Andros | Vlychada Beach. Vlychada beach is located on the north western side of Andros, about 40 km from Chora and 10 km from Gavrio. Vlychada is considered among the most beautiful beaches of the island. With soft sand on the shore and crystal blue water, Vlychada stands out for its natural beauty and the abrupt landscape. Due to its remote location and the track road that leads there, Vlychada is visited by very few tourists who are seeking for calmness and privacy. The closest tourist facilities are found in Fellos and Gavrio.

Vlychada Beach is located on the northwestern coast of Andros, about 10 km from the village Gavrio. Vlychada is one of the most beautiful beaches of the island. It is a sandy beach with amazingly clear water and is known for its natural beauty and stunning surroundings. It is a remote beach, with access only by a dirt road. Vlychada is not very touristy, with no organization of umbrellas and chairs on the beach. It is a great spot for relaxation and privacy.
Near Vlychada, is Pyrgos beach, another quiet, relaxing beach. Pyrgos means tower -- and the beach's name is from the Venetian tower of Makrotantalos that lies in ruins on a rock above the beach.

Andros | Halkolimionas Beach
Andros | Halkolimionas Beach. A secluded beach on the south western side of the island, Halkolimionas is located close to the village of Paleopolis, about 20
km from Chora and about 16 km from Batsi town.
The beach of Halkolimionas is found a couple of km from Zagora.
The road is not track but it is pretty narrow. The coast is a bit
rocky, which makes the beach more proper for snorkelling than
swimming. There are no tourist facilities in the region, except for
few rooms to rent scattered around.

A Greek island that adorns the Cyclades
In the Cyclades, there is a Greek island that certainly stands out. It stands out mainly because of nature, and the morphology which does not seems like the Cyclades. Above all, you not often you see an island that combines dry Cycladic landscape and abundant water. Lush vegetation and rare wildlife. Museums, events, and neoclassical architecture. Countless beaches and imposing mountains. As a result, these geographical and morphological contrasts make it unique. This island is Andros.
Andros connects to the port of Rafina, 36 nautical miles and just 2 hours by a conventional ship. It is one of the largest Greek islands. An area of 380 square kilometres and a coastline of 176 km. The northernmost island of the Cyclades is, therefore, the second largest island of Cyclades.

In the winter months, it floods by a large number of rivers and streams. The waters end up in numerous waterfalls and springs. Consequently, that preserves the rich vegetation with abundant trees, so many species of birds and small animals can find shelter and food. What you experience exudes a distinct aura that does not refer you to a classic Greek island in the Cyclades.

The Achla River flows from Petalo, one of the highest peaks in the Cyclades. It expands to the homonym beach and has water even in the summer. Arnipotamos expands to the bay of Lefka and the Great River from Stavropeda expands to Paraporti beach. In Andros, you will see several waterfalls. The waterfall in Pithara accessed by hiking, and in Paleopoli the waters are falling from above.
The most significant spring is Zenio. The most extensive volume of Zenio waters flows to all sides of the island. Krya Vrissi on the northern side of Petalo, the fountain of Koumoulou in Menites village, are some of the scattered throughout the island. The source of Sariza in Apoikia, with the homonymous table water, is considered curative.
Dense vegetation and rare wildlife on a Greek island
In Andros, there are trees such as plane trees, willows, poplars, oaks, pine trees, maples. Among them emerge lentisk, oleander, fig, mulberry, olive trees, reeds, merolies, laurels, brushwood. Spring wildflowers make up an incredible carpet of anemones, orchids, and bells. The perfumes of the gardens and orchards confused with thyme, oregano and create a unique atmosphere.
In Andros, many bird species find shelter and food. Owls, nightingales, partridges, woodcocks, tortoises, carders. Rare predators such as Mavropetritis, a dark hawk that is one of the most endangered species in Europe. Mavropetritis reproduces in the Cyclades in Andros and Skyros. The paths are maintained with the concern of a significant collective effort of people, with a particular love for nature and sometimes with the help of volunteers from all over the world.

Andros | Achla Beach
Andros | Achla Beach. A secluded heaven offering complete tranquility, Achla beach is located on the northeast coast of Andros in Achla, 25 km from Chora and 28 km from Batsi town. Getting there however is a challenge, limited by jeep or motorbike for the dirt road, but you can easily access it by ferry boat. The beach is a cove which shields visitors from the usual summer winds and makes these waters ideal for snorkeling and fishing. It's shores are covered in fine, white pebbles set against lush turquoise waters and a cascade of trees that offer natural shade. A small river ends nearby, creating an impressive biotope with the trees. Although not an organized beach for tourists, there are a few choices for accommodation in the area. On the rocks above Achla, there is a small chapel of Agios Nikolaos as well as a lighthouse landmark.
