Great Southern Wilderness - Albany, Denmark & Walpole: S03 Western Australia E3 Lap of Australia
We knew little about the Great Southern region in the lower south west of Western Australia, so when we arrived in Albany, Walpole and Denmark on our roadtrip of Australia we were ready to be surprised. It didn’t disappoint. We ended up in a dolphin rescue and very nearly ran out of fuel.
Despite the dramas we had some fantastic experiences including the valley of the giants tree top walk, greens pool, giant tingle trees, Whale World, the WOW Wilderness Cruise and a heap more.
WOW Wilderness Eco Cruise PLUS an AMAZING Dolphin Rescue
We visited Walpole in the South West Wilderness of Western Australia. Whlst there, you simply have to do the WOW Wilderness Eco Cruise, which is really hard to describe. It's run by Gary whose family has been doing this cruise for almost 100 years, and really is a part of Walpole history.
The cruise was fluid, we covered so much and it was an exciting day enjoyed by all ages. The highlight was a dolphin rescue, only the second beached dolphin here in the wilderness in the last 25 years! It was a great stop on our road trip around Australia on a big lap.

The Golden Outback - Esperance, Cape Le Grand & Lucky Bay: S03 Western Australia E2 Lap of Australia
Our next stop on our road trip of Australia was Lucky Bay, via Esperance, in the Cape Le Grand National Park. We stopped in for a couple of days in Esperance to fuel up and get supplies for our lap, and then continued on for 5 days in Lucky Bay Campground. It was a stunning location and we tackled our first Category 5 hike up Frenchmans Peak.
