Podgorica Montenegro ???????? Saborni Hram Hristovog Vaskrsenja - Vladimir Vysotsky Monument
Podgorica
__________
is the capital and largest city of Montenegro.
Between 1946 and 1992 – in the period that Montenegro formed, as the Socialist Republic of Montenegro, part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) – the city was known as Titograd in honour of Josip Broz Tito.
Podgorica's favourable position at the confluence of the Ribnica and Morača rivers and at the meeting-point of the fertile Zeta Plain and Bjelopavlići Valley has encouraged settlement. The city is close to winter skiing centres in the north and to seaside resorts on the Adriatic Sea.
Podgorica Municipality covers 10.4% of Montenegro's territory and is home to 29.9% of the country's population. It is the nation's administrative centre and its economic, cultural, and educational focus.

Montenegrins. Vladimir Vysotsky
Serb orthodox celebrate Christmas in Podgorica
(7 Jan 2020) Serbian Orthodox Christians celebrated Christmas on Tuesday in Podgorica amid tensions in Montenegro over a religious law that the Serbian church says will strip it of property.
They claim the law would include the removal of medieval churches, monasteries and other assets.
Montenegrin state authorities have denied plans to do this.
Led by Serbian church priests, thousands of people have attended daily protest marches against the law in Montenegro since it was approved in parliament last month.
The law says religious communities with property need to produce evidence of ownership from before 1918, when Montenegro joined a Serb-led Balkan kingdom and lost its independence.

The Italian governorate of Montenegro existed from October 1941 to September 1943 as an occupied territory under military government of Fascist Italy during World War II.Although the Italians had intended to establish a quasi-independent Montenegrin kingdom, these plans were permanently shelved after a popular uprising in July 1941.Following the Italian surrender in September 1943, the territory of Montenegro was occupied by German forces which withdrew in December 1944.
