Landing - Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport (FLL) - Fort Lauderdale Florida
Fort Lauderdale is a city in the U.S. state of Florida, on the Atlantic coast 23 miles (37 km) north of Miami. It is the county seat of Broward County. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 165,521.[4] It is a principal city of the South Florida metropolitan area, which was home to 5,564,635 people at the 2010 census.
The city is a popular tourist destination, with an average year-round temperature of 75.5 °F (24.2 °C), and 3,000 hours of sunshine per year. Greater Fort Lauderdale which takes in all of Broward County hosted 12 million visitors in 2012, including 2.8 million international visitors. The city and county in 2012 collected $43.9 million from the 5% bed tax it charges, after hotels in the area recorded an occupancy rate for the year of 72.7 percent and an average daily rate of $114.48. The district has 561 hotels and motels comprising nearly 35,000 rooms. Forty six cruise ships sailed from Port Everglades in 2012. Greater Fort Lauderdale has over 4,000 restaurants, 63 golf courses, 12 shopping malls, 16 museums, 132 nightclubs, 278 parkland campsites, and 100 marinas housing 45,000 resident yachts.[5]
Fort Lauderdale is named after a series of forts built by the United States during the Second Seminole War. The forts took their name from Major William Lauderdale (~1782-1838), younger brother of Lieutenant Colonel James Lauderdale. William Lauderdale was the commander of the detachment of soldiers who built the first fort.[6] However, development of the city did not begin until 50 years after the forts were abandoned at the end of the conflict. Three forts named Fort Lauderdale were constructed; the first was at the fork of the New River, the second at Tarpon Bend on the New River between the Colee Hammock and Rio Vista neighborhoods, and the third near the site of the Bahia Mar Marina.

Places to see in ( Fort Lauderdale - USA )
Places to see in ( Fort Lauderdale - USA )
Fort Lauderdale is a city on Florida's southeastern coast, known for its beaches and boating canals. The Strip is a promenade running along oceanside highway A1A. It's lined with upscale outdoor restaurants, bars, boutiques and luxury hotels. Other attractions include the International Swimming Hall of Fame, with pools and a museum of memorabilia, and Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, featuring trails and a lagoon.
The city is most famous for its beaches and boats, and while the city of Fort Lauderdale is relatively small in area, the term 'Fort Lauderdale' is often used to refer to the larger metropolis that has grown up around it. It is the county seat for Broward county, and is part of the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metropolitan area, which has over 5.5 million people.
The first inhabitants of the land were Seminole Indians who arrived in the 18th century. During the Second Seminole War, Major William Lauderdale led his Tennessee Volunteers into the area and raised New River Fort on the site of the modern city in 1838. In 1893, a young Ohioan named Frank Stranahan arrived and built a house that served as the first trading post, post office, bank and town hall of the area. The house was built near the site of the New River Fort and still stands today as a museum, Stranahan House.
The east side of Fort Lauderdale, between down town and the beach, is criss crossed with canals. It doesn't matter if you are in a car, on bicycles, or on foot, you have to cross the canals where the bridges are. This is one town where a good map can save you a lot of backtracking. Surprisingly the best road map of the East side of town is the 'Dolphus Waterway Map.
After years of building a reputation as the destination for beer-swilling college students on raucous spring breaks, Fort Lauderdale now angles for a slightly more mature and sophisticated crowd. Think martinis rather than tequila shots; jazz concerts instead of wet T-shirt contests. But don't worry, there's still plenty of carrying-on within the confines of area bars and nightclubs.

Can I Donate Blood if I Have Traveled Overseas - American Red Cross #BloodMyths
In September of 2019, I took a quick, 24-hour trip to Boston to shoot a special video for the American Red Cross. I teamed up with them to find out if I can donate blood to the American Red Cross even with my recent travels to India, a country that has a high instance of malaria. Come along with me as I travel to Boston to bust this myth!

I started my travel day at (surprise, surprise) Miami International Airport. I was excited to see how the day would go and was looking forward to working with the American Red Cross.
The American Red Cross the most well-known emergency blood service in America. They provide life-saving services to a wide variety of people, including accident victims, cancer patients, people who suffer from sickle cell, and many others. With so many people in need of blood, only 10% of eligible donors donate blood annually, which isn’t nearly enough to meet the demand. I want to help change that!
But I might hit a snag. I could run into issues donating blood because I’ve traveled extensively over the past three years, including three trips to India. As I mentioned earlier, India is considered high-risk for contracting malaria. Traveling there could cause me to be put under a required wait period before I can donate.
After a 3-hour flight, I arrived in Boston! It was a little cold and rainy, but I still love Boston. It’s one of my favorite cities in the U.S. and is a fantastic food town and is full of history!
I caught an Uber to the American Red Cross Center. It’s just south of the North End area, which has been inhabited since 1630! There are also lots of high rises there.
When you arrive at an American Red Cross Center, you’ll be asked some personal health questions and questions regarding any traveling you’ve done in the last 3 years. If you’ve been on anti-malaria drugs, you could be deferred. You’re ineligible if you’ve lived in or spent a significant amount of time in any country where mad cow disease has been found. You should wait 120 days after symptoms disappear if you’ve ever had the Zika virus, and anyone who has ever had ebola cannot donate.
Even if you’re ineligible to donate, you can still volunteer, donate money, or organize a blood drive through the American Red Cross.
I met the team leader, Marie, who walked me through the process. They had to scan the places I’ve traveled to. The amount of blood you give in 10 minutes can save 3 lives, so I really wanted to pass!
Because I spent over 12 hours in various cities around India and have been there within the last 12 months, I got deferred. A lot of the places I visited are an automatic 12-month deferral. I’d be able to donate a year and a day after I got back to the United States.
Even though I got deferred because of my travels to India, there are still plenty of places you can visit and still give blood, including Antarctica, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, Turkey, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and many more.
Look up the nearest American Red Cross location to you and take the steps to donate some blood. And even if you can’t, there are other ways to help the cause!
I hope you enjoyed this video of my trip to Boston to donate blood. If you did, please give it a thumbs up, leave a comment, and subscribe so you don’t miss any of my upcoming travel/food adventures!

Good News Care Center - Miami Free Clinic for Those Most in Need
Miami is one of the largest and fastest growing metropolitan areas in the United States. It’s home to more than half a million people without health insurance and that number grows each year. The city is fed by a network of agricultural communities which are home to thousands of migrant farm workers. Often, undocumented workers have little money, no health insurance and nowhere to turn for medical care. But one free clinic in Homestead, Florida, opens their arms to those men and women to provide the care so desperately needed.
The nonprofits founder, Michael Daily, met with us to explain the clinic’s history and the services they provide.
Primary care physician access is the cornerstone of what Good News provides and for more than 16 years, Dr. Leonard Goldberg has done so here. Preventative care education is one of the most essential services the clinic provides and certified diabetes educator, nurse Matilde Lewis, has provided it here for 15 years. The network of specialists that donate care through Good News is an incredible resource to patients. Like Dr. Eufemiano Cardoso, a hand surgeon who has been with Good News Care Center for nineteen years.
The clinic’s backing by Baptist Health South Florida allows for access to the nation’s leading laboratory, pharmacy and imaging services. In addition to receiving primary and specialty physician services, patients may get their blood drawn on site which is processed at Baptist Health’s laboratory, and receive their medication on site which are donated by the Baptist Health pharmacy. Good News also develops the next generation of providers, like nurse Augusta Momodu, who trained here.
Mary Imolele is a patient here who was found to have breast cancer shortly after coming to the United States. She attributes the fact that she is now cancer-free to the great care she received at Good News Care Center.
Oscar Centeno Correa had only been in the country for two months and doesn’t speak English. He faced a life-or-death medical emergency and shared with us how Good News kept him alive.
Those are just two amazing stories from the countless patients each year who attribute their lives being saved and health restored by Good News Care Center. This community has a growing need for high quality care, health education and medication and you can help answer that call by supporting Good News Care Center.

State of Homelessness in Florida
The state of homelessness in Florida is bad to say it frankly. Florida and California record over one hundred attacks on homeless people a year. The homeless are attracted to the warm weather and beautiful beaches but there simply isn't enough public sympathy to treat them well. Organizations like Our Fathers House Soup Kitchen in Pompano Beach help feed the poor and homeless with a hot lunch five days a week. We also give out clothes, shoes, toiletries, and take home bags containing sandwiches and bread to the poorest people in the area. This service is possible due to generous donors and volunteers.

BEST TIPS for SAVING ON RENTAL CARS - 2020 - How to Rent a Vehicle for cheaper Auto rates
SUBSCRIBE HERE!!
#Auto #RentalCar Appreciate the Advice? You can tip the video producer at How do I rent a car, truck, or SUV? How do I get the best available rate on a car rental? Where do I find the best deals on an auto rental? #car #carrental #carrentalservice #carhire #rentacar #carrentals #rentalcar #luxurycars #hourlycab #pickanddrop
From the Author of How to Beat the Dealers Finance Office, Car Scam of the Decade, and 13 Car Buying Mistakes, these are the top ten best tips on renting a car. What's the cheapest way to rent a car? Do you know the true cost of a car rental? Find out why you shouldn't rent a car at the Airport! Business Travel? Going on vacation? Hitting the road soon? HITTING the road this summer? Better get booking early.
As the busy summer car-rental season begins, prices are expected to climb. “In early June through the end of August, these rates will spike,” said Neil Abrams, president of Abrams Consulting Group, which tracks the car rental industry. Last July, for example, the average rate for a weekly airport rental of a compact car booked seven days ahead was $369.62, or 56 percent more than the $236.73 charged in March, according to the Abrams Travel Data Index.
Let go of name brands. Look beyond Avis, Hertz and other big national chains to independent agencies like Payless and Fox Rent a Car. Because of lower operating costs, their cars, which can be found at Web sites like CarRentals.com and CarRentalExpress.com, typically cost 15 to 30 percent less than rentals from mainstream agencies. Another company with an unfamiliar name, at least to most Americans, is the German agency Sixt, which has begun opening branches in the southeastern United States, including in Atlanta, Miami and Orlando, Fla. To boost brand recognition, the company, whose fleet includes BMWs, Mercedes-Benzes and Volkswagens, is offering deep discounts. For example, a Mercedes C-class cost $38.81 a day in late May at Sixt’s Orlando airport location, according to a recent search. By comparison, the lowest rate offered by Hertz for the same dates was $50.57 a day for a Kia Rio or similar economy car.
Negotiate. Even after you’ve booked the best possible rate, it can be worth swinging by the rental counter to see if you can finagle your way into a better car. “You don’t ask, you don’t get,” said Mr. Abrams, the rental car consultant. Success with this strategy can depend on everything from the type and number of cars on the lot to the mood of the clerk, he added. But some companies are happy to put you in a bigger, or less popular, vehicle for the cost of a compact — if it’s in their interest.
“I frequently need minivans for the volunteer activities I do with teens,” said Marty Paz, the car-rental rate hacker, who has noticed by perusing the parking lot that there is often a glut of minivans at one location he frequently rents from on the weekend. “Often times I’ve reserved an economy car for a Friday and just offered graciously: ‘If there’s a van, I’ll take that. I don’t mind,’ and for the price of the economy car I get the minivan.” (A larger vehicle, of course, will require more fuel.)
Prepay. Taking a page from hotels, rental car companies are offering discounts of up to 20 percent to travelers willing to prepay. In a recent search for weekly rentals at Boston Logan International Airport in mid June, for example, Hertz was offering economy cars for $173 a week at the “pay now” rate. The “pay later” rate was about $30 more. The trade off for locking in a low-rate? Cancellation penalties ranging from $10 with Budget to $50 if canceling within 24 hours with Hertz. And don’t forget about Priceline.com and Hotwire.com, which offer deep discounts to travelers willing to be locked into a preset price before finding out the rental car company.

A GIANT alligator, thought to be one of the largest on record, has been caught on camera by stunned onlookers at a Florida beach.
The beast was filmed emerging out of the wetlands, leaving eyewitnesses lost for words.
Footage shows the 15ft long reptile dwarfing a normal sized gator as they sit on the banks of the water.
Marcy Clarius was out for a weekly walk when she spotted the monster gator climbing out of wetlands in Boynton Beach, Florida, USA, on March 23.
