New Houses for Sale in Bishop Auckland at Bishops Park | Linden Homes
Bishops Park is our stunning new collection of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses for sale in Bishop Auckland. Located just 10 miles south of Durham and 11 miles north of Darlington, our homes are ideal for first time buyers or growing families, looking for more space.
Bishop Auckland: An attractive, well-connected market town.
Located close to open countryside, our brand new collection of houses for sale in Bishop Auckland are perfectly positioned for reaching Darlington and Durham, as well as having a great choice of everyday amenities and facilities, including shops, places to eat and drink and Ofsted rated schools. To add to this, the A1(M) can be accessed quickly, allowing for journeys both north and south.
Bishop Auckland has an interesting history, mainly connected to the Bishops of Durham. It was around 1000AD that the area was first referenced to, after land was given to the Earl of Northumberland for defending the church against the Scots. The history of Bishop Auckland is still evident at Auckland Castle, where royalty including Queen Victoria, Charles I and James I have all visited.
Today, this market town offers everyone the best of both worlds, with surrounding countryside and the convenience of everyday amenities and good transport connections. Shops and services include supermarkets, high street brands, a post office, independent names and banks. There are a number of places to eat and drink. And there are Ofsted rated schools to choose from. With all this, it’s easy to see why Bishop Auckland is a popular place that people want to call home.
What’s close to Bishop Auckland?
One of the advantages to living at Bishops Park is that you can easily reach a number of other locations easily. Just over 10 miles away is the popular city of Durham. Famous for its cathedral, castle and University, this is a great place to visit. The Prince Bishops Shopping Centre is home to a good range of high street name brands, and is located close to the River Wear. This area also has a large choice of restaurants and pubs, so eating out is easy. Anyone searching for more history beyond the castle and cathedral can visit the Museum of Archaeology and the Durham Museum & Heritage Centre. Entertainment can be found at the Gala Theatre & Cinema and the Durham Student Theatre. And if you want to escape the city bustle for a while, Wharton Park is ideal for walks or for letting children run and play.
Around 15 miles from our property for sale in Bishop Auckland is the large market town of Darlington. This is a great location for shoppers, as there is a wide choice of high street and independent names to enjoy browsing at the Commill and Queen Street shopping centres. There are plenty of restaurants, pubs, cafes and bars to choose from, whether you want to socialise or enjoy a family meal. There are two cinemas - Odeon and Vue - while the Darlington Hippodrome is where you can enjoy live performances all year round. History can be found across the town. There is a statue or John Pease, who was a supporter of the earliest public railway system in world, and there is a memorial stone dedicated to William Stead, a respected journalist who died aboard the Titanic.
If you want to enjoy some time by the coast, then Hartlepool is just over 22 miles from the development. The National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool, HMS Trincomalee (Britain’s oldest historic fighting ship) and the Wingfield Castle Paddle Steamer (Britain’s only museum paddle steamer) are all hugely popular with visitors keen to know more about their individual histories. Hartlepool also has a good range of well-known brands, a large supermarket and a choice of places to eat, so whether you’re here for the history or just to be near the coast, you’ll find something you want to see and do.

Hartlepool
Hartlepool (/ˈhɑrtlɪpuːl/ or /ˈhɑrtlpuːl/) is a town on the North Sea coast of North East England, 7.5 miles (12 km) north of Middlesbrough and 17 miles (27 km) south of Sunderland. Historically a part of County Durham and later Cleveland, the town is now a unitary authority: the Borough of Hartlepool, which includes outlying suburban villages including Seaton Carew, Greatham and Elwick. Ceremonially the town remains a part of County Durham, but has strong cultural and economic links to the Teesside or Tees Valley area, with which it shares a number of provisions including the TS postcode, Cleveland Fire Brigade, and Cleveland Police.

George Bush, Skull and Bones, the CIA and Illicit Drug Operations
Skull and Bones is an undergraduate senior or secret society at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut. It is the oldest senior class landed society at Yale. More Emile de Antonio:
The society's alumni organization, which owns the society's real property and oversees the organization, is the Russell Trust Association, named for William Huntington Russell, who co-founded Skull and Bones with classmate Alphonso Taft. The Russell Trust was founded by Russell and Daniel Coit Gilman, member of Skull and Bones and later president of the University of California, first president of Johns Hopkins University, and the founding president of the Carnegie Institution.
The society is known informally as Bones, and members are known as Bonesmen.
Among prominent alumni are former President and Supreme Court Justice William Howard Taft (son of a founder of the society); former Presidents George H. W. Bush and his son, George W. Bush; Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart; James Jesus Angleton, mother of the Central Intelligence Agency; Henry Stimson, U.S. Secretary of War (1940-1945); and United States Secretary of Defense, Robert A. Lovett, who directed the Korean War.
Senator John Kerry; Stephen A. Schwarzman, founder of Blackstone; Austan Goolsbee, Chairman of President Obama's Council of Economic Advisers; Harold Stanley, co-founder of Morgan Stanley; and Frederick W. Smith, founder of Fedex, are all reported to be members.
Skull & Bones is a regular feature in many conspiracy theories, which claim that the society plays a role in a global conspiracy for world domination. It is true that some prominent families had one or more members as Bonesmen. The theorists such as Alexandra Robbins suggest that Skull & Bones is a branch of the Illuminati, or that Skull & Bones itself controls the Central Intelligence Agency. Others who have written about Skull & Bones were economist Antony C. Sutton, who wrote a book on the group titled America's Secret Establishment: An Introduction to the Order of Skull & Bones. and Kris Millegan, who wrote a book on the society in 2003.
Skull and Bones has been satirized from time to time in the Doonesbury comic strips by Garry Trudeau, Yale graduate and member of Scroll and Key; especially in 1980 and December 1988, with reference to George H. W. Bush, and again at the time that the society went co-ed.
In The Simpsons, the character Montgomery Burns attended Yale and was a member of Skull and Bones.

A Writer at Work / The Legend of Annie Christmas / When the Mountain Fell
Amanda Randolph (September 2, 1896 -- August 24, 1967) was an American actress and singer. She was a native of Louisville, Kentucky, and was the older sister of actress Lillian Randolph. She was the first African-American performer to star in a regularly scheduled network television show, appearing in DuMont's The Laytons. This short-lived program was on the air two months in 1948.
Her film career began in 1936 with Black Network. She went on to do several Oscar Micheaux films, among them: Swing, Lying Lips and The Notorious Elinor Lee. Broadway roles in The Male Animal and Harlem Cavalcade soon followed. Around the same time, Randolph broke into radio, helped by people she met at The Clam House, who got her a CBS audition. She began working on various radio shows: Young Dr. Malone, Romance of Helen Trent and Big Sister. Amanda went on to become a regular cast member on Abie's Irish Rose, Kitty Foyle, and Miss Hattie with Ethel Barrymore, where she had the role of Venus. Amanda also appeared on Rudy Vallée's radio show and on Grand Central Station.
She continued working in films to the 1960s, and was one of the first black women to become a comedy favorite on television. She briefly starred in her own daytime musical TV program for DuMont, Amanda, during the 1948 - 1949 season, making her the first African-American woman with her own show on daytime television.[55][56] Randolph did not settle in California until 1949, when she earned a role in Sidney Poitier's No Way Out. Even though she was working in New York and her younger sister, Lillian, had been working in Hollywood for some time, newspapers often got the two sisters mixed up, doing a story on Amanda but with a photo of Lillian and vice-versa. She then became a regular on the top early black TV show of the decade, Amos 'n' Andy, as Sapphire's mother, Ramona Smith, from 1951 to 1953; she also played the same role for the show's radio version from 1951 to 1954.[57] Amanda was now working with her sister, Lillian, who played Madame Queen on the radio and television shows.[15] She was the star and titular character in Beulah from 1953 to 1954, assuming the role from Lillian. Randolph also did some work for radio in 1956, playing the role of the folk heroine Annie Christmas in The Legend of Annie Christmas. She also had a recurring role as Louise the maid on CBS's The Danny Thomas Show and appeared in the show's 1967 reunion. (The show was aired shortly after her death.) She guest starred on the NBC anthology series, The Barbara Stanwyck Show. In 1955, Amanda opened a restaurant in Los Angeles called Mama's Place, where she did the cooking.
Despite all her film and television work, Amanda found herself slightly short of the requirements for a much-needed Screen Actors Guild pension at age 70; both sisters struggled for roles in the late 1930s. A role was written for her to gain eligibility.
