pre-recorded “Irena”.
Irena and Kuba have received countless awards and recognitions for their lifetime achievement. Now it’s our turn to partner with Irena as their Museum transitions into a timeless legacy.
Los Angeles Museum Of The Holocaust
The Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust (LAMOTH) is a museum in Pan Pacific Park, within the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, California
It is dedicated to the remembrance and preservation of the history, stories, victims, and tragic events of the Holocaust during World War II. Founded in 1961, the museum is purported to be the oldest museum of its kind in the United States.
LAMOTH is always free for visitors and students, because the founding survivors insisted that no one ever be turned away from learning about the Holocaust.
In 1961, a group of survivors at Hollywood High School taking English as a second language classes found one another and shared their experiences. They discovered that each of them had a photograph, concentration camp uniform, or other precious primary source object from the Holocaust era. They decided that these artifacts needed a permanent home where they could be displayed safely and in perpetuity. They also wanted a place to memorialize their dead and help to educate the world so that no one would ever forget. Some of these founding survivors remain active on the LAMOTH Board of Directors today.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s “2019 Los Angeles Dinner: What You Do Matters” on Wednesday, March 6 honored Sylvie and Mark Deutsch, and Linda and Tony Rubin, with its National Leadership Award for their remarkable contributions to preserving the history of the Holocaust. The Museum also honored all Holocaust survivors with a special presentation of the Elie Wiesel Award.
The Elie Wiesel Award is the Museum's highest honor and was presented to all Holocaust survivors for their courage and resilience and for inspiring the global movement for Holocaust remembrance and education, which the Museum leads today. The Elie Wiesel Award, named for the Museum’s founding chairman, recognizes prominent individuals and organizations whose actions have advanced the Museum’s vision of a world where people confront hatred, prevent genocide and promote human dignity.

Legacy of American Eugenics: Buck v. Bell in the Supreme Court
This presentation, The Legacy of American Eugenics: Buck v. Bell in the Supreme Court, was given by Dr. Paul A. Lombardo on Thursday, February 9th, 2012, in Kahn Auditorium in the A. Alfred Taubman Biomedical Research Science Building at The University of Michigan. Dr. Lombardo discussed details of the Buck case, and how it became one of the symbolic high points for the eugenic movement in the United States as the keynote address for the opening reception of the Holocaust Memorial Museum Exhibit Deadly Medicine: Creating the Master Race, hosted by the Taubman Health Sciences Library at the University of Michigan from February 3, 2012 through April 3, 2012.
The Deadly Medicine: Creating the Master Race exhibit includes a segment on Buck v. Bell, the 1927 United States Supreme Court case that endorsed state laws mandating the eugenic sterilization of feebleminded and socially inadequate people in state institutions. That case and the laws that it validated preceded the 1934 Nazi law for sterilizing the 'hereditarily diseased under which more than 400,000 operations occurred in Nazi Germany.
