Albuquerque, New Mexico - Breaking Bad, Old Town, Nuclear Energy and Sandia Peak
Product: Country Bound Microfiber Towel
Today we explore Albuquerque, New Mexico. Being a Breaking Bad fan I started my day by visiting some of the show's locations, including Twister's also known as Los Pollos Hermanos, Walter Whites house, the Car Wash, and Hank's home. Then I went to Old Town, had lunch at the oldest house Church Street Cafe. Then I visited the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History, and finally took a ride on the Sandia Peak Tramway.
We tow a 2015 Winnebago Micro Minnie 1706FB travel trailer. You are more than welcome to tag along in our travels by subscribing to this channel.

Valley of Fires Recreation Area
Valley of Fires Recreation Area is located immediately adjacent to the Malpais Lava Flow. Approximately 5,000 years ago, Little Black Peak erupted and flowed 44 miles into the Tularosa Basin, filling the basin with molten rock. The resulting lava flow is four to six miles wide, 160 feet thick, and covers 125 square miles. The lava flow is considered to be one of the youngest lava flows in the continental United States.
From a distance, Valley of Fires appears as barren rock but when you walk through the nature trail there are many varieties of flowers, cactus, trees, and bushes typical of the Chihuahuan desert. Animals include bats, roadrunners, quail, cottontails, mule deer, barberry sheep, and lizards. It's also a virtual birdwatcher's paradise with great horned owls, burrowing owls, turkey vultures, hawks, gnat catchers, cactus wrens, sparrows, and golden eagles.

TENT ROCKS - Ancient Wonder of New Mexico
One of my most favorite places on Earth:
I lose myself every time I visit Tent Rocks. Walking through the slot canyon stirs me to life and instills ancient wisdom and magic. The stone has stood millions of years and I feel it's sacred antiquity when I pass between it's walls.
This national monument is located on the Pajarito Plateau in north-central New Mexico, and is roughly 5,570 feet to 6,760 feet above sea level. The cone-shaped or tent rock formations are the result of volcanic eruptions that occurred 6 to 7 million years ago and left pumice, ash and tuff deposits over 1,000 feet thick. Atop many of the tapering stone columns are boulder caps that protect the softer pumice and tuff below. Some columns have lost their caps and are slowly disintegrating, returning to Mother Earth.

Petroglyph National Monument (Rinconada Canyon)
Petroglyph National Monument.
Thousands of centuries-old petroglyphs silently greet visitors to the three trail areas of Petroglyph National Monument in western Albuquerque. Native peoples made most of the 20,000 images etched on volcanic basalt boulders throughout the monument area. Other petroglyphs may have been the work of Spanish colonists. Unfortunately, more modern artists' work is also reflected on the dark stone faces of the rocks.
The photos within this site were captured along the sandy 2.5-mile trail that follows the base of Petroglyph National Monument's Rinconada Canyon. The canyon's many petroglyphs vary from geometric designs to apparent animal and figurative images. Although historic and artistic theories abound, researchers continue to ponder the full meanings of the primitive rock art.
Petroglyph National Monument, which also offers trails at its Boca Negra and Piedras Marcadas Canyons, is administered by the U.S. National Park Service and managed in part by the city of Albuquerque. The facility is open daily. For more information, visit the NPS website at or telephone 505-899-0205.
