The Shanti Stupa Society was established to build the Vishwa Shanti Stupa (World Peace Pagoda) in the Indraprastha Park in the heart of the City of Delhi. The purpose of the Shanti Stupa is to provide a “peace haven” for all and to develop programs that promote peace-building efforts all over the world with an emphasis on ahimsa, or nonviolence.
The Shanti Stupa has become a symbol of universal peace and acceptance over the centuries. Nipponzan Myohoji was founded by Most Venerable Nichidatsu Fujii (1885-1985) with the mission of building Shanti Stupas all over the world as a way of creating peace and transforming people’s mind and heart. This order has built more than eighty Shanti Stupas all across the globe.
The Shanti Stupa Project envisioned by Fujii Guruji in 1978 soon after he received the Jawahar Lal Nehru Award for International Understanding by the Government of India in recognition of his work. The project in Delhi began in 2004 in collaboration with the Delhi Development Authority and the Lt. Governor of Delhi.

Vishwa Shanti Stupa, New Delhi was Inaugurated on November 14, 2007 and Dedicated to the people of India and the World with hopes of cultivating long-lasting peace as envisioned by Fujii Guruji. Following dignitaries and luminaries were present at this occasion:

Vishwa Shanti Stupa in Rajgir
The major attraction in Rajgir is the peace pagoda, Vishwa Shanti Stupa, built in 1969, one of the 80 peace pagodas in the world, to spread the message of peace and non-violence. Rajgir is a city and a notified area in Nalanda district in the Indian state of Bihar. The city of Rajgir was the first capital of the kingdom of Magadha, a state that would eventually evolve into the Mauryan Empire. The city was in a valley surrounded by seven hills: Vaibhara, Ratna, Saila, Sona, Udaya, Chhatha, and Vipula.

Basically Peace Pagoda is a Buddhist stupa; a monument to inspire peace, designed to provide a focus for people of all races and creeds, and to help unite them in their search for world peace. Most of these peace pagodas built since World War II have been built under the guidance of Nichidatsu Fujii (1885–1985), a Buddhist monk from Japan and founder of the Nipponzan-Myōhōji Buddhist Order.
In 1947, he began constructing Peace Pagodas as shrines to world peace.

Peace Pagodas were built as a symbol of peace in Japanese cities including Hiroshima and Nagasaki where the atomic bombs took the lives of over 150,000 people, almost all of whom were civilian, at the end of World War II. By 2000, eighty Peace Pagodas had been built around the world in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
A Vishwa Shanti Stupa or World Peace Pagoda in New Delhi was inaugurated on 20th. November 2007 by monks and nuns of Nipponzan-Myōhōji, the Dalai Lama and the Lt. Governor of Delhi. It is situated in heart of the the Delhi City and going over these takes merely five minutes from Indraprastha Metro Station, North-East of Humayun's Tomb, adjacent to Delhi Ring Road.
A traditional Japanese garden has been constructed in the area around the stupa. The garden is a joint project by the Fujii Guruji Vishwa Shanti Stupa Committee and the Delhi Development Authority

World Peace Pagoda at Vaishali, the symbol of world peace, was constructed by Japanese Buddhists. The famous Fujii Guruji who dedicated his life for world peace wished for world peace pagodas world over, and the peace pagoda at Vaishali was his last wish. Guruji knew the historical importance of Vaishali and for that reason he wanted a Peace Pagoda here .
Vaishali a small village in the state of Bihar, Vaishali is a very famous Buddhist pilgrimage in India. ... Another significance of this place is that it is the birthplace of Lord Mahavira, the founder of Jainism in India. It was at Vaishali that Lord Buddha announced his proximity to Nirvana(liberation) .

The Vishwa Shanti Stupa is an ancient pillar or peace pagoda in Rajgir. Ropeway takes you uphill to the Shanti Stupa and Monasteries - Rajgir, Bihar. This pillar is situated on top of Griddhakuta or Ratnagiri Hill, at an altitude of 400 m above the sea level. This pillar was built by the Japanese as a symbol of world peace. The structure is built completely in marble and comprises four golden statues of Lord Buddha with each representing his life periods of birth, enlightenment, preaching and death. The way to reach this ‘stupa’ includes an aerial ropeway. A temple is also situated near this Stupa called the ‘Nipponzan Myohoji’.
विश्व शांति स्तूप भारत में बनाये गए स्तूपों में से एक है। यह गीताई मंदिर के बाजू में है। यह फूजी गुरूजी का एक सपना था जिसे जिन्हें गांधीजी प्यार से इस नाम से बुलाते थे। ऐसा विश्वास है कि फूजी गुरूजी 1935 में जापान से वर्धा आए थे और भारत में इन स्तूपों को बनाने के उद्देश्य से गाँधीजी से मिले।
स्तूप बौद्ध समुदाय के लिए पूजा की एक जगह के समान है। यह बड़ा और सफ़ेद रंग का है और विभिन्न चारों दिशाओं में भगवान बुद्ध की मूर्तियाँ लगी हुई है।
यह स्तूप गौतम बुद्ध के जीवन इतिहास का वर्णन करता है। समीप ही एक जापानी बुद्ध मंदिर भी है जिसके निकट एक बड़ा उद्यान है।

The peace pagoda is a Buddhist Stupa which is symbol of peace and unity amongst people from all walks of life, irrespective of race, creed and caste. In early 20th century, when mass destruction was taking a toll, peace pagodas were built under guidance of Buddhist monk Nichidatsu Fujii to spread peace. There are 7 peace pagodas in India and one of them is World Peace Pagoda in Delhi.

I Visited this historical place through bike from patna to vaishali with my friend.
we saw the raja vishal garh awashesh & Vishwa Shanti Stupa, & Lake. Ashok Pillar was near from this place but we are unable to visit this place due to too late.
