Russian cutting-edge missile corvette Ingushetia has successfully wrapped up state trials!
The Project 21631 cutting-edge missile corvette Ingushetia has successfully wrapped up state trials and is preparing for entering service with Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, the Fleet’s press office reported on Monday.
It was reported earlier that the missile corvette Ingushetia was set to join the Russian Navy in December this year.
The crew of the Black Sea Fleet’s latest missile corvette Ingushetia has successfully completed the state trials. During the state tests in the Black Sea, the sailors conducted fire from the artillery system against sea, air and coastal targets and test-launched a mock-up of a Kalibr cruise missile from the missile system’s silo. The results of the tests did not reveal any problems in the operation of the ship’s armament, the press office said in a statement.
During the tests, the shipbuilders and the ship’s crew checked the reliability of the vessel’s propulsion unit, the steering system, auxiliary mechanisms, communications and navigation equipment and other shipborne systems and armament. The sailors together with the shipbuilders also assessed the ship’s seagoing performance, its controllability and stability, propulsion qualities and inertial properties.
All the ship’s systems, mechanisms and armament confirmed the characteristics stated by the shipbuilders. The ceremonies to hoist the St. Andrew’s [Russian naval] flag and incorporate the small missile ship Ingushetia into the Black Sea Fleet are planned for late December this year, the statement reads.
In 2019, the Black Sea Fleet has already received five new ships and boats. The delivery of 16 more combat ships and support vessels is planned for 2020, which will increase the share of modern ships and vessels to 70%, the press office stated.
The upgrade of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet started in 2014, the year when Crimea and Sevastopol reintegrated into Russia. Over this period, the Black Sea Fleet has received new submarines, ships, the latest coastal and air defense systems, and unique multirole aircraft. Former Black Sea Fleet Commander Alexander Moiseyev earlier said that the share of modern hardware might reach 70% already by the end of 2019.
The small missile ship Ingushetia has been built for the Black Sea Fleet and is the eighth Project 21631 ‘Buyan-M’ vessel. The new warship was floated out in June 2019.
Project 21631 Buyan-M-class small missile ships are outfitted with the latest artillery, missile, anti-saboteur, air defense and radio-technical armament, including the most advanced Kalibr-NK precision missile system designated to strike naval and coastal targets. Buyan-M warships are intended to defend and protect the state’s economic zone.

Defence news: Indian navy may pic up karakurt corvettes from Russia
#defenceandspacenews #indiannavy #Russiannavy
Indian Navy may pick up Karakurt corvettes from Russia.
Guided missile corvettes from Russia might soon make their way to India, with Russia looking to export its Project 22800 corvettes, code-named ‘Karakurt’, armed with the Kaliber missiles, to countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Apart from India, the corvettes could also be shipped to Vietnam and China.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov told local media that the Indian Navy could soon get the warships armed with the lethal Kaliber land attack cruise missile that is capable of hitting the enemy 2,500 km away.
At present, Kora-class corvettes are in active service with the Indian Navy. Four vessels were built at the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers and outfitted at Mazagon Dock Limited in Mumbai. The Navy is looking to acquire seven new-generation guided missile corvettes at a cost of $2 billion to replace its Russian 1241-RE missile boats. Several European and Russian shipyards have been eyeing the contract.
Terming the Project 22800 ships “very successful”, Borisov said the vessels have a big tonnage and large displacement, and are well-armed. “Ships of this class could be of interest to India, China, or Vietnam, along with other countries,” he added.
Incidentally, the Russian Navy itself is set to take delivery of the new corvettes.
Project 22800
Terming them good export potential, Borisov said the first three vessels of Project 22800 corvettes were being built at the Eastern shipyard, and have already generated interest from friendly navies.
The Project 22800 corvettes are a series of Russian artillery missile vessels developed by the Almaz Central Maritime Design Bureau. They feature a maximum displacement of 800 metric tonnes and a maximum speed of 30 knots.
The corvettes are being built to renew the Russian Navy’s fleet which is due to receive 18 of the small-sized Project 22800 ships, including the first two this year. The maiden ship was commissioned last July and is undergoing sea trials at the Pella shipyard on the Neva River. The vessels are armed with high-precision missiles and modern artillery systems.
The Karakurt-class corvette, which derived its name from the black widow spider, has been designed as a blue-water upgrade of the Buyan-M class missile boats currently deployed by Russia’s Caspian Flotilla and Black Sea Fleet.

Moskit Supersonic Missiles Fired As Russian Navy Holds Black Sea Drills
From:
April 09, 2019 - The Tarantul-III-class corvette Ivanovets and her sister ship the R-60 took part in the drills, which involved hitting targets 30 nautical miles away with the P-270 Moskit supersonic anti-ship missile. The Moskit is a supersonic missile designed to destroy enemy warships weighing up to 20,000 tons at a range of up to 90 kilometers away. The weapon flies close to the surface of the water to avoid radar detection, using high speeds and rapid maneuvers to avoid the target’s anti-missile defenses.
