Völklingen Ironworks - Industrial Heritage | Discover Germany
Iron, steel and techno. The former ironworks is a World Cultural Heritage Site that also puts on festivals. The plant shut down in 1986, but now it's open to visitors and hosts art exhibitions and events like the Electro Magnetic festival.

Völklingen Ironworks (UNESCO/NHK)
The ironworks, which cover some 6 ha, dominate the city of Völklingen. Although they have recently gone out of production, they are the only intact example, in the whole of western Europe and North America, of an integrated ironworks that was built and equipped in the 19th and 20th centuries and has remained intact.

Völklingen Ironworks - UNESCO World Heritage Site
The UNESCO World Heritage site of the former ironworks at Volklingen was the largest steel and iron-making facility of its type in the world. Bringing together all stages of the manufacturing process, combined with several innovative technological solutions meant that the ironworks had an incredible output. Unfortunately, it closed in 1986 due to economic conditions, and the local government decided it was too expensive to demolish, so it was just left to rot in place. There's some great nature trails through areas of the facility where trees, grass and other plants are taking over, and it has a wonderful post-apocalyptic feel. I loved this site, very interesting and exciting!

A World Heritage Site, Völklingen Ironworks, Germany
Hallo magical fellow beings ,
My love and i went to Völklingen Ironworks and it was nothing i have ever seen.
Seeing a place that once was so lively and running and making so much history and opening doors to the future. To today in present the factory is very much worn down and rustic but beautiful and filled with so much silence and the nature is slowly taking back what it was once before.
The old factory also had many art exhibitions and its self is a museum of the history of the past.
Also sorry for the shaking text near the end of the video. I will try to figure out the issue next time. ????
Thank you for watching !

Völklingen Ironworks, Germany. UNESCO World Heritage Site
Visiting the Völklingen Ironworks site in Volklingen, Germany. Quite an amazing site to see in person, the place is absolutely massive in size. They let you walk around a good bit, the top area is my favorite looking down over the whole complex.

Tour of a Preserved Steel Factory - Völklingen Ironworks - Europe Road Trip #10
In this episode, we explore a preserved steel factory, the Völklingen Ironworks. While no longer an active factory, they did an amazing job at preserving the complex. In some areas, it feels like a pristine abandoned factory.

We now travel south and as far west as you can go, right on the French border to the state of Saarland. And while pretty small in actual size, it has some pretty neat stuff to see and do. Our destination this week is Saarland’s Völklingen Ironworks.

Völklinger Hütte (Völklinger Ironworks) | Cinematic
The Völklingen Ironworks in western Germany close to the border with France cover 6 ha and are a unique monument to pig-iron production in Western Europe. No other historic blast-furnace complex has survived that demonstrates the entire process of pig-iron production in the same way, with the same degree of authenticity and completeness, and is underlined by such a series of technological milestones in innovative engineering. The Völklingen monument illustrates the industrial history of the 19th century in general and also the transnational Saar-Lorraine-Luxembourg industrial region in the heart of Europe in particular. The Ironworks are a synonym for and a symbol of human achievement during the First and Second Industrial Revolutions in the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries.
