What to do in Billund, Denmark ???????? - RyanAir Cheap Flight
I grabbed one of Ryanair's cheap flights to Billund in Denmark from Manchester, knowing very little about the area apart from Legoland being there. When I arrived, it was evident there was nothing else to do.
Strap in for this wild travel vlog.
Spoiler alert, there's absolutely nothing to do in Billund, Denmark unless you want to play with lego or go to Legoland. The town is small that I walked through it in minutes.
A lot of people seem to have the same idea as me due to the Ryanair cheap flights. Ryanair make it possible to fly around Europe for such a small amount of money, but is it worth it? Generally, yes, Ryanair fly to some great places, but seriously, if you're going to fly to Billund without planning on going to Legoland, don't waste your money - there is literally nothing else to do there.
I, as many other people do, check RyanAir's Fare Finder service quite often to find cheap flights around Europe and I kept spotting the cheap flights to Billund in Denmark, so I thought I'd go to cehck it out. It turns out there's a reason the flights are so cheap... There's nothing to do! Well, unless you want to go to Legoland or play with Lego at the Lego House.
It's actually a pretty good option if you've got kids, but without kids, there's very little point in going. The theme park is pretty small and although Lego is fun, unless you're obsessed, you'll be bored of the Lego house after an hour or so.
Billund airport is about an hour's walk from Legoland and the centre of Billund, but a bus or a taxi would be extremely cheap. I got the bus from Billund airport to just outside of the Lego House and it took literally 2 minutes, but I decided to walk the next day as I had absolutely nothing to do after grabbing lunch in a Danish bakery. Sometimes solo travel is lonely, and it's even worse when you're in a place with absolutely nothing to do apart from look at the huge lego bricks in the centre, outside of the Lego House.
In the bakery in Billund, they didn't have normal English tea, so I went for the Hugge tea, which was excellent and I'd definitely recommend it.

Grindsted - A Traffical Centre
Between 1914 and 1919 Grindsted turned into a dynamic town with railways in six directions, an impressive station building, three platforms connected by subways, warehouses, a roundhouse, a water tower and a turntable. Covering approx. 140,000 square metres Grindsted had the 3rd biggest station area in Denmark.
The Birth of Grindsted
Due to the railways, Grindsted changed from being a village on the moor to a fast growing town with big industrial companies, asphalt roads, shops selling all kinds of articles, several grocery shops and a petrol pump on practically each street corner. The town grew from a little more than a few hundred people to thousands.
The Railways
The Danish State built the line between Langa and Bramming. The rest were private railways. The station building was finished on 1-Dec 1916. The architect was Prof. H. Wenck, who also designed the Copenhagen Central Station.
Railway Lines
20-May 1914 Vejle-Vandel-Grindsted
01-Dec 1916 Bramming-Grindsted
25-Aug 1917 Troldhede-Grindsted-Kolding-Vejen
01-Dec 1917 Grindsted-Brande
12-Apr 1919 Varde-Grindsted
The Closing Down
Between 1957 and 1972 the railway lines closed down one by one. The state line continued to carry goods until the mid 80s, and up to 2012 goods have been transported to Grindstedværket (a chemical factory). The rails between Grindsted and Bramming were officially closed down in 2014.

The latest review of Legoland Billund 2019
The top three choices to visit would be LEGOLAND Billund because it is the birthplace of LEGO, plus LEGOLAND Windsor and LEGOLAND Florida as they offer the largest amount of attractions being the biggest two amusement parks by far.
Site: Legoland Billund Resort
Location: Billund, Denmark
Opened: 1968
The oldest Legoland and was built near the original Lego factory. It is divided into ten different worlds: Duplo Land, Imagination Zone, LEGOREDO Town, Adventure Land, Miniland, Pirate Land, Lego City, Knights Kingdom, Viking Land, and Polar Land. The park has 1.6 million visitors annually, making it the largest tourist attraction in Denmark outside Copenhagen.
History
The Lego company, led by Ole Kirk Christiansen, introduced plastic toys alongside their existing wooden toy line in 1949 after purchasing one of the first injection molding machines in 1947.[1]:10 One son, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen (GKC), was named the managing director of the family business in 1957 shortly before his father died and just two years later he bought out his three brothers.[1]:20 In the 1960s, GKC decided to open a 14-acre (5.7 ha) Legoland Park adjacent to the Lego factory in Billund to promote his toy business; the factory itself was already drawing approximately 20,000 visitors per year by the mid-1960s, who came to view models produced for trade shows and shops.[1]:49 [2] GKC hired Arnold Boutrop as the park's first general director and designer; after visiting Madurodam, the two men began finalizing plans for what would become Miniland, the main attraction of Legoland.[1]:49 Dagny Holm, a cousin of GKC trained as a sculptor who was hired as a model designer in 1961[2] is credited with much of the original design and building of Miniland.[1]:50 The park became an instant success, with 625,000 visitors in its first abbreviated season after opening on 7 June 1968
Over the years, Legoland Billund has added many original models and rides. The park, which has now been expanded to cover 45 acres (18 ha), is divided into nine themed areas, including Duplo Land, Imagination Zone, LEGOREDO Town, Adventure Land, Lego City, Knight's Kingdom, Mini Land, Pirate Land, and Polar Land.
Miniland in Legoland Billund (1968)
Today, Legoland Billund is the most visited tourist attraction in Jutland and the third-most visited attraction in Denmark, after Tivoli Gardens and Dyrehavsbakken.[3] Several other Legolands have since been built in other parts of the world:
Legoland Windsor Resort (1996)
Legoland California (1999)
Legoland Deutschland Resort (2002)
Legoland Florida (2011)
Legoland Malaysia Resort (2012)
Legoland Dubai Resort (2016)
Legoland Japan Resort (2017)
The Blackstone Group, an investment firm, bought a 70% controlling stake in Legoland in 2005, with the remaining 30% still owned by Lego. The parks are operated by Merlin Entertainments Group.

LEGOLAND BILLUND DENMARK
Legoland Billund, the original Legoland park, opened on 7 June 1968 in Billund, Denmark. The park is located next to the original Lego factory and Billund Airport, Denmark's second-busiest airport. Over 1.9 million guests visited the park in 2011 and since the opening more than 50 million guests have visited the parkON THE TRAIL OF HISTORY There are few places where you can enjoy a sense of history like you can in LEGOLAND Billund Resort. Here in the heart of Denmark, there are clear traces going right back to the runic stones of the Viking age, which boast of great exploits. It is not surprising that the region contains sites and towns which are already on the UNESCO World Heritage list or are on their way to becoming listed. Experience the dark Middle Ages in large castles and join in the play at the museums, where there is plenty of room for children and anyone who likes hands-on exhibits.
