Global electrification 2015 - Antuan Graftio
The album is dedicated to the outstanding Russian engineer and my cousin Genrikh Osipovich Graftio.
Genrikh Osipovich Graftio was a Russian engineer considered to be a pioneer of the hydroelectric station construction in the Soviet Union, as one of the founders of the GOELRO plan, and famous for the construction of the first hydroelectric stations in the Soviet Union, the Volkhov Hydroelectric Station in Volkhov and the Lower Svir Hydroelectric Station in Svirstroy. Genrikh Graftio graduated from the Imperial Novorossiysk University in Odessa in 1892 and the Petersburg Institute of Transport Engineering in 1896, where he had been teaching since 1907. In 1921, he was appointed a professor at this university. Between 1896 and 1900, he was an intern in Europe and USA, studying the power equipment.
In 1900, Graftio created the first project of the electrified railway in Russia, which was never realized. In 1906, he was charged with developing an electric tram network in Saint Petersburg (at that time the capital of the Russian Empire), which was opened in 1907. Since 1905, he was involved in the project design of hydroelectric stations. In 1905, he designed a project of a power plant on the Vuoksi River (never realized), and in 1910-1911 Graftio designed the power plant on the Volkhov River, which was realized only in 1927.
Between 1918 and 1920 Graftio was the first deputy of the chief construction engineer of the Volkhov Hydroelectric Station, the first hydroelectric station to be built according to the plan. In February 1920, Graftio was included into the committee charged to draft the GOELRO plan, the program to provide sufficient electric power required for future industrialization of Russia and, eventually, the Soviet Union. In the committee, he was responsible for the sections dealing with transportation and with the electrification of the Caucasus areas. The plan was drafted in December 1920. Since early 1921, he had been a chief construction engineer until the construction finishing in 1927. On March 21, 1921, he was arrested on the charges of counterrevolutionary activity, but was released after several months due to intervention of Gleb Krzhizhanovsky, who needed Graftio to continue working on the construction. After 1927, he was the chief engineer of the construction of the Svir Hydroelectric Station, opened in 1933.
In 1932, Graftio was elected a member of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
Between 1938 and 1945, Graftio was the Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Energy, responsible for the power plant construction. In particular, he was responsible for the program of the restoration of the stations destroyed during World War II. He died in 1949 in Leningrad.

RUSSIA'S NEWEST SUBMARINE: Borei-class boomer.
The 2nd one in floating drydock looks like a fast attack to me.
RUSSIA has unveiled a first glimpse of its monster submarine - dubbed “Vladimir the Great” - as it goes on sea trials in the Arctic. The the Borei-style nuclear ballistic missile submarine is capable of launching 20 intercontinental nuclear missiles, decimating cities almost 6,000 miles away.
NEW BALAVA-EQUIPPED SUBMARINES
The Russian Navy is looking to make Bulava-equipped vessels as the main element of their nuclear submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) deterrent in the coming decades. The submarine can dive to 400 metres and is claimed to be almost undetectable to foes.

USSR HISTORIC NEWSREEL INDUSTRIALIZATION OF THE SOVIET UNION 1925-1930 48774
This authentic Soviet newsreel recounts some of the economic programs that defined the early history of the Soviet Union, and the industrialization of the nation that helped transform the USSR into a 20th Century superpower. The film is full of impressive imagery of Soviet power plants, mines, railroads, steel plants and heavy industry, road building, electrification, and the construction of huge factories and industrial plants.
Narrator: 1925 was the 8th year of the Soviet rule and the 4th year of the New Economic Policy. The New Economic Policy (NEP) met Lenin’s expectations. The production of consumer goods was improving, and industry was reaching the prewar level. (00.41)
But what level was that? The country remained agrarian. Most peasants had never seen tractors. Socialism had not yet proved to be the best option. (00.58) Lots of things had to be imported: Machines, pipes, cotton, rubber, vehicles. Russia paid for that in gold, bread, and timber. (00.16)
Only one power could overcome a century-long gap in development, the power of new factories, industrialization. Preparation for it had begun a long time ago. The GOELRO plan was developed, Shatura was built, old enterprises were reconstructed. (01.44) That’s when the first Soviet tractor was created. The first car was made. There was no foreign economic support, it was all done with the country’s own forces. Therefore, it was so important to choose the right path. (02.14) The word ‘industrialization’ was first mentioned during the 14th Congress of the Communist Party. It determined the course of the economic policy of the Soviet government for many years. (02.30)
Industrialization required energy to breathe life into plants and factories. The first hydroelectric plants started operating: the Volkhov and Zemo Avchala power stations. (02.48)
Industrialization required metal for heavy industries. The country was providing machinery for iron and steel works. New blast furnaces were constructed. (03.04) Industrialization required new sources of raw materials. Dozens of prospector groups left for Khibiny, to the Magnitnaya Mountain on the Urals, to Central Asia. (03.20)
Industrialization also liberated an unprecedented wave of enthusiasm from the workers. ‘Let us build the Dneprostroi Dam!’ – this loud call travelled across the country in 1927. Fierce, onrushing calls of ‘Let us build’ were booming in every corner of the country, urging the construction of a new life. (04.03) Good news came to the mountain villages as well. The Soviet Government began building a great railroad, TurkSib. Cries of ‘Let us build TurkSib!’ ‘Let us build the Stalingrad Tractor Factory!’ spread in the country in 1928. (04.28) Industrialization was accelerating. We were giving it our savings as selflessly as we were giving it our labor. (04.37)
“Socialism is no longer a matter of the distant future. Difficult as this task may be, new as it may be, we shall all—not in a day, but in a few years—all of us together fulfil it, so that NEP Russia will become socialist Russia.” (Lenin).

Ocean Radiation now 7.5 Million times normal April5 2011
The operator of the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant says 7.5 million times the legal limit of radioactive iodine 131 has been detected from samples of seawater near the plant. Tokyo Electric Power Company, or TEPCO, found on Saturday that contaminated water was leaking from a cracked concrete pit near the No. 2 reactor. Experts say this makes it clear that highly radioactive substances from the reactor are flowing into the sea, and that the leak must be stopped as soon as possible.

Mental Omega 2.0 - A08 Devoted on Hard difficulty
Playthrough of Mental Omega 2.0psi Allied Mission #08 - Devoted on Hard Difficulty.
Applied patch by Damfoos, which solves some issues with missions:
Featuring how to micro 3 Mirage Tanks and 5 Enforcers vs Centurion.
Remember my essay about the crates? It also works here. Starting truck can give you significant boost - from firepower, through specific units (i got magnetron once) to gamebreaking power ups like Stealth and even MCV - After getting both of them i just restarted the mission, since it become way too easy.
Get your SEALS and head towards the drop zone - pay attention to sentry guns, enemy troops, tesla coil and landed Siege Chopper - you do not want to anger that one. Once in the drop zone, take the transport and proceed to the bridge - from that point go straight through the water to the bottom left area, unpacking your tanks to deal with enemy Rihnos. Once you reach bottom left, a group of Enforcers and Spy will be paradropped. Use Enforcers to take out stray defenses, infiltrate the power plant, get your forces on top of the cliff and remove all of defenses. Squad of Engineers will be paradropped so you can capture the airfield. Thats OB1 Completed.
Next part of the mission is destruction of Psychic Amplifier. Keep the bridge between parts of the map destroyed. Deploy your MCV and make sure to elliminate Siege Chopper. You can also try to move your Miner over river with transport like i did but mning enough fo money to build your abse may take some time - do it if you cant create an AA team.
From that point mission is simple. Tech up to Tier 3, get a bunch of Baracudas and bomb the Amplifier while spying the power plant. Boom, mission accomplished.

STORYLINE:
Russia's Defence Ministry confirmed an atomic explosion at 9:54 a.m. (0054 GMT) in northeastern North Korea on Monday, estimating the blast's yield at 10 to 20 kilotons, comparable to the bombs that flattened Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
North Korea claimed it carried out a powerful underground nuclear test on Monday - much larger than one conducted in 2006 - a major provocation in the escalating international standoff over its rogue nuclear and missile programs.
The regime successfully conducted one more underground nuclear test on May 25 as part of measures to bolster its nuclear deterrent for self-defense, the country's official Korean Central News Agency said.
Radiation levels in Russia's Primorye region, which shares a short border with North Korea, were normal on Monday several hours after the blast, the state meteorological office said.
Four monitoring stations in the Maritime Province in the Russian Far East have been put on a state of emergency and every four hours they measure the level of gamma radiation in the area.
According to Olga Skalyga, head of the regional laboratory for radiation monitoring, the situation remained stable in the region and no increase in the level of exposure to the gamma radiation has been registered.
Skalyga was monitoring the data in Vladivostok, a city of 500-thousand people about 85 miles (140 kilometres) from the Russian-North Korean border.
Monday's atomic test was conducted about 50 miles (80 kilometres) northwest of the northern city of Kilju, said a Russian Defence Ministry, speaking on state-run Rossiya television.
Kilju, in the northeastern province of North Hamgyong, is where North Korea conducted its first nuclear test in October 2006 in a surprise move that also angered China and drew wide-ranging sanctions from the UN Security Council.
North Korea boasted that Monday's test was conducted on a new higher level in terms of its explosive power and technology of its control than in 2006.
Pyongyang is believed to have enough weaponized plutonium for at least a half-dozen atomic bombs.
However, experts say scientists have not yet mastered the miniaturisation needed to mount a nuclear device onto a long-range missile.
Ten to 20 kilotons would be far more than North Korea managed in 2006.
US intelligence officials said the 2006 test measured less than a kiloton; one kiloton is equal to the force produced by one thousand tons of TNT.
However, Russia estimated the force of the 2006 blast at 5 to 15 kilotons, far higher than other estimates at the time.

????Species description:
The White Bream is a fish of the cyprinid family. It inhabits rivers and lakes of Europe, the basins of the Northern Sea, the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. Its Russian name “gustera” is derived from the word “gusto”, meaning “dense”, as in autumn and in spring white bream gathers in huge shoals. It prefers deep quiet water bodies with a lot of greenery and a silted or clay bottom.
Its diet is a mixed one: plants, molluscs, worms, insect larvae.
The white bream is closely related and similar to other bream. It is distinguished by two rows of pharyngeal teeth, slightly bigger scales, fewer branched rays in dorsal and anal fins. The body is strongly flattened, its colour is silvery, unpaired fins are grey, pectoral and pelvic fins are reddish.
Normal maximum size of a white bream living in temperate latitudes is up to 30 cm and its weight is up to 400 g. Large specimens weight about 1.2 kg.
