Eric Clark Travel Video - Rome Italy - DO NOT BUY SIM FROM VODAFONE! IT STOPPED WORKING AFTER 1 DAY
I did this video thinking the quality of this product would be a good buy. IT WAS NOT!!!! I used the sim card for 1 day (less than 12 hours) and for some reason it put a .07 euro charge on the phone and stopped working. I went back to the place I bought it and he said sorry, go talk to Vodafone. That he JUST SELLS THEM, HE DOESNT SERVICE THEM!!! I asked for my money back and he would not give it to me. We went round and round and it got fairly ugly. I went to Vodafone store and they said since I didn't buy it there that I had to go back to where I bought it.... Its an ugly circle with no support, no help, no anything. I called the Vodafone number. Each time I started talking in English I was hung up on. 6 times I was hung up on. I had a person at the store I go to regularly call and talk to them. As soon as they found out he was helping an AMERICAN they hung up... TWICE!!!!
THE BOTTOM LINE IS DO NOT BUY A SIM CARD FROM VODAFONE IN ITALY!!!! AVOID THIS!!! I LOST 30 EUROS!!!!
I have used Tim and it worked great, with no hassles, no limits and NO ISSUES!!!!
DO NOT BUY VODAFONE!!!!

WiFi and Connectivity in Italy
I'm Valerie Schneider, the Italy Correspondent for International Living. I wanted to take a few minutes to talk about connectivity, because this is a question I get asked frequently, both at the IL conferences and by email. People want to know what kind of cell phone plans they can expect and what kind of internet we have here in Italy. I discuss all those questions here.

How to Use Your Phone While Traveling in Europe
You need data when you are traveling - to load maps, to keep in touch with friends and family back home, to check train schedules and more. Chris explains how easy it is to buy a prepaid SIM card in Europe and he shows you how to install the prepaid SIM card into your iPhone. Make sure your iPhone is unlocked before you leave to travel and you can easily swap out and use a new SIM card.
We’ve found that using iMessage and FaceTime with our iCloud account is the easiest way to text with other iPhone users.
For our non-iPhone friends and family, we tell them to install the WhatsApp app and we can send texts, make phone calls and video calls all using data only. Be sure to set this up before you travel using your US phone number. Then you can continue using that US phone number with WhatsApp.
Another thing to note - if you do make phone calls or texts to friends back in the US, you might need to add the +1 country code to their phone number in your Contacts. By default, none of our contacts had the +1 added and we couldn’t figure out why our calls weren’t going through at first!

Italy Travel Tips - How to Make a Phone Call from Rome
Learn how you stay connected with friends and family back home during your Rome visit.
Staying connected is important wherever you may go. Here are a few really good tips to consider for your next visit to Rome. There are three ways to make a call here in Rome. The first way, old-fashioned way, as we know, putting the coins in the machine. Second way would be to buy a calling card like this, which you tear off the corner and you insert it in the machine as follows. This reveals you how much credit you have on your calling card.
And then, yet another way is to buy a card like this for 5 euros from one of these kiosks. First, you scratch off the back of this calling card which reveals your PIN number. Then, you dial the 1-800 number on the back. Wait for the prompting, and select your language. From there you enter your PIN number. Now, do not forget, when calling the United States, the country code number is 001. Then you dial your area code, and the number that you are wishing to call. Hi Terri, it is me.
Another option is to purchase a prepaid cell phone SIM card from the stores like this. Basically what you would do is take your United States cell phone and insert the SIM card, that will cost somewhere between 10 and 25 euros, into the phone and you will, too, have an Italian cell phone number. But do not forget, if you want your friends and family to call you from the United States, the country code for Italy is 39.
There are several internet cafes located here, in Rome. You pay a very low hourly rate for high speed internet service. Most internet cafes in Rome are open 7 days a week. Now you know how to stay connected while in Rome. I am Niema, showing you Rome.

It’s a confusing station, much like any one in a capital city. Still, I hope this explanation helps to understand the whole setup. The most important thing to remember is that the metro is downstairs and that there are adequate signs to guide you around. Just observe your surroundings.
I am still a beginner at this whole being a youtuber thing! But I learn as I go along and I hope to get at least 1% better with each video! Your comments and suggestions are welcome.
UPDATE! Dec 9th 2019: The Vodafone store isn't there anymore. It's not an Iqos, an electronic cigarette store.
