Russian train station blast: Moment of deadly suicide attack in Volgograd caught on CCTV
Up to 15 people are reported to have died after a blast ripped through a train station in the southern Russian city of Volgograd.
The blast, captured on CCTV, shows a huge
orange fireball filling the hall and smoke billowing out through shattered windows.
Russia's state Investigative Committee said a female suicide bomber blew herself up in the entrance hall of the station, just in front of a metal detector.
Two police officers who were checking the passengers are said to be among those who have died.
The death toll is said to be rising. Latest figures suggest 15 people have died and as many as 50 people were injured as a result of the blast.
This is the second deadly attack in southern Russia in three days.
On December 27, a car bomb in Pyatigorsk killed three people; while on October 21 2013, a female suicide bomber also struck in Volgograd, killing seven people.
Sunday's attack will bolster fears of attacks by Islamist militants as Russia prepares to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Volgograd lies close to Russia's North Caucasus, a strip of mostly Muslim provinces plagued by near-daily violence.
In a video posted online in July, Islamist insurgent leader and Chechen warlord, Doku Umarov, urged militants to use maximum force to prevent Russian President Vladimir Putin from staging the Olympics.

A suicide bomb attack at a train station in Southern Russia has killed 17 people, including the bomber. The city, Volgograd, is a busy hub north of the violence-plagued North Caucasus region. After the explosion, the local government announced 3 days of mourning from January the 1st. Russian authorities are stepping up security following another suicide bombing in the south of the country.
At least 14 people were killed and dozens more injured, in an attack on a bus in the city of Volgograd.
17 people died after the bombing of a train station in the same city on Sunday.
Authorities say they're linking the two incidents - which took place just weeks before Russia is due to host the Winter Olympics.

The blast that ripped apart a bus in the southern Russian city of Volgograd on Monday morning was probably carried out by suicide bombers from the same organisation behind Sunday's railway station explosion.
Russian television has released CCTV footage of Sunday's suicide bomb explosion inside the train station. It was detonated when a police officer became suspicious and rushed forward.
The bombs that killed more than 30 people have put the city on edge. They highlight the terrorist threat Russia is facing as it prepares to host February's Winter Olympics, 700 kilometers away in Sochi.

No one has come forward to claim responsibility yet. However, Russia's anti-terrorism committee says a female suicide bomber is to blame for what they're calling a terrorist attack.

Russia: Victims of Volgograd bombing treated at hospital
Around forty people injured in a suicide bomb attack at Volgograd train station were taken to Volgograd clinical hospital to be treated on Sunday.
The blast, which took place earlier in the afternoon has so far left at least 16 people dead. According to the National-Anti-terrorism Committee, Oksana Aslanova a female suicide bomber from Dagestan, carried out the attack.
Three days of mourning for the victims have been declared by authorities in the Volgograd region.
The blast reportedly detonated near metal detectors inside the station, with Russia's National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) stating they are now treating the incident as an act of terror.
On October 6, a suicide blast left 6 dead and dozens injured when a female suicide bomber blew herself up on a bus travelling through Volgograd.

Authorities say the woman detonated her explosives in front of a metal detector just inside the main entrance to the station. A Health Ministry spokesman says 50 people were wounded. Suicide bomber targets train station in Russia
A female suicide bomber has attacked a train station in the southern Russian city of Volgograd, killing at least 14 people,and injuring 34 others.
The government has sent a plane to pick up the injured in Volgograd, located 900 kilometers from the capital, Moscow.
It comes just six weeks before the Winter Olympics are due to start in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.

Security has been tightened up following Sunday's suicide bomb attack on a Russian train station as the country prepares to host the Winter Olympics.
Investigators have confirmed that 16 people died in the blast in the entrance hall at Volgograd station.
CCTV footage captured the moment of the explosion .....the hall had been packed with people getting away for New Year celebrations.
But it could have been worse if it had not been for 29-year-old police officer Dmitry Makovkin who is said to have died preventing the suicide bomber from entering the main part of the station.
However there is confusion over just who was the attacker - initial reports said it was a woman from Dagestan which is now the centre of a long running Islamist insurgency. But later the authorities said it could have been a man.

In Volgograd, the first funerals for victims of Sunday's train station attack have taken place, as emotional residents lay flowers at a memorial at the railway station.
Twenty-nine-year-old Sergei Nalibayko and 27-year-old Leonid Sushchev were buried on December 31.
Many locals are still shocked about the attacks.
A local woman said: It's hard to talk. I can't. We were born here, grew up here, and there's never been anything like this.
