Logoly State Park and Magnolia Arkansas Outdoortrailhikers
Outdoortrailhikers visits Logoly State Park and Magnolia Arkansas.
At Arkansas’s first environmental education state park, Logoly’s natural resources provide a living laboratory for students and visitors. Most of Logoly’s 370 acres comprise a State Natural Area that includes unique plant species and mineral springs. This peaceful park surrounded by old growth forest is an easy day trip from Texarkana, El Dorado, Camden, Magnolia, and Hope. Park facilities include six group tent sites (no hookups), a bathhouse with hot showers, pavilion, picnic sites, playground, and multiple trails. Enjoy hands-on interactive exhibits in the new park visitor center. Park interpreters lead programs and field trips year-round.

After leaving the state park we go to explore Magnolia Arkansas.
The city was founded in 1853. At the time of its incorporation in 1858, the city had a population of about 1,950. The city grew slowly as an agricultural and regional cotton market until the discovery of oil just east of the city in March 1938, with the Barnett #1 drilled by the Kerr-Lynn Company. The Magnolia Oil Field was an important discovery for the city as well as for the nation, as it was the largest producing field (in volume) during the early years of World War II, helping to sustain the American war effort.
In March 2013, more than 5,000 barrels of oil leaked from a Lion Oil Trading & Transportation storage tank in Magnolia, with some flowing into a bayou

MAGNOLIA
The Columbia County seat, about 2.5 hours from Little Rock, is a charming southwest Arkansas town with a quaint courthouse square. The town proudly displays its heritage with colorful murals on buildings around the square. Numerous shops and restaurants ringing the courthouse await visitors. Also highlighting the square are the stately trees which give the town its name. Founded in 1909, Southern Arkansas University, a liberal arts college that calls Magnolia home, offers a varied calendar of events and tours of its 658-acre Agricultural and Horticultural Farm. At 3,000 acres, Lake Columbia is one of the largest Arkansas Game and Fish Commission impoundments in South Arkansas and is popular with both anglers and outdoor enthusiasts. The Magnolia Blossom Festival and World's Championship Steak Cook-off draws thousands of visitors each May.

Confederate Capital of Arkansas - Censored American History and Tour
This is a tour of the historic Washington State Park in Arkansas.
Historic Washington, Arkansas's premier 19th-century village, is conserved and interpreted by Arkansas State Parks in conjunction with the Pioneer Washington Restoration Foundation.
From its establishment in 1824, Washington was an important stop on the rugged Southwest Trail for pioneers traveling to Texas. James Bowie, Sam Houston and Davy Crockett traveled through Washington. James Black, a local blacksmith, is credited with creating the legendary Bowie knife here. Later, the town became a major service center for area planters, merchants and professionals. Washington was the Confederate Capital of Arkansas from 1863-1865.
Established in 1973, the state park interprets Washington from 1800-1900. The 1874 Courthouse serves as the park visitor center. Visitors can also see the 1836 Courthouse, Blacksmith Shop, Weapons Museum, several residences and other historic structures on guided tours. Buildings open for touring vary each day. Lunch featuring delicious, Southern country fare is served daily in the 1832 Williams' Tavern Restaurant.

Healthy Active Arkansas
Arkansas governor launches plan to improve health across the state
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 14, 2015) — Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson launched a statewide plan today to improve the health of all Arkansans. The plan, titled Healthy Active Arkansas, contains nine focus areas all tied to increasing the health of Arkansans through healthy dietary choices and increased physical activity.
The nine focus areas are Physical and Built Environment; Nutritional Standards in Government, Institutions and the Private Sector; Nutritional Standards in Schools—Early Child Care Through College; Physical Education and Activity in Schools—Early Child Care Through College; Healthy Worksites; Access to Healthy Foods; Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Reduction; Breastfeeding; and a Marketing Program.
The plan can be viewed and downloaded by visiting healthyactive.org.
“Healthy Active Arkansas is about the future of our state,” Hutchinson said. “We want to create a state where all Arkansans can lead healthy, happy and fulfilling lives.”
Hutchinson pointed out the many benefits of improving health outcomes in Arkansas, including benefits to businesses through lower health care costs for employers and employees and increased productivity; lowering the burden of chronic disease treatment, such as obesity and diabetes, on the health care industry; and strengthening the state’s economic development potential by establishing Arkansas as a place with a healthier workforce.
“It’s all connected,” Hutchinson said. “We have more than $1 billion annually just in obesity-related expenses. The more we do to improve healthy lifestyles in our state, the more we reduce costs and the more we improve our workforce and quality of life.”
Arkansas Surgeon General Dr. Greg Bledsoe joined Hutchinson in announcing the launch of Healthy Active Arkansas, and he made a call to action for the entire state to embrace the tenets of the plan.
“For us to achieve the goals set forth in Healthy Active Arkansas, it will require all of us, across all sectors, to work together,” Bledsoe said. “This plan contains recommendations not just for the health care industry, but for businesses, governments, civic organizations and individuals. There’s power in people working together, and that’s what we’re challenging all of Arkansas to do.”
The announcement of the plan comes just weeks after a new study was released by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that identified Arkansas as having the highest rate of obese adults in the United States.
“Obesity and related health problems like high blood pressure and diabetes are problems that are plaguing our country,” Bledsoe said. “Arkansas can and will step up to the challenge of reducing our obesity rate and improving the health of our people. Healthy Active Arkansas is the road map that we’ll follow to take on that challenge.”
Bledsoe is leading a consortium that will oversee the plan’s implementation. The consortium includes leaders from the Arkansas Department of Health, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement, the Arkansas Minority Health Commission, Baptist Health and the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute.
One of the consortium’s first tasks is to hire an individual to coordinate the plan’s implementation.
“We hope to begin the search process for that individual soon,” Bledsoe said. “In the meantime, we are laying the groundwork for building relationships with communities, health care providers, nonprofits and others to join with us in this endeavor.”
One such relationship is with the Arkansas Hospital Association, which announced today its endorsement of Healthy Active Arkansas. Troy Wells, CEO of Baptist Health and a member of the Arkansas Hospital Association board, made the announcement.
“Hospitals across the state, both large and small, have an opportunity to be leaders in utilizing Healthy Active Arkansas,” Wells said. “This is an exciting step forward for our state.”
Talimena National Scenic Byway - AR-88 / OK-1 - Arkansas / Oklahoma | Drive America's Highways ????
???? Join us as we drive 53 miles along the scenic Talimena National Scenic Byway -- including all the vistas -- in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
In partnership with Stichn Travel, we start the video turning north onto Arkansas Highway 88 from U.S. Highway 71 in Mena, Arkansas. Continuing generally northwest, we enter the Ouachita National Forest as the road ascends to the top of the ridgeline and approaches Queen Wilhelmina State Park -- just past Rich Mountain.
Continuing west, we soon cross over the Oklahoma border where the route becomes Oklahoma Highway 1. All along this road, we are stopping at the scenic vistas (listen for the driver commentary) which offer stunning views of the surrounding area and the gorgeous views of the Ouachita Mountains.
After a long relatively straight stretch of westward travel, we soon come to one of the curvier sections of the route and the only major junction along the trail -- with U.S. Highway 259. If you are traveling with someone who is scared of heights or you otherwise need a quick way off for gas or whatever, this is the ONLY place along the way to do so. There is a campground a few miles later (it's in the video) with outhouses, but do you really want your wife to use that?
Moving right along, we resume a northwesterly drive across the ridge line before making our final descent to U.S. Highway 271 where the video ends. There are visitors centers on both sides of the trail, although the one on the Arkansas side holds weird hours.
We would like to thank our friends at Stichn Travel (stitchntravel.com) for shooting this video for us. While we do have a video of this route in our archives, it is very old and is a timelapse recorded from a cell phone -- this is much better. When you are done watching our videos here at Interstate 411, check them out -- they have a great site and promise more great content in the coming weeks.

Fun Free Things To Do In Little Rock Arkansas
Fun Things To Do In Little Rock Arkansas
I know when you think of cool places to visit Little Rock may not be the first place that comes to mind but honestly if you live anywhere in the area or are an outdoor enthusiast it should be.
Little Rock, Arkansas sits on the banks of the Arkansas River located in the center of the state. And with a population of nearly 200,000 people, it's the largest city in Arkansas and definitely the place to find a good time at a great value.
Go actually find the “Little rock” little rock is named after. This can be found in La Petite Roche Plaza in Riverfront Park on the Arkansas River. Such a great place for kids to explore with a park that incorporates its surroundings into the playground and sights that will put a smile on everyone's face. (Free)
The arts flourish in Little Rock, Arkansas with the gallery at the Arkansas Arts Center, offering free admission and housing one of the most-acclaimed collections of works on paper in the country. (Free)
The Big Dam Bridge spans the Arkansas River and Murray Lock and Dam between Little Rock and North Little Rock and is open only to pedestrian and bicycle traffic, which is awesome if you love getting away from traffic like we do.. At 4,226 feet in length it is the longest pedestrian/bicycle bridge in North America that has never been used by trains or motor vehicles. (Free)
MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History. Located in the historic Tower Building of the Little Rock Arsenal--the birthplace of General Douglas MacArthur--the museum preserves the contributions of Arkansas men and women who served in the armed forces. Exhibits feature artifacts, photographs, weapons, documents, uniforms and other military items that vividly portray Arkansas's military history at home and abroad. (Free)
Museum of Discovery, not free, Adults $10, children $8. The museum has many fun, hands-on exhibits with a focus on STEM learning. They have the one of the world's largest bi-polar Tesla coils, a tornado ally experience and hands-on looks at geology, anatomy, and math. It's a great museum for kids and adults. We had one extremely rainy day in Little Rock so we were very grateful for the museum of discovery at that time.
Pinnacle Mountain is also supposed to be an pretty neat experience but on our personal trip we opted for the Big Dam Bridge instead due to wanting to drive less and children’s nap times.
Thank you so much for watching. Make sure to subscribe. I hope you enjoyed our adventure. Now go out there and make your own!

Clinton House Museum tells of famous couple's history
If you're looking to learn about the history of Arkansas, the Clinton House Museum in Fayetteville is a good place to start.
The museum was built inside a house in Fayetteville, which served as the first home for future and first lady President Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The museum houses educational archives and memorabilia, magazines, newspapers, campaign ads, buttons and yard signs -- all chronicling the Clintons' political journey.
A replica of Hillary Clinton's wedding dress is also on display. The couple was married in the living room of the home in 1975.
Behind the home you'll find the First Ladies Garden, where the favorite flower of each first lady is planted.
Group tours and field trips are available for anyone wanting to learn about the Clinton legacy.

All around the country you have good towns and bad towns. Some of those bad towns are the type you want to have extra life insurance just to visit. Yes, we are talking about violent towns. Towns with so much violent crime it should be avoided at all cost. All states have them and most states would like to get rid of them maybe adjust the border and give it to the next state over. Thanks for stopping by The world according to Briggs, I make lists. Not just lists of random stuff, I make them about states, cities, towns and other places in the United States. I post 3 times a week and sometimes live stream. Enjoy.
If you enjoy these videos I would love to hear about it. These videos are made to help people who are thinking about relocating, looking for real estate, or just wanting to learn about the United States. I most of the time focus on the negative side of locations. If you want some happy positive information about a city, town or state, I would suggest looking up local mortgage and real estate companies or maybe the locations website. They are trying to sell you something so it will be nothing but sunshine and rainbows. They won't tell you about crime, poverty, bail bondsmen, or insurance you'll need because of natural disasters. I will. And I will try and make it entertaining.

See Top Secret Bunker Where 7,000 Americans Will Go in Event of Nuclear Bomb
A new book is highlighting some of the top-secret locations in America that could serve as a de facto White House in the event of a nuclear strike. A bunker built into a hollowed out mountain in Colorado is just one of the covert shelters where 7,000 Americans will go to in the event of nuclear annihilation, according to Garrett Graff, the author of 'Raven Rock: The U.S. Government's Secret Plan to Save Itself While the Rest of Us Die.'
Finding Purpose and a Path of Service - A Rich Tapestry
We all like to think we have common sense. But what we know gets challenged when we interact with people of different cultures and walks of life. Here is a story of how one young woman is being guided along paths of service in diverse settings through collaborations between individuals, communities, and institutions.
This video is part of A Rich Tapestry, a video storytelling collection that expresses and illustrates how love is being translated into action to address questions of race and culture in the United States. This collection of video stories provides authentic examples of how individuals, communities and institutions are weaving together a rich tapestry of community life in neighborhoods across America. The strands of this tapestry include efforts to expand and consolidate vibrant patterns of Baha’i community life, to contribute to public discourse on topics of race and diversity, and to take direct social action in collaboration with like-minded groups and individuals.
New videos will be added to this collection regularly, exploring the different facets and threads that weave a rich tapestry of community life. We invite you to view these videos at home and in community gatherings. Share them with friends and neighbors as a way to spark conversations and envision the possibilities for building communities that bridge all racial and cultural differences.
And most importantly, share with us your thoughts, experiences, and ideas for other stories that could be included in this series.
And watch another story featuring Abigail from the Rich Tapestry series -
If There Are No Volcanoes, What Makes The Water Hot?
If There Are No Volcanoes, What Makes The Water Hot? It is not a volcano that heats up the spring water in Hot Spring, Arkansas, a national park. The process is quite different.
There are porous rocks northeast of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Rain Water then gets absorbed through this rocks and trickles down the earth. For every 300 feet down, the water heats up 4 degrees. It then comes back again as hot springs. With this process and since it is not being heated up by volcano, there is no sulfur smell.
This video also explains why Hot Springs is called the valley of the vapors. Due to the vapors coming from the hot springs, people have nicknamed the place valley of the vapors.
This is the smallest of all national parks.
