Volksgarten (Vienna)

Il Volksgarten (inglese: Popolo Garden) è un parco pubblico nella Innere Stadt primo distretto di Vienna , Austria. Il giardino, che fa parte del palazzo Hofburg , fu realizzato da Ludwig Remy nel 1821. Il parco è stato costruito sopra le fortificazioni cittadine che sono state distrutte da Napoleone nel 1809. L'Volksgarten è stato aperto al pubblico nel 1823.
L'area Volksgarten è stato originariamente utilizzato per fortificazioni. Tra il 1596-1597, un muro fortezza fu costruita sul lato orientale del parco. Nel 1639, le fortificazioni aggiuntive sono state costruite sul lato sud. Nel 1809, queste fortificazioni sono state distrutte dalle truppe francesi di Napoleone.

La statua dell'imperatrice, che è stata scolpita da un blocco di 8000 kg di marmo di Lasa, misura 2,5 m di altezza. La dedica del monumento è avvenuta il 4 giugno 1907 alla presenza dell'imperatore Francesco Giuseppe I d'Austria .

All'estremità meridionale del parco sorge il Franz Grillparzer Monumento da Carl Kundmann , completata nel 1875. La figura seduta di scrittore austriaco Franz Grillparzer è mostrato in contemplazione possesso di un libro nella mano sinistra.
Il Volksgarten contiene due fontane. Il Triton e Ninfa Fontana è stato costruito nel 1880 da Viktor Tilgner. La Fontana Volksgarten fu eretto nel 1866 da Anton Dominik Fernkorn.

The Volksgarten (folks' park) is a public park in the Innere Stadt, the First District of Vienna and part of the Hofburg.

It was built over the city fortifications destroyed by Napoleon. It was opened to the public in 1820.

The park is famous for its rose gardens, the Theseus temple (1819-1823) by Pietro Nobile and the monument for Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary (Sissi) (1907) by Friedrich Ohmann (de). There are also statues of the poets Franz Grillparzer and Karl von Hasenauer.

Volksgarten Wien People`s Garden Vienna

1809 wurde ein Teil der Festungsanlage rund um Wien von den Truppen Napoleons gesprengt. Auf diesem Areal wurde ab 1823 der Volksgarten angelegt. War ursprünglich der Park ausschließlich für die Erzherzöge der Habsburger gedacht, wurde diese Idee fallen gelassen und der Park der Öffentlichkeit, dem „Volk“ zugänglich gemacht, daher „Volksgarten“. 1862 kam es zur ersten Erweiterung des Volksgarten parallel zur neuen geschaffenen Ringstraße. Diese Erweiterung wurde in Art eines französischen Barockgarten ausgeführt. Heute ist dieser Teil des Volksgarten ein farbenfrohes, leuchtendes Rosarium. Rund 3000 Rosenstöcke repräsentieren ca. 200 verschiedene Rosensorten. Die große Schale des Volksgartenbrunnen besteht aus einigem Stück Marmor. Am südlichen Ende des Rosariums befindet sich das Grillparzer-Denkmal. Grillparzer kann als österreichischer Nationaldichter bezeichnet werden. Zentral im Park steht der Theseutempel. Der Theseustempelist eine verkleinerte Nachbildung des Athener Thesenion. Das Häuschen hinter dem Theseustempel ist ein unter Denkmalschutz stehende Bedürfnisanstalt von 1884. Zu dieser Zeit wurden analog Berlins öffentliche Toilettenlagen installiert. Am Tempel vorbei kommen wir in den Bereich der zweiten Erweiterung des Volksgarten von 1884; angelegt im Stile eines englischen Gartens. Am nördlichen Ende dieses Teilstückes steht das Kaiserin Elisabeth-Denkmal von 1907 im Jugendstil. Im ältesten Teil des Volksgarten sind die Wege gerade, sternförmig und übersichtlich angelegt. Damit sollte gewährleistet sein, die Besucher des Parks in der Zeit des Vormärz besser kontrollieren zu können. 1820 - 1822 errichte Herr Corti an der Stelle einer Limonadenhütte ein Sommerkaffeehaus mit halbkreisförmiger Wandelhalle. Diese halbrunde Wandelhalle besteht noch heute im bekannten Volksgartencafe, das in den 1958 im Stile der 50ziger Jahre umgestaltet wurde.

The Theseus temple is a scaled down replica of the Athens Thesenion. The cottage behind the Temple of Theseus is a toilet of 1884. At temple past we come into the region of the second extension of the „Volksgarten“ („people`s Garden“) from 1884; created in the style of an English garden. At the northern end of this part of the park, the Empress Elisabeth Memorial of 1907 is in Art Nouveau style. In the oldest part of the „Volksgarten“ („People`s Garden“) paths are created in a star shape and clearly. 1820 - 1822 Mr. Corti build on the site of a lemonade lodge a summer cafe with a semicircular foyer. This semicircular foyer is today known in the „Volksgartencafe“, which was redesigned in 1958.
