Shaniwarwada (Śanivāravāḍā) is a historical fortification in the city of Pune in Maharashtra, India. Built in 1732,it was the seat of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire until 1818, when the Peshwas lost control to the British East India Company after the Third Anglo-Maratha War. Following the rise of the Maratha Empire, the palace became the center of Indian politics in the 18th century.

The fort itself was largely destroyed in 1828 by an unexplained fire, but the surviving structures are now maintained as a tourist site.
The Shaniwar Wada was originally the seven-storied capital building of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire. It was supposed to be made entirely of stone but after the completion of the base floor or the first story, the people of Satara (the national capital) complained to the Shahu(King) saying that a stone monument can be sanctioned and built only by the Shahu(King) himself and not the Peshwas. Following this, an official letter was written to the Peshwas stating that the remaining building had to be made of brick and not stone. The Wada was then completed and upon being attacked by the British Artillery 90 years later, all the top six stories collapsed leaving only the stone base, which was immune to the British artillery. Hence only the stone base of the Shaniwar Wada remains and can be seen even today in the older parts of Pune.

Behind the Fort’s paranormal activities there are story of the assassination, greed for power and Shaniwarwada-Fort-Punebetrayal. Madhavrao , Vishwasrao and Narayanrao was three sons of Peshwa Nanashaheb. After the death of Pesha Nanashaheb Narayanrao became Peshwa on that very young age. Due to his age his uncle Raghunathrao was in charge of state on behalf of young nephew.
Sumner Singh sent a group of assassins. Narayanrao woke up and understood he was going to be killed. He ran towards Raghunathrao’ chamber and shouted to him *Uncle save me*. But he was caught by assassins and brutally assassinated by them. The Ghost of the young Peshwa still now resides in there with his painful agony. Every new moon night he cries for saving him.

शनिवार वाडा फोर्ट : इंडिया के टॉप हॉन्टेड प्लेस में है शामिल
शनिवार वाडा फोर्ट, महाराष्ट्र के पुणे में स्थित है। इस किले की नीव शनिवार के दिन रखी गई थी इसलिए इसका नाम शनिवार वाडा पड़ा। इसका निर्माण 18 वि शताब्दी में मराठा साम्राज्य पर शासन करने वाले पेशवाओं ने करवाया था। इस किले में 30 अगस्त 1773 की रात को 18 साल के नारायण राव, जो की मात्र 16 साल की उम्र में मराठा साम्राज्य के पांचवे पेशवा बन थे, की षड्यंत्रपूर्वक ह्त्या कर दी गई थी। जब हत्यारे उसकी ह्त्या करने आये तो उसने ख़तरा भांप कर अपने काका (चाचा) कक्ष की और (Kaka Mall Vachva) (Uncle Save Me) कहते हुए दौड़ लगाई पर बदकिस्मती वहाँ पहुंचने से पहले मारा गया। कहते है की किले में उसी बच्चे नारायण राव की आत्मा आज भी भटकती है और उसके द्वारा बोले गए आखिरी शब्द (काका माला वचाव) आज भी किले में सुनाई देते है।
संरचना की बात करे तो किले में प्रवेश करने के लिए पांच दरवाज़े है।
